I’m the former CTO of Aroma360. We’re a B2C company that sells a variety of scenting products, from reed diffusers to air conditioning scenting systems for office buildings. We have e-commerce and direct sales channels.

What challenge were you trying to address with Sedin Technologies?
I was initially looking for an in-house Salesforce development team. However, I was having a hard time filling these positions and decided to look for an outside consultancy company.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Before working with Sedin Technologies, another colleague and me used to administrate the company’s Salesforce development. At that time, our company sold around $70 million yearly and had 100 sales representatives. We were overwhelmed on multiple fronts.
Sedin Technologies has helped us analyze and identify our technical debt in this area and prioritize our tasks. They’ve helped us identify which issues we could resolve quickly and which ones we needed to gather more data for future work. We work with Sedin Technologies hand-in-hand on a daily basis.
What is the team composition?
We’ve worked with different specialists from Sedin Technologies. I’ve worked with part of Sedin Technologies’ executive team, Madhu (Senior Project Manager), and a team of developers.
How did you come to work with Sedin Technologies?
We initially had placed ads for our open positions, and Sedin Technologies contacted us through those ads. We reviewed their LinkedIn profile and portfolio and asked them to talk to some of their previous clients. I had a conversation with a company in Australia that helped me decide to go with Sedin Technologies.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested around $250,000 with Sedin Technologies.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in January 2022, and our partnership is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I’m happy with Sedin Technologies’ work. They meet our expectations and feel like part of our team. Sedin Technologies thinks through our work process and requests. They make suggestions about things they think will work better for the project.
Moreover, all of Sedin Technologies’ clients I talked to had positive feedback about their work. This is the first time I’m willing to do a review for a company on Clutch, even though I’ve been asked before.
How did Sedin Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Sedin Technologies meets deadlines. We use Jira to track our project’s progress and tasks, and I check our Jira board regularly and track how long it takes Sedin Technologies to transition from one task to another.
We have a daily stand-up meeting and communicate on Slack throughout the day.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’m most impressed by Sedin Technologies’ executive team — they really care about our project. I’ve had other experiences before where colleagues ask questions geared towards delaying deliverables. At the beginning of our project, I worked with Sedin Technologies’ executive team to avoid these questions from their development team and be more action-oriented.
Developers typically want to be specific to please us, which can often cause us to lose time. I wanted Sedin Technologies to deliver what I asked, and they’ve been able to do that.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The time zone difference has been frustrating from a business point of view. However, I understand this isn’t something Sedin Technologies can change. Although I wish we could meet at different hours, Sedin Technologies really covers our needs.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I recommend having a clear understanding of your project before working with Sedin Technologies. I’ve learned not to share the ideation phase of the project if I don’t have any facts first.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
I selected Sedin technologies because they have been in business for over 15 years, they have a flexible, technology agnostic team building approach that is flexible, affordable and RELIABLE. Sedin does an exceptional job with early discovery and formal requirements documents that clearly spell out a project’ deliverables, costs and timelines.
Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.
Stage 1 was early discovery lasting about 90 days;
Stage 2 was to redesign and build an MVP / prototype for presentation to investors, 9 months to complete;
Stage 3 was to build out additional features in a series of 16 total sprints to launch on the app stores, have a live, working product prepared for first users and feedback. All completed sequentially with review, QA, testing and feedback from several team member working together.
How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
The Sedin team ranged between 6 – 12 employees depending on resources at certain stages. Positions included a senior level business analyst, project manager, senior technical lead, a team of web and mobile developers and a professional design team of (3) that helped create the final product and experience. We had frequent check-ins from their CEO & COO to offer additional support, ideas and make sure we were happy with the progress.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
The main outcome is a working product, successful submission to both app stores and continued support for additional features during our next phase. We’re able to add users and create the “shop” experience as intended, plus new ideas that make the shop experience even better than originally designed.

The workflow was exceptional and we established a cadence that worked for both of our time zones. We used advanced project management tools, consistent PPT presentations detailing features and completion and consistent communication online via chat, video and email.

We started building during COVID which led to a series of delays, followed by delays caused by rising interest rates, so we had to adjust our funding schedule, they flexed to our needs and still delivered in less than ideal conditions on our end

Maybe promote and include more time on design in the early term, given the quality of their design team and ultimate complexity of the project given how many features we ended up including.

We collaborate with the team on some of our machine designs by assigning a portion of the work to them. They then produce their part of the designs using SOLIDWORKS and send the finished product to us.

We have five dedicated teammates working on the project, including a lead designer. We also dealt with another person who was in charge of setting up our account.

Their project management is good. We don't assign timelines to them. Instead, we get daily updates from the team. Although they're a foreign company, we have daily calls using Microsoft Teams, during which the team presents their designs. We always know where they are in the project. Outside of the daily meetings, they can also reach out to our internal design team to ask for help and feedback.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Sedin Technologies is very capable — they come up with some good ideas. As long as we give them some direction, the team can come up with a good design. Their services also cost less than those of local designers.
After working together for some time, we now understand where their talents lie and what the team can handle, so we know which tasks to assign. Meanwhile, the more comfortable they've gotten with our business, the easier it's been for them to meet our expectations.
Are there any areas they could improve?
Our work is pretty niche, so we know they just need more time and experience to understand what we do. Every time Sedin Technologies finishes a project with us, it goes a little smoother each time, and they figure things out a little quicker.

Please describe your company and your position there.
I am Slava Snitser, I am a Mechanical Engineering Team Leader and take care of mechanical design of water treatment and desalination, reverse osmosis systems at Desalitech - a DuPont brand. Desalitech is revolutionizing the way the world treats water. Our patented Closed-Circuit Reverse Osmosis (CCRO™) process that promises high performing, high recovery systems that require less oversight and less operating costs.

For what projects/services did your company hire Sedin Technologies?
Desalitech was looking for mechanical engineering support to have a contractor that does the exact job that our engineers do, in order to be able to take more new projects and develop standards projects line. Sedin was not the first vendor we've worked with, previous outsource jobs did not meet our requirements.
That’s where Sedin clicked all the boxes and we tied up with Sedin. And, we were surprised, amazed with the way their entire engineering team worked. They not only had good knowledge about CAD softwares, they also had sound engineering knowledge about water treatment plants, and Systems. Currently Sedin team helps us with 3D modeling, 2D drafting and some engineering documentation projects.
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
While we were in search of the right vendors, Sedin’s sales team reached out to us. We explained our requirements. Sedin did the initial test- ‘pilot project’. We were impressed with the pilot project’s results and our journey started. From that point we had training sessions and procedures done so Sedin will be able to adopt Desalitech workflow and techniques. Sedin team are quick learners, they understood all needed requirements and implemented every single comment of ours.
Sedin designers’ skill set, on time delivery, exceptional work quality, taking care of minute project details and continuous improvement zeal are some of the key factors to work with them. They performed quick and efficient work, their deep domain expertise helped us in getting great results.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
We did multiple projects with Sedin. Let me frame it into different stages such as:
Project Assignment- We collected all the data for the project and shared it with the Sedin Team. And we disclosed all the scope of work that needed to be done.
Project Kickoff- Sedin went through all the inputs provided by us in detail. And their team asked for clarification, missing information, standards, queries, libraries, plant concepts during the project kickoff meeting.
Project Estimation- Sedin performed an analysis of the cost and resources estimation and a resource allocation based on deliverables’ date.
Project Execution & Submission- Sedin Engineering Team started executing the project. We had periodic meetings through online conference portals and social media platforms, sometimes even on Whatsapp for quick queries or updates (daily/weekly depending on the situation). We did the review and provided key feedback to the team. Sedin also submits the efforts sheet which covers all the estimated hours, actual work hours, quality hours, etc.
Review- Once the project was submitted to us, We did a review, and gave feedback. The team was very prompt in correcting any deviations, in case our operation team had any.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Around 1-2, sometimes 3 piping designers were engaged in the project. In addition to the designer, there is always a QA person who checks and confirms the work is done properly.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Yes, with the help of Sedin, Desalitech mechanical engineering team had more time and was able to create and maintain a standard line of CCRO projects, some of them were even done in cooperation with Sedin. Also, we were always able to meet the deadlines. There was negligible project pressure due to their presence. We can always count on them. Sedin delivered all of our works much ahead of the delivery schedule.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Very much, I would say. The workflows with the team were always good. They were good listeners and had good command over their presentation skills. Although there was geographical difference and different time zones, it couldn’t stop the Sedin Team from addressing our projects tasks and key challenges with the right solution.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
I absolutely love working with Sedin. They are friendly, the Sedin Engineering Team was always listening, constantly learning, and developing things quickly. They were quick learners, and I particularly liked the way a new member was introduced to the team as the project was halfway and it made no difference in the quality and working style, everything was in sync. Also, their availability is amazing, no matter how busy their engineers are, they will always immediately find resources to help us on time.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
We are in good relations and I feel comfortable to openly address all my concerns directly to Sedin, knowing they will kindly accept the feedback. I wouldn't write anything here.

Cost is always a factor and we found Sedin to be reasonably priced. They also had developers that were in both the Eastern time zone - which is where we are located and ex-US to accommodate nearly 24 hour service.

Sedin provided 2 full-time ruby developers to support on ongoing client efforts. This included site maintenance and product upgrades as required.

Our parent organization IT leadership team spoke with multiple vendors including several that they had worked with in prior projects. Most had only moderate experience in with ruby - and based on our needs and the expertise of Sedin and their "Ruby Factory" we felt that they had the best expertise to meet our needs.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?
We have had a few changes in staffing with our IT support team over the course of our relationship, however the new team members were able to ramp up quickly and contribute immediately - with little impact on our business.

Workflow was effective with the use of our project management platform effectively monitoring and assigning work. We were also able to find a daily stand up meeting time where both developers could join
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
Their expertise in ruby on rails. They were also very accommodating to our requests, and they worked with us on other projects that were a little beyond the scope of our agreement.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Sedin has done a very good job of staying in constant communication with us about their team that they have assigned and always provides timely communication when changes may be happening in terms of new staff or prolonged absences. They provide a solution before notification.

BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
efore reading a review I always try to determine where the person giving the review is qualified to do so. I am including my history relating to having propriety applications created which I believe qualifies me to give Railsfactory a huge positive recommendation. The present company where I work is a motor car repair workshop. They have been in business in the same premises for over 30 years.
My position is office manager and personal assistant to the Director. I have been with the company for 20 years. Prior to this I was a director of a textile manufacturing company for 16 years and prior to that, for 26 years, a director of a chain of retail stores selling home appliances and TVs. In the 1960s it was my task to introduce computerisation of the firm. In those days the system was to engage a computer manufacturer and have them create the application for you.
We needed an application for our debtors only. We had very special and unusual requirements. Our responsibility was to describe our manual systems fully listing the number of line entries per month. The computer manufacturer’s programmers would then analyse this and quote an all in price for the software and hardware. It took over a year complete and debug.
It was during this process that I learned why so many propriety application installations failed. Time pressure was put on the person responsible for introduce the computer system to the firm by both the computer company and your own company management to install the system. The computer manufacturer’s attitude was “we are far enough into the creation where it can be introduced and we will debug it as we get along”.
Our management team “if the programmers are ready to launch why are you holding the installation back?” one had to be very strong to resist both pressures. Ultimately, some months later, when I ran through the whole programme multiple times without a hitch the system it was successfully launched. My next computerisation was in 1982 when I joined a textile manufacturing Company.
Two months prior the previous owner had purchased a computer and program from a computer manufacturer. It too was to function as debtors program only. One had to start the computer with magnetic card each time. The program had many bugs. I contacted the vendor company, they took the computer back and passed a full refund. We brought we our old clackty clack booking machine re-entered all entries which gave me time to reassess what was available.
Times had changed one was not forced to purchase from the computer manufacturers. Programmers where writing programs for specific industries and looking for clients. This time I was looking to buy a ready made standard debtors plus analysis application off the shelf I wrote a detailed analysis of our requirements which I sent out to various programing organisation.
My one major specification was their program had to fulfil all our requirements without modification. If during their demonstration I was told “The program cannot do this feature but we can modify it for you.” The demonstration would come to an immediate end. Many such demonstrations ended this way. Eventually I found such a program with which we had great success. Bear in mind that the computers we were using had a “Huge hard drive capacity of 20 megabytes.
The application which I ultimately chose fully lived up to my expectations. The textile factory was sold in 1988 I decided to move on. In the company wages program we used was a very good program. I had developed a relationship with their support team which was totally telephone based. Knowing that I was now free they asked me to join them to handle the support and onsite education for those customers whose issues they could satisfy over the phone by their support team.
This was a very satisfying job. Without expectation when I left each customer they expressed their grateful thanks. Payments were made on completion of the session. In 1999 this company was sold. I was invited to join a company which sold computer education manuals to training organisations. My task was to create a market within the state government, universities, big business and private training organisations for both offline and online uses.
I did this for five years and left when the company was sold. This too was a very satisfying job. I had at my disposal online education on any IT subject I chose. Here too my function was after sales training and support. This was prior to zoom, Team viewer or the benefits of any online face to face application . In 1999 I joined Gil Auto. Gil at that stage was using a manual system for his operation. I investigated the readymade market and could not find a satisfactory application that could satisfy our requirements.
We engaged a small programming firm to create a standalone a single off line application. This served us well but as the business had grown we needed a new program to enhance our back office productivity. About six years ago we were approached the largest firm of programmers in Australia who specialised in the motor industry.
They gave us an estimate of the cost for the modification of their program to our requirements. This time I really thought that they would be able to do this. A year later they refunded our deposit admitting defeat.

The project for which we engaged Railsfactory was to create a multi user online application to have all the functionality of our existing desktop offline application with many, many more added features in our wish list

We were recommended to Railsfactory by a firm in the jewelry insurance business. Railsfactory had been a service provider for them for some years and still is currently.

We provided Railsfactory with a copy of our offline application, and the current .mdb files and a wish list. Railsfactory were to provide us with a multi user online solution plus the list of all the items on our wish list.

All team members, I think about six, were present at every meeting. There was no having to wait for answers because of somebody’s absent. At the end of each meeting the team leader confirmed their notes as to what was to be completed for the next meeting and a date set for that meeting. Their knowledge and usage of the English language was very impressive, at no stage did we need to correct any spelling in the hard coded text.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?
There are three areas which benefited from the introduction of the application Workshop about 12% Back office about 15% Sales and marketing a massive 25% Workshop and back office what we anticipated Marketing and sales a delightful surprise
Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.
We really had no idea of all the possibilities and benefits that the internet and modern programming could offer us. Had Railsfactory just given us what we asked for we would have been satisfied. All the way through the project they brought to our attention benefits that we did not know were possible. These extra enhancements have been greatly appreciated.
On two occasions in the third of fourth sprint we realised that an added feature would be nice to have only to discover that they had provided that as they thought we would need it at some future date. For the difficult requests we made, they in every case, found an efficient answer. In one case we required one particular field to have a circular updating system. Their resulting workaround was very impressive. The information of this feature has enabled us to markedly increase our sales.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The project was divided into a number of sprints which were to be signed off by us one at a time. At all stages we knew where we were and could see and feel the progress that was being made. We for our part were constantly testing and retesting all achievements looking for glitches and anomalies Previously all programmers we have worked with have been in our time zone.
The customer’s input is vital at all stages of the project. This had resulted in our losing many hours out of our day being dedicated to the previous programmers attempts. Railsfactory being in a different was a distinct advantage as meeting could be held after we closed for a few hours at a time a couple of times a weeks. All team members, I think about six, were present at every meeting.

We signed off the final sprint having tested and trying create errors which we could not find we went live without running the old system in parallel. We have had no glitches from the application. A vital feature! Railsfactory provided us the ability, without any coding knowledge on our part, to add new information to all the dropdown fields. This is an outstanding feature. It has future proofed the application.
It is as up-to-date today as it was on the day we went live. Their after-sales service was exceptional. On two occasions we had a problem with our internet provider. We contacted Railsfactory they in turn contacted our provider on our behalf and we were up and running within a few hours. Once again thank you Railsfactory.
