Reactive Hive Ltd helped us finalize QA and fix bugs to keep on track with the project deadline and launch it on time. Everyone was happy with the work delivered by the QA; it was thorough. The QA was able to jump right in after a short introduction to the project, Jira, and TestRail. It was a very smooth process.

Reactive Hive performed the testing of the end-to-end flow of our app in order to identify all the software issues and insecurities affecting our app usability. In the scope of work, the QA team performed functional testing, regression testing, and provided the resolutions for issues to be handled.

While working on the project Reactive Hive has gone to great lengths and demonstrated their determination in delivering the best value. Over a short period of time, the QA team has detected 4 critical bugs and a host of minor system issues that had been overlooked by our developers. They’ve also come up with elaborate bug reports and explicit documentation to be used for further improvement.

We worked with Valeriy in his previous company, and when he left for Reactive Hive, we stayed with him as we were satisfied with his expertise and attitude towards the work.

Omnyfy is an Online Marketplace Platform, where we provide businesses the ability to set up their own marketplaces. Our projects are either client marketplaces, or new features for our core platform. We would have an approved detailed scope in either scenario, and development would start.

Typically, we would have the development completed, and depending on the project, we would apply incremental testing or full regression testing on the staging environments. Bugs found during the test would then be created as tickets and assigned to developers to review/resolve on the staging environment, and tickets are reassigned back to the testers to verify the change.

If it's a client marketplace, the client would then be notified to perform a UAT on the project for approval, then launch. If it's a core feature, the feature is merged into the core platform and updated on all relevant environments applicable.

I have mainly worked with 1 tester.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

During our growth period, Valeriy really saved us a lot of time and reassurance for our projects which had harder to meet deadlines. Before the team came on, our testing was left up to the project managers at the time. Since Valeriy started and as he continued to work with us, we were able to deliver our projects with more confidence to our clients knowing that there has been extensive effort spent to ensure that our delivery is above the standard.

It was very effective. Our team worked together to create the workflow and provide feedback to each other constantly.

The attention to detail was great. They were testing things we hadn't thought about.

Beyond helping to support our QA effort with day to day testing, we ultimately want to grow the responsibility to take on handling tech issues that occur outside of our normal business hours so a vendor in a different time zone could help with that. Another aspect of our request was to help build our automation suite to become more robust.

The initial ask was to support manual testing for all development work to free up time so that I could focus on setting up automation and documentation.

This is an ongoing project, but over the initial two month, partnering with Reactive Hive has transitioned us from having no automation to having critical regression tests integrated into our pipeline for every release.

Additionally, the role has move forward with beyond manual testing of new work, but also to include documentation of new features, automated tests, and assisting fielding tech issues resolutions.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

A benefit with working with a team that did not fully overlap in hours with the developers was helpful as it allowed dev work to be completed at the end of our day and have it QA'd before the start of the developers day so they could begin addressing feedback without a lengthy wait. Onboarding Reactive Hive was very efficient despite very complicated workflows on our end. Their QA picked up on the process very quickly which usually can take weeks, if not months to fully understand. This also allowed them to expand their role far quicker than expected which helped move our other goals faster.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The QA feedback was very clear including screenshots and videos verifying the tasks. Feedback was clear and easy to reproduce. There were no communication issues and their QA was able to seamlessly integrate into the daily process, including standup and sprint retros. With most new hires you expect a length period of ramping up, but in this case, they have been able to be effective almost immediately.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Most of the limitation were from our side. We weren't ready with the infrastructure for the automated tests, etc. but Reactive Hive helped immensely by relieving the pressure of the daily issues to allow our team to focus on our higher end goals. Once those were complete Reactive Hive was fully supportive of expanding their role to take on more responsibilities which helped a lot.

While our headquarter is in London, most part of the team is based in Germany though. Furthermore, our operational teams are supported by compelling senior executives from various fields such as technology, healthcare, and private equity, which are based globally in the USA, Canada, Columbia, Europe, and even Asia.

Our marketplace covers 10 countries and their markets with a separate store view respectively. In spite of the fact that our project is already live, our IT department definitely requires savvy QA engineers to maintain the stability and high user experience of our websites. Twice a week deployments require testing on staging websites and quick smoke testing after releases.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

So far, the manual QAs have drastically reduced the number of issues in terms of live websites by providing high-quality testing of our Magento websites. The majority of the testing documentation has been created from scratch. So far, our developers don't get involved in the testing process, they are primarily focused on the websites’ development. The QAs are also committed to checking and analyzing users' experience during the customer's sessions recorded by our tool, which also contributed to our conversion increase.

We included QAs to our daily stand-ups to make communication faster and more efficient. For the tools, we use Jira, Telegram and Google Meet. The QA team is totally integrated into our daily workflow and flexible enough to join when we need to work more than it was planned.

This QA team might not only offer a profound testing service but also provide you with various improvement suggestions. They appeared to be rather flexible and adaptive. The task was to launch seven Magento 2 and integrate them with their existing systems. Reactive Hive was selected by a software development company as a QA partner for this project, eventually, our QA engineers were onboarded as a dedicated testing team. Among the most prior features were the following:

• all the seven websites needed to share a common shopping cart with the ability to checkout on any of the seven sites;
• all stores were brand-specific and needed to be connected to each other
• each store had a unique catalog with no shared products among the other stores.

After an introduction to the dev team and onboarding processes, our QA engineers were provided with all the necessary credentials for a bug-tracking system, business requirements documents, communication channels, mockups as well for starting the work. Before the beginning of our work, the staging environment was set up, a set of required modules installed, payment sandbox configured.

They defined the main flows of functionality that required the most attention and included: single sign-on feature, layered navigation, a common shopping cart, unique catalogs.

QA engineers started their work with the designing testing documentation (2 checklists for full-website and smoke testing) relying on the existing business requirements. One additional important aspect was data integrity after migrations. The first round of functional testing uncovered and tracked all the existing issues. Smoke testing was also performed for each installed extension of the environment. After that, regression testing was provided for each following release using the developed checklists and modifying them if needed depending on the changes. Using the CSV import files, we checked the product and customer data integrity after migrations to Magento 2.

In less than three months seven Magento 2 sites were launched and complied with the required quality standards. By conducting functional testing, we shared our recommendations on features.
