What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We had no success criterion for the project because it is impossible to create one for a QA/Security audit-related work. Having said that, we know Qalified performed an excellent job since, throughout their 6-month audit/QA of our applications, they discovered several vulnerabilities in our mobile apps, which were then repaired by our team.

They also discovered several security weaknesses in our infrastructure and advised us on how to address them.

I considered their product management to be quite good. They used to make goals for each cycle and share them with us to obtain input on what they planned to achieve in the following round. If we urged them to prioritize something different, they were more than willing to make modifications in the cycle. 

They used to share a report/summary of their results with us at the conclusion of each cycle so that if any big issues were discovered, our team could start working on them simultaneously.

I am Senior Partner and Certification Manager at Brightest GmbH, a global IT certification exams provider.

For what projects/services did your company hire QAlified?

We have been collaborating with QAlified since the beginnings of 2019 to launch and develop Performance Testing United (PtU), and the Certified Performance Tester with JMeter (CPTJM) certification. This particular certification focusses on performance testing, that aims to help pave the path to a global standard in performance testing and the JMeter area.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We have been approached by the 2 creators of the PtU scheme as we had previously collaborated with other expert groups to develop IT certifications. The project perfectly responded to the needs of the IT community and we knew the creators had the experience, knowledge and the right focus to globally lanch a high quality certification.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

We formalised our collaboration with the creators of the PtU scheme at the beginning of 2019. After defining together the framework and model of the certification, they adapted and developped the materials to be used by training providers around the globe. Brightest supported the creation and launch of the exam so that it could be offered online globally, through our partners Pearson Vue. We have further collaborated to develop the availability of the PtU-CPTJM scheme worldwide, creating new partnerships with training providers, adding new languages to the scheme, creating the PtU website and more visibility on social media. etc. The project is ongoing, as more certification schemes, languages, partners will be added in the future.

We have mainly worked with Qualified's Chief Executive Office on this particular project, as he is the co-creator of Performance Testing United. We have also worked with other members of QAlified, in particular their Test Cordinator, in the most fruitful manner.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The PtU CPTJM has been launched globally in Spanish in 2019 and has since grown to be offered in Spanish all over Latin America and in English in the US and India.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We have regular meetings, calls and email exchanges so each step of the project can be quickly and efficiently implemented.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I would definitely like to underline how efficient and professional the QAlified team has been acting from day one. Each idea that was proposed was discussed, developped and enriched. We have also enjoyed greatly how positive our exchanges have been, participating in conferences and events together, starting new projects together and and always seeking greater quality, all the remaining very friendly and pleasant.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

This is truly a colaborative project, so every improvement expected from one party is also to be expected from the others. We will need to improve the visibility and presence of the certification scheme on the global IT market and invest more time and energy doing so as we have not yet explored its potential fully.

We narrowed down to 5 companies that we found online. We looked at customer reviews, and we did a proof of concept with each one. QAlified offered what we thought was an excelente team at a reasonable cost.

Describe the project in detail.

InStyle ERP is a large and complex software package. We have many ways to configure our software, and it is very difficult to test how changes in a new version will affect the different configurations.

We worked with QAlified to create a test strategy that was a combination of a series of automatic tests and a series of critical tests to improve the quality of new releases.

What was the team composition?

We had a systems analyst on our team and a test manager and 2 testers on the QAlified side. We also had software developers involved when needed.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The goal of this project was to improve the quality of new version releases. We track the number of incidents that we have, and we had a 25% to 35% reduction in bugs reported in the first 2 weeks after a new version is released.

We also reduced the time that it takes to complete the quality control cycle, from an average of 12 days to an average of 5 days.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The QAlified team was experienced and guided the workflow between InStyle and their team. The communication was great.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

What I found most impressive about QAlified is that they were experienced and were able to get started right away. When we had a problem, the project manager immediately took responsibility and fixed it.

We enjoyed working with QAlified, and are looking forward to add their testing services to our mobile app too.

What challenge were you trying to address with QAlified?

We needed someone to test our logistics system. We had a new customer whose user base would double the system’s traffic. While we were happy to have the customer, we were worried about whether the system could support that new traffic.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

QAlified helped us to understand the situation we were facing. They helped us define metrics, and then they ran tests on the system to collect those metrics. Following that, they defined the new system and its user base. They ran the tests and scripts again, and then we analyzed the metrics.

Based on our findings from the metrics, we re-evaluated which system services were taking too long to respond. QAlified helped us change some calculations in order to have better response times. They helped us to fix the primary errors or warnings that we found. We also made some changes to the code to further enhance response times.

We know them because the brother of one of our colleagues works at QAlified.

We worked together from April¬–June 2019. We needed help improving the system’s security, and QAlified recommended a company to us.

We were very satisfied with the service they provided. Having better response times was very useful to us.

QAlified was really nice. From the beginning to the end, they helped us. They felt like they were part of our team.

We communicated via email. We also had the advantage of being very close — we were one building away, so we could arrange meetings quickly. We divided the project into tasks, and they delivered on time.

I was very satisfied working with them, and I didn’t see anything that they could improve. They should continue to work as they are.

I am the CEO of Loog Guitars. I founded the company about 10 years ago and it is basically a line of guitars that are designed to make it fun, easy, and stimulating for kids to learn how to play music. It is basically a guitar that comes with an app and flashcards that teach kids how to play.

What challenge were you trying to address with QAlified?

When we first started, we only made guitars and then we started to incorporate an app. When we were redesigning our app, we wanted to make something that would be good for children. We decided we needed to test it and see if kids had a good experience when using the app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We brought the problem to them and they helped us design a solution. They did all the testing and delivered the report to us. It took about two months.

They performed testing for us to see if kids would actually use the app. I believe that they designed a usability test and they actually found different children of different ages and provided the environment to test that. They shot all of that on video and were able to draw some conclusions based on how the kids were using the app.

We were working with three or four people from their team. We had two main points of contact.

We were told that QAlified performed the services that we needed, and they had good references. They gave us a quote and we accepted.

We worked with them from February to April 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We didn’t have a lot of experience in actually testing in real-life scenarios with real users, and they gave us a good glimpse of what that is about and the importance of doing that. We obviously were able to do some tweaks to our app because of the conclusions that we arrived at from the work they have done. 

QAlified’s services allowed us to deliver a much better app than what we would have if we hadn’t partnered with them.

How did QAlified perform from a project management standpoint?

They delivered perfectly on time every time. We had in-person meetings and we also used email. During the process, we were in contact pretty much every day.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We didn’t have any experience with other providers who offer the same service, but we were really very impressed. Not only were they professional, but they were also very willing to help and they worked on the testing with children. 

There are also a lot of things we needed to know how to handle and to handle right, as well as create a nice environment, and they were really able to do that. While I don’t have a similar experience to compare to, I have to say I was very impressed with how they work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

From what I gathered, I don’t think they had a lot of experience doing apps for children, and they just did it really well. There is nothing that I can think of right now at the top of my head where they can improve.  

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would definitely recommend QALified. Don’t be shy in communicating to them exactly what you need. They are very open to what the problem is that you need to solve and they usually provide good solutions for that.

We needed someone to change the UX on the general banner for the branding of our launch.

QAlified did the UX for our web app. We started with a couple of meetings where they got to know our system. Once they fully understood the system, they gave us some documents showing where we could change the order or the color. 

After they tested the application within different mobile devices, they also showed us where things weren’t showing up the right way or as we expected. They suggested changes in different areas.

QAlified communicated well. The work was straightforward without any hiccups.

At first, we had some issues with their English standards but they changed the person who was working with us. During the first meeting, without giving them any heads up, we performed the whole meeting in English because our team uses English. It was immediately fixed on their end.

Since we started with QAlified, they probably identified more than 40,000 different bugs. We have a long story working together and I can say that they provide us a lot of useful information related to the quality of the software we developed. Our customers receive high quality solutions that makes the life of their users easier.

The workflow is very smooth, since we integrate QAlified team members in our process. Communication and collaboration is very good.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They have a lot of experience, much more than any other. They are always looking for new solutions and innovative approaches. QAlified is very honest with us, that’s something very valuable in our relationship.
