How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I searched online for the best App Marketing Agencies in the US and SEM Nexus company came up as number 2. I interviewed SEM Nexus and the company that came up number 1, and our team really liked SEM Nexus better so we went with them.

The reason why we picked them over the other company was Michael appeared to be honest, straightforward, smart, and very experienced in the App marketing sector. He seemed to really want to see our app launch successfully and would do everything he could to hit our goals. To the present date, Michael has stayed true to those qualities, and we did hit our download goals and currently have exceeded those goals.

Michael met with us often via zoom meetings and excellent, prompt email communication. Marcus met with our team at times when needed. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. Our team manager first was Neil, then we moved to Jeffrey who was very nice and helpful, and now we are currently with Omar who is our team manager. Skylar was our social influencer manager, and John was our Ad creative manager who has been extremely helpful with our ads.

Currently, since our FYSH app launched successfully to Apple App and Google Play stores on September 6th, 2022, we sit at 8,450 downloads, and 5,621 accounts created. We are extremely pleased with the numbers and all measurable outcomes that SEM Nexus delivered.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our team met weekly with the SEM Nexus team, and then after the launch, we met weekly. Michael and the team have been great to work with; even a few times if I had a concern or question about something and Michael would communicate immediately with me thru email and even would jump on a zoom call anytime I requested. I appreciate that most about Michael and his desire to problem-solve immediately. Michael is honest, polite, and straightforward. There are no problems of miscommunication with him.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I am most impressed with Michael's skills when it comes to digital marketing, his communication skills and his desire to see our mobile App FYSH be successful and do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Maybe they could have helped "us" more quickly understand and pinpoint the market segment of our app. But, in defense to them we are a brand new mobile app, and it does take time to get the data needed. SEMNexus is currently helping more with our market segment since we do have that data coming in now.

We were told the project would be done in six weeks, and after 12 weeks had gone by, we decided to move on without them.

They delivered the work, but it was never finished. We paid them for all of the work, but SEM Nexus gave us an incomplete project. We’ve had to hire freelancers because the work was incomplete.

How was project management handled?

They were unpleasant to work with, and they didn’t communicate at all throughout the whole process. We never had meetings or updates from them even though we reached out. SEM Nexus got aggravated at us for reaching out and told us that we were wasting their time. 

We reached out via email and were told to sign up for a time slot on their calendar, but we were chasing them down the whole time to follow up on work. In many cases, SEM Nexus would show up late or miss the meetings altogether. 

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

We thought their UX/UI design on the final website was good. 

What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?

I would recommend not hiring them, but if you do, expect to do a lot of the work.

The workflow has been really good. We have weekly meetings with Mike and Neil. Once in a while other team members would jump in as well.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are really quick to respond, polite and set realistic expectations. A lot of other companies promised us some lofty goals that I didn’t think were possible, and Mike cleared that up for us within our first few meetings. We’re really glad we had the call with them before proceeding with the other firm.

They weren’t the cheapest solution we’ve seen, but they definitely made up for it in quality. Looking back, I don’t think I’d change anything.

Due to my amazing experience I’m also using Semnexus for marketing purposes with hopes of them bringing great traffic to our platform.

We searched online and read a ton on reviews on different app developers. After speaking with Semnexus and discussing their plans, cost, etc.. I trusted it was a good plan to move forward with them.

After our initial discovery call we decided to meet twice per week via video call. Our meetings were to discuss changing visions and the objectives of the app. We were provided a wireframe detailing each feature of our app so that. Seeing that wireframe brought confidence to this project. A month in I had a TestFlight iOS version of app. We were giving frequent updates to test. They were always flexible and open minded with all conversations in regards to seeing the vision come to life. App was beta tested prior to going live.

A project manager (Marco) was our main point of contact. What I appreciated most about him is that he was very realistic with his deliverables. Of course I’d want everything completed in minutes but Marco set real expectations and always delivered on everything he ever stated on time and in great detail.

We chose Semnexus after a bad experience with previous development company. Night and day comparison in our experiences with each. Semnexus exceeded our expectations with the completion of our project. The completed version is user friendly and very simple to navigate. Semnexus focused on the details and it shows.

The project manager (Marco) was very polite and always professional. He was very related which I personally appreciated especially being new to the tech world. He never over promised and under delivered, in fact he was the exact oppposite at times. On several occasions things weren’t smooth (that’s every business relationship) but he always took ownership versus coming up with excuses. We met twice per week via video calling.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their attention to detail was beyond our expectations. The wireframe was very detailed. The finally product on both iOS and Android was even better. They did a thorough job completing this project. I was so impressed with their work that I decided to stay and let them complete the marketing also.

We wouldn’t change much other than ensuring we understand some of the technical terms. Honestly not much I’d change due to such an amazing experience.

Our team met weekly with the SEM Nexus team, and then after the launch, we met weekly. Michael and the team have been great to work with; even a few times if I had a concern or question about something and Michael would communicate immediately with me thru email and even would jump on a zoom call anytime I requested. I appreciate that most about Michael and his desire to problem-solve immediately. Michael is honest, polite, and straightforward. There are no problems of miscommunication with him.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I am most impressed with Michael's skills when it comes to digital marketing, his communication skills and his desire to see our mobile App FYSH be successful and do whatever it takes to make that happen.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Maybe they could have helped "us" more quickly understand and pinpoint the market segment of our app. But, in defense to them we are a brand new mobile app, and it does take time to get the data needed. SEMNexus is currently helping more with our market segment since we do have that data coming in now.

As we wanted a social media app we were impressed by SEM Nexus's reviews especially within marketing and thought they would be a good fit.

We had lots of meetings especially at the beginning, however the app was created in Flutter which was not stated on the original proposal and they failed to deliver on time, in fact they didn't finish the project as it should be, instead they simply gave up as they lacked the expertise to perfect it in the way it should of operated.

They failed to deliver on time, as soon as they app was live and so called "finished" according to Mike & Marco there were numerous issues in fact half of the features simply didn't work on certain androids and numerous issues on iOS. They were expecting US THE CLIENT to be able to test the product on every android and iOS.

I've never come across an app development company that puts an app live without thoroughly testing it. For months & months they would try to tweak or correct something only to cause another major issue & this went on & on and the CEO became defensive and quite frankly dismissive.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

In the beginning it seemed great they were communicating well mainly by video conference, but sadly, they were out of their depth with our project and lacked the expertise to complete it and we are now spending more money on another development company to correct all their coding errors. Marco the COO talks over you instead of actually listening and Mike sat in meetings with his hands covering his face as every meeting the errors kept going on and on.

Their ability to sound like they know what they're doing, however the reality is the complete opposite.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Communication with Marco the COO was at times difficult and at worst condescending. When things started to go wrong they were unable to cope and got frustrated with us because their expertise was inadequate for such a big project. I would NOT RECOMMEND them for App development.

We worked with 2 people from SEM Nexus, our campaign manager and the owner.

Within a month of starting with them, our client already started seeing more traffic to their products, and ultimately more conversions.

There were initial challenges in communicating with our assigned campaign manager, but as soon as I brought this up, Mike stepped in and resolved the situation. Since then, our communication has been seamless with weekly standup meetings and regular communication through Slack.

They were attentive to detail on all of the technicalities of the project. Also, they didn’t shy away from showing us exactly what they did and why they did it. Everything made perfect sense from the very beginning.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Organization and initial communication could use work. Sometimes it was a little challenging to retrieve work they’ve done for us in the past, and in the beginning our communication was not stellar. They need better processes on reporting and communicating with clients from the onset. With that being said, as the campaign progressed, they attended to all of our concerns.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Once we got to the app store, we need to add new users to the platform and build out waitlist. within a few weeks of launching public ad campaigns, we saw an immediate lift to net new coaches downloading and creating profiles on our platform. Which allows us to incrementally onboard those coaches with 1 v 1 sessions.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

With any partnership we had to work on early project start up and integration of tools. Our tool stack is not their base stack so that took some extra time, which was expected. We also had to work through alignment of SEM campaign managers, but Mike was responsive, took my feedback seriously, and took action right away when it was necessary.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Flexibility and attentiveness to Istruzi as a customer. They also know what they are doing and take the time to research topics or questions they may be running into for the first time. Because Mike is an entrepreneur and running a successful business, he also know what it takes and understands the unique challenges of building a business.

Is there any area for improvement or anything that could have been done differently?

Alignment of Ad Campaign managers to projects who have demonstrated or cleared a certain level of internal training. We understand, its not fair to expect everyone to be professionally mature and/or adept right away. to address this, there should be some combination of: training, mentoring, on the job shadowing, or direct pilot/ co pilot support when adding new Campaign managers to an active customer engagement. this will ensure near term and long term positive results and value delivered.

Initially, we hired SEM Nexus to handle the marketing for an app made with another developer. That other developer failed to provide the app we needed, but SEM Nexus has onboarded a development team that we quickly hired to help salvage our project.

We needed a mobile app that would utilize location services to connect people looking for fitness instructors. It also needed it to handle the communication, booking, and payment for an easy and secure experience.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We already had a working relationship started, so the choice was easy for us. At the time, we had already seen open communication and on-time deliverables that were satisfactory to our needs (in marketing).

When our existing app failed to meet expectations, the SEM Nexus team shared there honest opinions about the project. Honesty and open communication were key to our business relationship's success. The quality work in the deliverables is a close second.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Once we decided to build a new app with the SEM Nexus team, we had a series of meetings to create a new wireframe design that included the key functions and preferred visual elements. The development team again provided suggestions and shared their opinion with us throughout this process to help guide us toward success.

The app was designed for both iOS and Android. It included two different user types: one as the client looking for location matched service providers. The match is based on fitness exercise tags and location data for the provider. Clients can send booking requests and pay in the app, as well as engage in chat before and after sessions.

Push notifications and automated emails keep the users informed of various reminders and actions to take. The app even has a rating system to feature on the user profiles.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

For development specifically, we worked directly with the CTO. He helped get our project on track from day one design to development and execution of the app. He continues to be our point of contact for all revisions and support moving forward.

He is very easy to work with and schedule call times with when you need more conversation than an email.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The app development process was a little slower than we initially hoped for, but the resulting product has an excellent design that is visually appealing and user friendly.

After just over a month of advertising, we have passed the 500 downloads benchmark with a growing base of interested users.

Since we had one main point of contact, it was easy to discuss next steps throughout the project with the person in charge of our development work. We primarily communicated via email and video calls on Google Meet set up several times a week during design phase, then down to weekly and as needed check ins.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The ease of communication and the willingness to share an opinion that was counter to our thought at times. We had and a lot to learn about that we needed in an app and even how all of these elements work together, so they provided education and guidance throughout this process.

It was wonderful to have a working relationship with someone who will push back and challenge our thoughts on something, which ultimately leads us to the best option.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

During development and testing, the app was occasionally shared with us to review a change or update that was not even present or corrected in our test. There a number of reasons that this might happen, but it did give us the impression that there was a miscommunication internally or perhaps a just missing the double check to verify task completion with the work.

We wanted to be a part of the process, so this might be different for other projects.

What challenge were you trying to address with SEM Nexus?

I wanted to hire a marketing company to help me market my app through GoogleAds, Apple Search Ads, Facebook Ads, and Instagram Ads. My goal was to get the word out that there was a new app in the market to give customers and clients the ability to join and create profiles on.

SEM Nexus was doing great at first, and I was initially very happy with the team and how professional and supportive the team was. I was impressed with the ads that they created for me to run on various platforms and I saw the potential of working with SEM Nexus to create a success for my app with their expertise.

Unfortunately due to internal issues, majority of the employees at SEM Nexus quit and that impacted the performance of the company on my app. The second month of my engagement with SEM Nexus was nothing like my first month, and that is why I updated my original review to reflect my experience with the company. After my second review was published, Mike (CEO) reached out to me to alleviate some of my concerns and to help me resolve the issues that I was having with the company. Mike was extremely apologetic and sympathetic to my concerns, and he offered to refund me my second months retainer costs to alleviate the issues which is very admirable, and I want to make sure that he is recognized for that for helping me resolve my issues.

What was the scope of their involvement?

SEM Nexus does my digital marketing. I also work with their social media director to get influencers to launch the campaign. They’ve also done my graphics, my ads, my video promos, our description in the App Store and Google Play, and keywords.

What is the team dynamic?

After initially speaking with Mike, he put me in touch with a project manager, as well as someone to help with social media and influencer marketing.

When the team is working together and on the same goal, they work pretty well together and is very well cohesive. I know that there are new employees in training, and these employees will become an asset when they are fully trained and ready to take on any project and task.

I interviewed several teams on Clutch that were in my price range for my project. I chose SEM Nexus because of the quality of work that they showed me as well as the potential to get more investors from their network of investors. They also will create your VC prep for investors and that to me was something that was not offered by any other company.

I have decided to work with another company to help me market my app at this point but I have no issues with Sem Nexus as they tried to do their best to their ability to help me and my project and I appreciate that.

Initially was great, then it was not so great after the employees quit, and now that they are rebuilding their company back to where it was, I have no issues. The CEO has tried to help me as much as he can and I really appreciate that.

Mike refunded me my second-month retainer in good faith attempt to alleviate the issues that I was having with the company. I appreciate this gesture as it was very appreciated. I have limited resources to market my app at this stage so this really helped me try to fix the problems that I was having with my marketing plan.

Initially was great but then it did not work out for me in the end. I am happy with where I am now with my company as I am working with another vendor and I have been refunded half of my costs with SEM Nexus and that is admirable.

It was handled to the best ability. Unfortunately when the company lost employees that affected my outcome and goals. However I have been compensated for the mistakes that were made.

The visuals and ads that were created for me on my first month were really great.

I found them on Clutch, along with a number of other companies inside my price range. I interviewed them separately and thought that SEM Nexus had the best pitch for the money I was going to spend.

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

We’ve hit that three-month mark, and I have 930 downloads, not 10,000. I paid them a retainer for the creative work during the first month, and I was very happy with the results. I then did a first Clutch interview, as they’d done what said they would so far: create the app store listing and create a few ads. They haven’t done anything since then, however. The project manager and a number of other resources quite simultaneously, and even after giving the CEO time to hire new people, I still had to train the resources they assigned.

Moving forward, they created ads that targeted the entirely wrong population. My app is only for women, and they were targeting ads to men, meaning I was wasting money. I even had to remove those people from the app because it wasn’t for them.

How did SEM Nexus address the challenges that arose?

After bringing these issues up with the CEO, he said that they were going to end the partnership because they didn’t like working with me. I haven’t received any money back.

Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business.

I didn’t receive any sort of professional marketing — no ads, no social media posts — and I was paying them a $4,000 retainer. On top of that, they kept changing the terms of the contract. When I first did an influencer contract with someone, the only cost was to the influencer, but the second time we did a contract, SEM Nexus instituted a 20% fee for themselves on top of the influencer cost. Additionally, they told me I could pay by credit card but then they never disclosed that this incurred an extra 3% fee. All of these fees were piled on top of them not delivering. They kept changing the terms of my contract without telling me to make themselves more money.

I can’t believe I wasted my time and resources with them. Why did I spend all this money when I have limited resources and could have gotten serious, professional help elsewhere? They also promised me that I would get data back on my app, and I never received a single data set. I had app tracking software installed, even paying for it, and SEM Nexus never used it.

How was project management handled?

Initially, when the relationship was solid, they delivered on time and were available and accessible. They even gave me their phone numbers. Responses to my emails came quickly, and that was nice.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

Initially, their connections with investors stood out. I never reached the stage of getting to meet with them, so I don’t know if that was true or something they just said to get my to sign on with them.

I don’t know if they were more effective at an earlier time, but they’re not doing well with their current structure.

Additionally, they constantly explain things to me and show me data. I can have meetings with their team whenever I want. They’re very responsive and quick to get back to me.

SEM Nexus always stays within my budget, and they present cheaper options if we need to do something beyond my range. They’re excellent at meeting deadlines and keeping their word. We communicate through emails and have regular meetings.

SEM Nexus’ efforts have helped us get more installs. For example, we were able to get 404 installs last week from the Google Play Store alone. Additionally, they’ve greatly decreased our price per install, although we keep working on that.

How did SEM Nexus perform from a project management standpoint?

SEM Nexus’ project management is very good. They’re very transparent about how much money different campaigns and paid efforts cost. Additionally, they’re very communicative.

They set up a meeting with us at least once per week to touch base and let us know what they’re doing. We use Firebase to manage the project, which is the same platform our development company used during that portion of the project. Additionally, we communicate via email and Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

SEM Nexus’ professionalism and knowledge are impressive. They’re very punctual to our meetings, and they’re always in a professional setting, even wearing suits to those meetings. Additionally, they don’t second guess themselves, and they seem to know the answers to all of our questions — they simply know what they’re doing.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’re doing an influencer campaign with SEM Nexus. They've assigned a person to manage the campaigns and to put together a list of people that are audience-appropriate for the app. He takes us through the process of selecting influencers and enables us to work with them. The influencers' end deliverables are videos on their channels to promote the app. 

SEM Nexus has also been giving us feedback on the app experience, giving us instructions on how to track all the activity in our app in a sensible way. They also create reports and advise us on user flows, covering how the app is downloaded and how users are onboarded into the app. 

We’re in the early stages of this process. So far, we’ve had onboarding conversations about the brand feel. The team has created our ad collateral, including copywriting work. Moreover, SEM Nexus resources have designed all of the assets we need to go live in the App Store and Google Play. These assets include our logo and the compiled pictures users see on the app stores. 

The team has also launched ad campaigns on both app platforms. We also have banners on Facebook, and we’ll expand those into Instagram and TikTok. On top of that, their resources help us with our keyword strategy in terms of descriptions and app content.

What is the team composition?

We’ve primarily worked with Max (Digital Campaign Manager) during the onboarding process and in getting everybody settled. At present, we work with a project lead. Under the project lead, we interface with Kasey (Director of Digital Campaigns), who handles the tactical side of things. He does keyword research and keeps an eye on our budgets for our digital marketing activities. Skyler (Director of Social Media & Influencer Marketing) handles our influencer campaigns, while their internal design team members design our collateral.

How did you come to work with SEM Nexus?

We looked around for a number of agencies that had experience in app launches, and they turned out to be hard to find. Many agencies, including relatively big-name firms, turned us away. The ones that talked to us came with outrageous costs for a startup running on seed funding. 

Then, we found SEM Nexus online. The reason we chose them was that they were comfortable with doing an app launch. On top of that, they had all the components that we were looking to use. Their pricing model was also way lower than other agencies’ offers even when we included the amount of money we’d spend on ads. 

More importantly, they offered to give us feedback on how the app was performing. For comparison, it seemed that other agencies only planned to blast our ads out on the internet and then wash their hands after that. In other words, SEM Nexus wanted to help us build a user base, and that was highly compelling to me. That was the start of our engagement.

We spend around $5,000 per month, including their retainer fee and our budget for ads. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in September 2021, and the engagement is ongoing. 

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The first run of ads has been better than expected. In fact, we’ve hit our two-week target in just three days. We’ve also had several hundred downloads and signups, which is in line with our team’s expectations. As we go, we hope to optimize these leads and increase our conversion rates. 

While it’s too early to claim success or failure on anything, the SEM Nexus team has been refining the user flows and app processes even more.  Their recommendations are based on data, and they fall in line with what I might have done if I had built and designed the app myself. I’ve been a UX design practitioner for around 15 years, and I sense that we’ll achieve a positive ROI in this project. However, it’s too early to tell. 

How did SEM Nexus perform from a project management standpoint?

SEM Nexus has managed the project well. They’re highly communicative, and the team is on point in terms of delivering the data we need. They also haven’t missed any deadlines. Meanwhile, our influencer campaigns are a little more fluid. Skyler has to reach out to influencers and sign contracts with them, and we can’t simply put these things on the calendar and work on them. In any case, we’re getting what we need from them from a project management perspective. 

Further, we have standing meetings every other week where they talk about the results and data they’ve gathered from the app and our ads. The project itself has been straightforward enough that we can get any information we need through email. We also have access to SEM Nexus’ platform, which shows us ad data and conversion rates. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

SEM Nexus’ cost structure has been impressive. On top of that, they’re the only agency that’s willing to help us with the project. To reiterate, we’ve experienced rejections from other agencies. Others haven’t said outright that they’re rejecting us, but they’ve priced the project at a cost that isn’t going to work for us. 

As a result, I’ve been delighted that SEM Nexus is willing to help us out. We have a new app, and most new apps fail — they’re willing to take that risk with us. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

In the beginning, we didn’t know what feedback to give to influencers. To be fair, this is a minor sticking point, and we’ve already sorted this out. It’s also a by-product of us not being familiar with influencer marketing. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Come with a little more pre-existing market research. On top of that, sketch out all your KPIs before engaging with SEM Nexus or any other agencies. That way, you can give them a leg up in terms of optimization and planning. This may accelerate things for your project. 

For context, in our engagement with SEM Nexus, we initially didn’t have a fully baked idea of who our audiences were; we were making those decisions as we went. If I had to do it over again, I would have taken a week to put together a research deck that we could present to them before we started.

Describe the impact this engagement has had on your business. 

SEM Nexus initially predicted that we would have around 10,000 downloads within three months of the engagement. Unfortunately, we have yet to hit even 1,000.

We’re a nonprofit organization, and this was a considerable investment for us. Overall, the team does an adequate job, but their approach isn’t working out for us. We plan on ending the project soon.

How was project management handled?

Their project management is satisfactory — they’re good at sticking to deadlines and budgets. We primarily communicate via email.

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

The SEM Nexus team has done a great job of helping us understand the marketing campaign process. Other than that, I don’t think they had strong points.

Are there any areas they could improve?

SEM Nexus didn’t immediately learn about the app, so we initially felt like they were using a formulaic approach to marketing that wasn’t suited to our product. 

They have overcome that challenge by getting more familiar with the app, but they could’ve done that earlier.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure that your app is heavily marketable for a mainstream audience before engaging with SEM Nexus. I think their campaigns would be more successful if your app is trendy.

The vendor responded on December 7, 2021.

This issue has actually been resolved with the client shortly after this review's submission. The problem was not with the app, but rather with the Grant Google Ads Account we were provided to work with, which is unable to run mobile app campaigns, and restricts us to Google Search Ads. These ads are horrifically inefficient for mobile app campaigns. Using other, less restricted channels/ad accounts, we both are able and have the data on this campaign to show that we have been achieving the KPI's we've aimed for.

To any and all future clients reading this, I would heavily advise against relying on any form of Grant account from Google Ads to achieve your mobile app download goals. It is far too restrictive to be of any practical use.

On top of that, they designed various Facebook and Instagram ads. All of our ads are tested on various segments in the US and internationally. Then, on a weekly and biweekly basis, we review all of our efforts and decide where we should be putting our focus going forward as we continuously fine-tune our marketing and advertising efforts.

SEM Nexus has been in charge of the whole project management, ensuring that we stay on pace and on goal for what we were trying to achieve. They have their own proprietary software that allows me to see all of the different advertisements across different platforms, so we don’t need to log into Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok to see how the advertisements are performing.

The team has been really responsive and creative. Our biggest need was getting insight from the industry to know how our metrics compared to the industry standards. Fortunately, SEM Nexus has given us great insight and creative solutions, helping us expand into other digital marketing spaces.

We work closely with them in the sense that we have weekly updates. We communicate mostly via email, and we use Google Drive to share documents.

SEM Nexus has a very comprehensive team, and they’re able to handle all of our needs. Other vendors only could help us with ASO or other specific parts, but SEM Nexus offered us full-service digital marketing. Additionally, they provide us with great insight, so they check off all of our boxes.

SEM Nexus’ initial approach to every project is a little formulaic, so it would be good if they tailored it specifically to every product.

They're business model supported ours which was great. They knew exactly what we were hoping to accomplish within our budget, and we walked away with some solid traction and KPIs for our proof of concept campaign. The team, and Sergio and Mike in particular, were great.

If we could have tested our attribution solution prior to launching the campaign that would have helped. In the end, we had a hard time optimizing our campaign in-flight + setting up our attribution partner which caused us to miss out on $1,400 worth of measurable installs.

 

Also, and our influencer campaign was ultimately cancelled due to the influencer missing deadlines. We would have liked to have seen more accountability and advocacy there.

Their most recent work is a very nice example of the quality of work that they do. We targeted app installs in the various app stores for around $3 for the App Store and $2 for the Google Play Store. We continuously exceed that mark by a significant margin; I think we’re sub $1 on both platforms right now. All of that is a testament to the work that they do, not just with keyword optimization and tuning the advertising algorithm so that we get the most out of our dollar, but also keeping us in the loop and engaged. 

The experience has been really positive. They make sure that they understand the theme and sentiment that we want to share through our app and use to attract people. They’re all very technical and are always iterating on the tools that they have for us to see the reporting, know what’s going on, and know where our money is going. All of that has been really beneficial to the relationship.

How did SEM Nexus perform from a project management standpoint?

They have very good communication. I have access to both Mike and another team member who leads all of the efforts on our project. We have weekly meetings for status updates. We’re always in communication; they’re really reachable and easily accessible. Whenever I reach out to them, they respond in a timely fashion. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The thing about advertising is that you can do it yourself through trial and error, but the expertise that SEM Nexus brings to the table from having done it so many times is invaluable. I can’t tell you how much money we would’ve thrown away had we tried to do it ourselves. Because they partnered with us and got us going on the right foot, we’ve seen significant ROI in the advertising space.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’d like to see some even more advanced tooling that streamlines the work that they’re doing for us across the various platforms. I think that’s a component of their offering that they can spend a little bit more of their time on. From an execution perspective, everything’s going great, and we do get all of the information that we need. It would just be cool to have one dashboard, instead of having to click to different places. If they could somehow aggregate that for us and really own all of the reporting instead of us having to tie things together, that would be really helpful.

Anyone interested in working with SEM Nexus should be aware of what their goals are. SEM Nexus is very goals-driven; they love helping you figure things out, but when you go in with a plan as to what you’d like to see accomplished, that’s where they really shine. You don’t need to come with the ideas – you just need to come with the vision of what you’d like to see happen, and they can fill in the rest.

Anecdotally, they nailed it. It’s helpful to have a company that solves the problems I asked them to solve as well as those that I hadn't considered. SEM Nexus looks at a project from all ends.

The conversion rate for our platform’s very high, so we experience a notable number of downloads. That’s partially attributed to how we’ve marketed the project, but also how well their team targeted our market segment.

They’re also a much-needed interpreter of our analytics. While I look at the product from an engineer’s perspective, I can’t look at it from a marketer’s point of view.

How did SEM Nexus perform from a project management standpoint?

After our initial phone call, we’ve communicated by e-mail. We use Firebase to review the analytics together. They’re thorough and detailed.

Their team responds right away. Usually, they wait for my response rather than the reverse. Our communication’s great.

I went to Clutch actually. I went to recommended companies' websites and held phone interviews. I was told that I didn’t have enough money and one company gave me SEM Nexus’s number.

When we met, they laid out a strategy. I felt that their team could cover my business’s marketing needs. That’s how I found them, and I’m so happy that I did.

We’ve spent between $10,000–$30,000 on their services. They don’t charge extreme amounts of money, so it’s great.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They’re great with SEO strategy. We went from zero traction to a well-represented and growing app. When we type our name into Google, we’re actually recognized. On the App Store, we went from not rated to rated 71st the other day. To me, that’s amazing.

How did SEM Nexus perform from a project management standpoint?

We use a Slack channel where I post questions to their team. Our communication’s good. Their team provides weekly reports. If I need support, I request it and then they provide it.

They’re responsive. If there’s a problem, they let me know and we address it. Their team goes above and beyond.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their work has made us more successful. They’ve done a great job with their SEO efforts.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I don’t have anything for them to improve. If I have a need, their team tells me whether or not they can meet it. I’ve been very happy.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

For me, one of the hardest tasks was discovering them. The fact that SEM Nexus came on board with a plan comforted me. Mobile app advertising is dynamic, so I felt fortunate to find them.

Before anything else, I want to note that I have attempted to contact Semnexus several times, and I have emails showing that I received no response. That is important to mention first.My situation began with an app created by a company called Appsketier. At the time, I had no idea the app was written poorly. I approached Semnexus to discuss marketing, and during that conversation, I explained that we were already experiencing issues with the app. I also told them that Appsketier claimed they were working on those issues.Semnexus asked if their team could take a look at the app. I agreed and provided everything they requested. After reviewing it, they told me the app was a mess and that they could fix it for $5,500 every two weeks, in what they called “sprints.” We started late, but Marco convinced me that Semnexus was the best team for the job. There were no guarantees, but according to the IBL report done by a professional company, it stated that it was obvious to any developer to know the app was not deployable. My question to Sem Nexus was why they did not see that? How could they say they are the best and yet not see as a developer that the App was not even Demo worthy.After paying more than $32,000 to Sem Nexus, the app was sent to me with the same issues it had before. The one main reason is that it was never fixable, never deployable; they had to know. I was not suspiscious, untill they stop answeringSemnexus later provided the attorney who helped me take legal action against Appsketier. I don't think Sem Nexus knew that we were going to hire a team of developers in Germany that would examine the work done by Appsketier.  We are working to raise the money to see the work that Sem Nexus did, but I wish they would just email me back and stop avoiding me. Through that process, we had the app examined by a team in Germany. Their report stated clearly that the app was non‑deployable and appeared to be only a demo. Based on that, I believe a professional team like Semnexus should have recognized this from the beginning.When I tried to ask Semnexus whether they knew the app was not deployable, they stopped responding to me immediately. That silence is what concerns me now. They had brought in users previously but they were primarily low value installs lacking talent

Completely redid their App Store listing. Primarily used Google Ads and Facebook Ads to target individuals that would be able to create higher quality submissions. Brought in IOS users at a sub $1 CPI.

A unique dating app that focuses on oral pleasure. They have created an open and honest dating community that rejects the binary and encourages users to be themselves.

Their Problem: 

They came to us in an early beta stage. We guided them through the pre-marketing process, into pre-registration and finally to a fully live product. Due to the nature of the app, we have been rejected from most ad networks. We found our place on Google Ads and have successfully created a diverse and deep community of users.
