I’m the director of marketing at an online media company.

What challenge were you trying to address with rankfellas?

Due to a recent algorithm update from Google, we lost a good chunk of our organic traffic. We engaged them to assess the issue and recover traffic.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They started with a comprehensive analysis of our website. From there, they created a strategic technical plan for backlinking, page structure, and copy guidelines for SEO. On top of that, they handled a directory architecture redesign that allowed crawlers to evaluate more pages for us. After they presented the plan, we worked together to execute it.

We work directly with one point of contact who coordinates with the rest of their team.  

How did you come to work with rankfellas?

We found them on an SEO-focused Facebook group. They were recommended on that platform, and we decided to move forward with their services. 

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent about $12,000–$13,000 with them. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working with them since the start of 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since our partnership began, we’ve recovered about one-third of the traffic that we lost at the start of the year. We’re happy with the trend so far. 

How did rankfellas perform from a project management standpoint?

Their responsiveness is impressive. We hear back from them within hours of emailing or Slacking them. They’re also good at explaining technical concepts to our non-technical team. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re honest and transparent in communication, explaining concepts in detail. We were always up to date on progress and were able to receive updates in layman’s terms. They provide a lot of data as well that substantiates their updates. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Everything has been positive and straightforward so far. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Communicate as much as possible and trust them on their SEO expertise. The process can take some time, so that trust is important.

I’m the marketing director of a media company. We own a number of different digital properties, either blog pipes and/or e-commerce, and we run and monetize those across different channels.

What challenge were you trying to address with rankfellas?

We were trying to get greater visibility for the properties. We also wanted to drive more traffic that would convert based upon our target audience. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Their services are primarily around SEO, but they’ve extended that. To start, they did an audit and analysis of our different properties, looking at different factors like technical, on-site, and off-site. They then established the plan for us to go through and slowly gain prominence with our target audience against it. On a monthly basis, they work toward that goal, and every quarter they update the plan with any specific changes needed. 

They also help with on-page conversion rate optimization. We had specific pages with e-commerce or lead generation purposes, and they examined those to see if there were ways to improve our conversion percentages. 

For these efforts, they look at the tagging on different pages, make sure the site maps are properly established so crawlers can get through them, and set up pages for rich snippets. They also have worked extensively on page-speed optimizations, as it is a ranking factor. Keyword selection and content recommendations are also supported by their team. Lastly, they’ve worked to help us gain relevant, outside backlinks to our site. 

What is the team composition?

I have two people I work with directly, Michael (Co-Founder) and Waleed (Co-Founder). I believe they also have a team working behind the scenes. 

How did you come to work with rankfellas?

I came across them after a colleague of mine had worked with Waleed in the past, before he joined rankfellas. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $25,000–$30,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in around April 2019 and our engagement is ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Off the top of my head, our overall revenue for one of our sites increased about 25% since we engaged with them. Traffic has gone up a bit, but flattened out a bit with some recent algorithm changes. Despite that, the revenue stayed above where it previously was, so that can be attributed to their ability to target better quality prospects that convert better. 

Even though our traffic hasn’t increased, our business has grown. They know it isn’t just about getting anybody on the site, it’s about getting the people you want to engage with. 

How did rankfellas perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been great. They actually have a dashboard that informs us on a daily basis the activities their team is working on. Typically, they respond within 12–24 hours to any questions we have. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re more revenue-focused than past SEO agencies I’ve worked with, who are focused on ranking for any keyword and total traffic numbers. rankfellas is focused on finding the highest quality traffic for us because they know it will lead to more conversions. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

One thing they could look into is providing a fuller breadth of services, like creative design or frontend development. Those services sometimes come in conjunction with their recommendations. Otherwise, what they’re focused on is spot on. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The better information you provide to them, the better their work will be for you. Be certain of your company’s goals, understand your target market, and understand SEO takes time and have the patience for results.
