BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the CEO of an advertising agency that focuses on driving leads via TV commercials.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire RDM, and what were your goals?

Our goal was to have RDM produce a commercial for our Negligence Network brand that would entice consumers to call us if they have been injured by defective products.

SOLUTION

How did you select this RDM and what were the deciding factors?

We've worked with RDM for years. They have produced dozens of successful direct response TV commercials for us in other verticals.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.

We created a script and storyboard, a voiceover and handed the assets to Greg and his team. They took it from there and produced a high performing spot.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked with Greg and Carole. They were super fast to respond to emails, always on point and beyond helpful.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We show off the video to new law firms and the spot has driven millions of dollars in new cases.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We spoke mostly over email as that is the most efficient way to get things done. For more complex topics, we would jump on a phone call and they would knock it out quickly.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They went the extra mile to make sure you love your video before they sign off on the project.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I wish we could have worked with them in person to some degree to work out our more complex visions for the project.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the creative director for an online food company on the East Coast. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with RDM?

We needed someone to shoot footage for our TV commercial. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

RDM shot some B-roll for the cable and digital TV commercial spots we were trying to produce. Because of time constraints, RDM was only responsible for the shoot, and we edited the raw footage in-house. 

We had two shoots. The first was in our facility here and in an apartment. We were supposed to do a running footage of trucks for the second shoot, but we had to postpone because of the weather. The shoot took place outdoors, and it was very cold. 

We weren’t sure if we could re-engage with RDM for the second shoot due to the many uncertainties in our company. However, when we called RDM and told them we were ready to shoot again, they quickly accommodated us. We recently finished shooting the remaining footage. 

What is the team composition?

Carol (Head of Production) was our project manager. We worked with eight people for the first shoot, including a stylist, an art director, and wardrobe personnel. We had a smaller crew on the second shoot, consisting of about six people. 

How did you come to work with RDM?

Somebody from RDM knew me from my previous job, and they connected with me. We started chatting, and as chance would have it, this project came up. 

I liked RDM because they had experience shooting vehicles and trucks, as well as running footage. We had transportation resources in-house, and it made sense for us to shoot a delivery scene. That said, we thought they were a great fit. 

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement lasted from March–June 2021

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The footage RDM shot was evergreen — in addition to TV spots, we ended up using them on social media and YouTube. This type of footage will have a long life, which is exactly what we needed for our storytelling.

Everybody loved the footage — it elevated the look, feel, and quality of our spots. While we had our own footage for storytelling, the quality was uneven, and RDM’s footage brought it all together. Their work was highly valuable for us and what we do. 

How did RDM perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated via phone calls and emails. RDM was very professional and had it all buttoned up. Carol kept everything together and moved the project swiftly — she had exceptional skills at doing her job. 

RDM did exactly what we asked. They were really easy to work with and very flexible. Additionally, RDM moved quickly and took advantage of whatever opportunities were available. They were amenable to taking a shot from a different angle or trying a different approach. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

One thing that stood out to me, especially during our second shoot, was RDM’s ability to work as a team. They were comfortable working with each other, and they were familiar with everybody’s skill set and skill level. It’s difficult to shoot in the car with five people, and you’re running in front of a truck in traffic — there’s a lot that can go wrong. I thought they did a great job doing that and putting it all together. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything — no complaints from me. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would just tell them about my experience, what I did, and how it turned out. Everybody’s needs are going to be different. If we had done something where RDM handled editing and provided us with the final piece, I’d probably have better advice. However, for us, RDM did exactly what we asked them, and things turned out exactly as we expected — in a lot of cases, they turned out even better.
