Co-Founder & CEO, The PT Solution
- Industry: Other industries

- Client size: 1-10 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Feb 27, 2023

**Feedback Summary**: RevStar’s work has met the client’s expectations, and their efficiency and organizational skills have helped them save time and money. The team delivers on time and within budget, and they’re very efficient and communicative. Moreover, they’re very knowledgeable about the client’s technology stack.
"“RevStar’s project management has been perfect; they’ve delivered work on time, on budget, and complete.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder and CEO of The PT Solution. We’re bringing to market a product and service called SNAAP Transportation, a mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) product for personal rapid transit.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with RevStar?

We needed help with software development regarding some specific work, including auditing our current software, building out some of its functionality, and potentially taking a lead role in the development side of our venture.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

When we started working together, our software was on version 1.5. Thus, RevStar first helped us tie some of its loose ends to get to an MVP. Now, we’re getting ready to go into another phase and add some administrative functionality. As for the technology stack, we’ve used React and Java.

Our software is comprised of two mobile apps that will be downloaded by customers, who will also be able to create memberships to be part of our system. Therefore, our software’s main features include profile setup, picture setup, safety videos, payment processing, credit card storage, and more.

In addition to those features, when a user is prepared to use our shuttle system, the system will recognize them and execute the ride. Currently, RevStar is working on the next iteration for the administration side. This iteration will relate to handling multiple shuttles and systems, scaling up the reporting, improving the systems’ health, and other features.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with 6–8 teammates from RevStar, including a project manager, a couple of developers, a coordinator, and an executive lead.

How did you come to work with RevStar?

Another software company recommended them because of our development stack. This other company told me that our project wasn’t in their wheelhouse, so they referred us to RevStar. Over our engagement, they’ve proven to be a perfect fit for us.

How much have you invested with them?

Thus far, we’ve spent around $30,000. However, now we’re aiming at investing around $250,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

RevStar has been working with us since around October 2022. We recently had a meeting with their CEO, and we expect to engage in a very long relationship.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

RevStar has completed their tasks to our satisfaction. While we’ve had a number of things to do, they’ve helped us prioritize the order in which we need to complete them. Additionally, they’ve given us suggestions on different ways to execute, which have saved us time and money.

How did RevStar perform from a project management standpoint?

RevStar’s project management has been perfect; they’ve delivered work on time, on budget, and complete, and they’ve even provided some discounts. Although we work with many teammates from their side, there’s no confusion. Everyone fulfills their role and stays in their lane, which makes them very efficient.

As for communication, RevStar offered to use Slack, but I opposed using another tool. For the most part, we’ve communicated via regularly scheduled standup calls, emails, and additional calls if needed. Given that RevStar is performing as they’re supposed to and asks a lot of great questions, we don’t need a lot of additional communication channels.

What did you find most impressive about them?

RevStar knows our technology stack very well, and they’re great to work with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only way in which RevStar could improve is if they did their work for free.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success? The scope of work was broken out into two week sprints with a detailed user story/scope of work nested within each milestone. The REV Star team had daily stand-up meetings to track progress and ensure work was getting completed on time. We participated twice a week to stay up to date on progress. At the end of the two week sprint, there was a demonstration where we were shown the work and then it was released to testing so we could approve before moving to the next sprint. The organized method by which the work was broken down helped move the project to full completion on time.Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs? We are beyond impressed with REV Star's project manager and his communication skills. All project requirements, milestones, questions, clarifications, etc were very clearly laid out and well documented. He was excellent about driving the daily work to ensure all 2 week milestones were completed. He also spent quite a bit of time to understand the product we were working on and helped tremendously with ideas for the design and architecture. He, as well as the developer, were extremely responsive and provided accurate, complete answers typically within the same day, if not a few hours. What was your primary form of communication with RevStar?Virtual MeetingEmail or Messaging AppWhat did you find most impressive or unique about this company?RevStar did excellent work on the technical aspects of the project but what was unique in our experience was they also served as consultants for us to think through the product and its ability to scale. The team really took the time to understand the application for the tool, even though it's outside their industry, and provided a design that was very mindful of the end user experience as well as our company's ability to scale this product without a lot of rework to the MVP.Are there any areas for improvement or something RevStar could have done differently? We can truly say we had a world class experience with REV Star and do not have any areas of improvement to highlight. We will be working with them again.
