BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the director of an e-commerce site specializing in mobility products for children with special needs. We sell a lot of adaptive bikes, standers, walkers, seats, bathroom equipment, and other items.

Apart from selling directly to customers, schools, organizations, and charities, we also have a crowdfunding app on the site so people can crowdfund the items they need to acquire from us.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Qikify Solutions?

Qikify launched a menu app that integrates with Shopify sites. Usually, the user acquires it on a subscription-based model, and the same client can customize how it looks on their site.

We wanted to implement their menu app on our site, but we needed it to be further customized and adapted to our Shopify theme, and we required it to work on mobile devices. We were asking them to adapt their app to do more than what it was capable of doing at the time.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Qikify worked with our graphic designer to implement her design for our menus. They integrated a custom code in their app for us so that it allowed us to do what we wanted.

There was custom CSS involved in getting everything working right. There was also some custom icon work. Their app had its own icons already, but they were able to add our icons to their database, resize them, and easily integrate them into our menus.

Currently, they still provide maintenance to the app when needed because Shopify does code updates occasionally, which affects the functionality of the menus. For example, they fixed a small issue last year, caused by a Shopify failure, within 24 hours. 

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with at least three people on this project.

How did you come to work with eQuest Solutions?

I did trials on a lot of the custom menu apps that were available on Shopify, There was one that everybody used, but I wasn't happy with it. Then, I saw that Qikify’s app was brand new, so I did a free trial. It was what I was looking for and so much better than what everybody was using. Even though it had some limitations at the beginning, they were able to overcome them.

How much have you invested with them?

We started paying $8 a month for our subscription to the app. Later, we got a discount and we currently pay $75 per year. They’ve never charged us extra for their additional services.

What is the status of this engagement?

I’ve worked with them since September 2018, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have positive feedback from our customers. It’s really easy for them to navigate and find what they want. A lot of people really like the way our site looks.

How did eQuest Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

Throughout the project, they’ve communicated directly with my designer and with the team that worked on our Shopify site. A lot of the communication is through email and direct messaging through the chat feature in their app.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They offer a great piece of software at a reasonable price. They’re really good and prompt at fixing or adapting features as needed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There is nothing I’d say they could improve.
