Please describe your company and your position there.

My company is Glitch. We’re a worldwide eCommerce platform for media products and gaming. I’m the founder.

For what projects/services did your company hire RORYVAUX?

Rory was responsible for the branding, design and build of our new brand.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goals were to stand apart from the crowd and deliver something entirely unique into the industry. Rory took his time to understand our passion in this field, and showed a lot of empathy around our goals.

Rory was recommended by another business we work closely with.

Describe the project in detail.

Starting off with the branding side of the project, Rory brainstormed and offered several different avenues for us to take. This brought in a wide scale of choices, but kept the entire process focused - always making sure to include us in his thought process.

With the branding wrapped, we were able to start using the designs across our social medias to bring hype and awareness to our new forthcoming website. This was Rory’s idea, and this initial buzz really helped with a strong launch.

The new website was put together rapidly with a wide range of our products. We had a few amendments, and Rory took care of them almost immediately.

This was just Rory.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our initial launch has been fantastic, and Rory has given us the ability to maintain the website ourselves. This is integral going forward.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication is vital to projects like this and we appreciated being able to have a constant and clear channel to talk to Rory.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I think it’s what I mentioned earlier with the empathy. Rory knew what we really wanted to achieve, and set out to do that, almost as if it was his very own business.

Are there any areas for improvement?

None I can think of.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I work for a nonprofit organization that is based in the United States. We do disaster relief work both domestically and internationally.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with RORYVAUX?

We were looking to hire a web developer to redesign our website completely. We had a website that another company built, and they’ve been doing all of the backend work. Another part of this project was ensuring that we could manage our site internally rather than rely on an external consultant.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started the project with a number of phone calls so that Rory (Owner, RORYVAUX) could assess our needs and understand our expectations in terms of deliverables for the project. We began a process of transferring content to Rory before he started the design stage. We launched the site a couple of weeks ago.

I’m not sure what we were using before, but Rory redesigned the website using WordPress. We use another vendor for our CRM and our hosting. In terms of features, we have a mailing list tool that is still being finalized and a publicly-facing gallery section that displays all of our media, including photos and videos. The design is simple, and the site provides a straightforward overview of the work that we do.

What is the team composition?

I only worked with Rory.

How did you come to work with RORYVAUX?

I learned about RORYVAUX through a mutual contact. I have a colleague here in the US who knew them from the UK.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $4,800 for the full project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We brought in Rory at the very end of October 2018 and signed an official contract in November 2018. We finished up the design phase two weeks ago. Rory is going to work with me over the next couple of weeks to train our organization on how to use the site from the admin side.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve gotten some excellent feedback from our external constituents, as well as from our board and other members of the organization.

How did RORYVAUX perform from a project management standpoint?

Rory is a pleasure to work with and has a keen sense of how the different phases of the project should unfold. He’s also very responsive. It’s easy to get him on the phone, and he answers emails quickly. We communicate primarily via email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Rory was very flexible when it came to incorporating our specific design ideas and preferences for the website. We have no experience with web development, and I know that it can be difficult for a designer to work with laymen who want things done in a certain way. He compromised with us to implement what we asked for and still managed to deliver a professional and functional site.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I think, at this point, I wouldn’t say that I have anything. Nothing stands out in my mind.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure to communicate your expectations at the beginning. Be clear with Rory about how involved you want to be in the design process, whether that be completely uninvolved or more of an active role.

Even if you prefer to just hand over content and let him design your site entirely, it’s important to communicate that early and often throughout the project. It’s a good way to make sure that your needs and particular opinions are being incorporated.
