BACKGROUND

I am the owner of Gold-E-Locx LLC, a mobile app for secure and encrypted telecommunications.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with SEM Nexus?
I hired SEM Nexus to get my app off the ground and advertise it so that people could see what it was all about.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
For the first 30 days of the project, SEM Nexus conducted user research on different age groups using topics related to the app. Their goal was to focus their energy on more fruitful areas for our advertising efforts instead of simply advertising the app to everyone. After the research process, the team put together a few flyers and launched them on the App Store and our website.
I also provided SEM Nexus with a lot of content I had about this app. We even had a mascot, which I also provided. Therefore, they only had to take this content and create ads with it. Additionally, the team helped me rearrange how the app was set in the App Store so that it looked more professional once the campaigns were launched.
We didn't market our app in the Google Play Store because Google had a special requirement, so we had to go back and work on the backend of the Android version. We now have to wait a trial period before our app can be uploaded.
What is the team composition?
I worked with around four teammates from SEM Nexus, including Mike (Founder & CEO), Jocelyn (Digital Marketing Project Manager), and two other teammates helping Jocelyn out.
How did you come to work with SEM Nexus?
I did a Google search about five years ago when I launched my first app, and Mike was on a list of app advertisers. Therefore, I reached out to him. That first app I developed here in the US ran into a political issue and ended up costing me a lot of money. Therefore, I decided to have it built again in India. Therefore, I simply put the engagement with SEM Nexus on hold until the new app was built.
How much have you invested with them?
I spent around $9,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together on this project from May 2024–June 2024.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Everything I asked SEM Nexus to do was done very professionally and interactively. They were very transparent and got everything approved. Unfortunately, our campaign failed miserably, but it was a good learning experience.
SEM Nexus' heart was in their work, but it didn't work out. Overall, they were an honest and good company, so I know that they'll do well in the future due to their honesty and integrity. What happened with the campaign was out of their hands. My app can be viewed as somewhat political, so the algorithms are keeping people from getting it.
How did SEM Nexus perform from a project management standpoint?
SEM Nexus' project management was spot-on. Whenever they set a specific time for a video call, they were always there. Moreover, they followed the plan that they created, did what they were supposed to do and what I asked for, and were very helpful.
Our communication with SEM Nexus was fine. We had a video call every week to go over the project and sent emails back and forth throughout the week whenever we had questions.
What did you find most impressive about them?
SEM Nexus specializes in promoting brand-new apps from the get-go. They were all very professional and cared about what they did — that's why I wanted to leave a good review. Their integrity was outstanding because it was clear that they were working for me. Even if they missed the mark, they were good people.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I don't know how SEM Nexus could have improved. I never learned about marketing, so I can't critique the results. I saw what worked and what didn't, and I know that every story is different. SEM Nexus had a mark, had a good plan, and went out to execute that plan. They did exactly what they said they would do and still missed the mark. That's how people get better; just keep going on. Next time, they'll be a little closer or nail it.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
Let them do their work; they have methods that absolutely make sense. Moreover, go with your gut. Whenever I feel good about people, that's where I go.

I came to Semnexus with an idea drawn out on sheets of paper with a traced iPhone for each 'wireframe" since I didn't know how to design them myself. I spoke with Marco and explained what I wanted in the first meeting by showing him each sheet of paper and sent them over.i was very nervous because the meeting went very fast and I didn't think Ihad explained myself well enough.
A week later I was presented with digital wireframes and an proposal for exactly what I wanted. I was beyond impressed! From there we had weekly calls and I was kept very updated on everything that was going on. once developed they gave good guidance on stuff I missed in the original design and were very easy to work with on updates and maintenance. we are currently adding additional features into the app and I am very happy with how its going.

yes, the development team and accounting were very easy to get on calls with last minute, very responsive in messaging! and made changes and updates very easy and smooth

On the development side, everything went quite smooth and perfect! very happy, once got into advertising there was some things that could be improved. as far as the communication on the campaign goes there should be more sheets and analytics explained.
