The team has created a better navigation menu to improve the user experience, helped increase the site speed by optimizing images, and ensured the sitemap was correct and provided it to Google.

My organic traffic has doubled, and the number of keywords I rank for has almost tripled since I began working with The Search Initiative. In July 2024, I was averaging 33 visitors to my website daily from organic traffic, and in July 2025, my average was 79 website visitors per day organically, representing a 139.4% increase.

How did The Search Initiative perform from a project management standpoint?

The Search Initiative's project management is fantastic. I'll be honest; the results took a bit longer than they had predicted, and I had expected, but the entire time, they had a game plan and optimized and changed the strategy until we saw positive results. The team has been wonderful to work with and open and honest during our communications. We use the Teamwork app and email to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I've used at least three other SEO agencies in the past, and none of them led to an increase in organic traffic and leads. The Search Initiative is the first team I've worked with that has provided the results I was looking for.

Our main priority was to grow our visibility for relevant service and property keywords within the UK to complement our existing paid ads efforts. The campaign’s key deliverables included a tailored content strategy, including content creation and optimization for our service pages and blog, technical SEO fixes, backlink acquisition, and UX/CRO enhancements to optimize site conversions - specifically the contact forms and positioning of CTAs.

In just over a year, their work on content, technical SEO, and UX has more than doubled our organic traffic, with form submissions growing from around 10 a month to at least 50 a month over the past six months.

The project is well-managed, with most items delivered on time (just a hiccup with content being late on one occasion), but apart from that, they respond well to our needs and help provide clear explanations when it comes to some of the more technical issues.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The lack of measurable outcomes from the SEO campaign was a major disappointment. Despite a six-month investment and two additional months of service, there were no significant improvements in keyword rankings, organic traffic, or lead generation. The campaign failed to deliver tangible ROI, as the website’s visibility remained stagnant, and no noticeable growth in conversions or engagement was observed. Additionally, technical issues—such as broken contact forms—actively hindered performance, leading to missed opportunities from paid traffic campaigns. Given the investment, the absence of clear progress indicators like ranking improvements, traffic growth, or conversion rate enhancements highlights a fundamental failure in execution and strategy.

The project management from The Search Initiative was lacking in both execution and responsiveness. While the initial months showed promise, the consistency and quality of deliverables quickly declined. There were frequent delays in implementation, and I often had to follow up on promised tasks. Critical issues, such as website layout problems and broken contact forms, were not proactively identified by their team but had to be repeatedly pointed out by me.

When concerns were raised, management was willing to acknowledge mistakes, but corrective actions were reactive rather than proactive. While they offered additional content as compensation, the lack of quality assurance meant new issues continued to arise. Given the high price point of the campaign, I expected a higher level of attention to detail, accountability, and efficiency, but instead, the burden of oversight fell largely on me as the client.

The most impressive aspect of The Search Initiative was their depth of SEO knowledge and industry expertise. Their strategies, as showcased in their content and initial consultations, demonstrated a strong understanding of search algorithms, technical SEO, and content optimization. However, execution fell far short of expectations. While their insights and recommendations were theoretically sound, the actual implementation lacked attention to detail, consistency, and proactive quality control. This disconnect between high-level SEO knowledge and poor execution ultimately undermined the effectiveness of the campaign, leaving much to be desired in terms of tangible results.

Are there any areas for improvement or something The Search Initiative could have done differently?

I had high expectations when I signed up for SEO services with The Search Initiative, especially given Matt reputation in the industry. I’ve followed his content for years and was excited about the opportunity to work with his team. Although the pricing was above my initial budget, I believed in their expertise enough to borrow funds to invest in a six-month campaign, hoping for solid results.

The first couple of months started off well, but as time went on, the quality of work and attention to detail declined. I constantly had to point out layout issues, font inconsistencies, and even technical errors that impacted my website’s functionality. At one point, changes made by the team caused all my contact forms to stop working, which directly affected a PPC campaign I was running—resulting in zero leads. While the management team did offer additional content as compensation, errors and oversight continued to be an issue.

For $3,500 per month, I expected a high level of service, but instead, I found myself micromanaging small yet crucial website details that should have been caught through proper quality assurance. Despite my investment of $21,000 over several months, I saw no meaningful return. Even the two additional months provided at no cost failed to move the needle.

While I appreciate the team's willingness to address some concerns, the overall experience left me disappointed. The lack of tangible results, combined with the need for constant oversight, made this a frustrating investment. I strongly suggest that The Search Initiative focus on improving quality control and ensuring clients don’t have to catch and report basic website errors themselves.

I won’t be continuing with or referring their services, but I hope they refine their processes to deliver the kind of high-level SEO execution their reputation suggests.

Their management is usually pretty good. Since we started working with our new account manager, communication has been a little difficult. They’ve had to deal with a few internal challenges as well — several of their team members tested positive for COVID-19, which impacted their operations. It’s understandable, so it’s hard to fault them for that, but it has impacted our project.

I’ve been impressed with the increase in traffic to our site. We’ve made enormous strides in that department.

They could be more mindful regarding communication. Since several of their team members got sick, they haven’t responded to us or updated our spreadsheet.

The number of organic sessions in March 2020 was 13,429. By May the site had some major jumps in rankings and traffic started to recover. In October 2020 the last complete month, organic sessions were 40,813. A 203.92% increase compared to March. The website is now ranking first place or in the top three positions for many important money keywords.
