• Project management has been excellent throughout the engagement, with Christa doing a stellar job at staying on top of things. They are tracking ahead of schedule on deliverables.

• Communication is continuous and primarily handled in Slack, with responses at almost any our of the day, which makes them feel like an embedded part of our team rather than an external vendor.
• They are highly responsive to our needs and feedback. When we requested changed to how their Asana and GitHub integrations work to better align with our internal processes, they made the adjustments quickly and without friction.

What stands out most is that QA Wolf operates like an embedded part of our team rather than an external vendor. They own the full lifecycle of end-to-end testing, building, running, triaging, and maintaining the suite, while staying in constant Slack contact with responses at any hour. They adapted their own Asana and GitHub integrations to fit our workflow rather than forcing us into theirs, and they consistently move faster than promised, having authored 119 of our 175 budgeted tests and tracking to 80% of the budget by early May. Along the way, they surfaced 33 pre-existing bugs in our applications, well beyond what we expected from a testing partner. When tests fail, their immediate triage to distinguish real bugs from needed test updates means our engineers are never stuck chasing answers.

Honestly, very little stands out as needing improvement. The only friction we experienced was early in the engagement, when we were still aligning their workflow with ours. A few iterations were needed on their Asana and GitHub integrations before things felt fully seamless, but they responded to every request and made the adjustments quickly.

QA Wolf initially engaged with us through a structured 90-day proof of concept focused on building and validating high-value end-to-end automated tests to replace manual regression testing in UAT. During the POC, tests were prioritized collaboratively, mapped to our existing QA assets, and integrated into our release workflow. QA Wolf owned test creation, execution, investigation of failures, ongoing maintenance, and bug reporting, with tests running daily and on demand.

Following a successful POC, we signed a year-long engagement and continued expanding coverage. QA Wolf delivered and maintained a full automated test suite aligned to our evolving product and release strategy, with flexibility to replace or repurpose tests as priorities changed. Approximately six months into the engagement, we expanded test coverage further based on the value realized, increasing the scope of automation and continuing to reduce manual QA effort while improving release confidence.

By the end of the engagement, QA Wolf had delivered and maintained a full suite of 150+ end-to-end automated tests running daily in UAT, with coverage later expanded as additional value was realized. This replaced a significant portion of manual regression testing and reduced the time required to validate releases.

The automated suite executes in minutes rather than hours, providing rapid feedback and higher confidence during release cycles. QA Wolf’s ownership of test maintenance and failure investigation reduced flakiness and noise, allowing our QA team to focus more on higher-value work earlier in the development cycle. The program’s success led us to convert from the initial POC into a year-long engagement and to expand test coverage again approximately six months later.

Equally impressive was the culture and energy of the QA Wolf team. They've brought a high level of engagement, accountability, and genuine enthusiasm to the partnership, which made collaboration easy and productive. The combination of technical rigor, adaptability, and a positive, partnership-oriented culture is what ultimately made QA Wolf feel different from a typical QA vendor.

The main area for improvement would have been clearer alignment earlier in the engagement around test creation velocity and how quickly full value would be realized during the POC. While this was addressed through open communication and course correction, tighter expectation-setting during the sales and onboarding phases would have reduced early uncertainty.

Additionally, ROI modeling could benefit from clearer upfront assumptions and time horizons to make the value narrative easier to interpret without follow-up clarification. Beyond that, QA Wolf was receptive to feedback and consistently adjusted their approach as the partnership evolved.

We had a list of over 200 tests that we were performing manually each month to ensure the quality of our software. Our plan negotiated with QA-Wolf included 150 automated tests. They did the work of taking our list of 200 manual tests, then creating a list of automated tests that would cover such. It then fell to me to go through this list and cut things down to the requisite 150. QA Wolf then wrote those automated tests over the course of 4 months.

During this time and going forward, QA Wolf runs the entire suite of automated tests against a deployed instance of Plextrac. If any tests fail, they investigate to see if the test needs to be fixed to accomodate small changes the occurred in Plextrac. But if they determine that their tests found an actual bug, then they report such to me and my team.

QA Wolf managed to convert our entire list of manual testing while staying in the test budget we were given by management.

Every week, the tests get ran, and QA Wolf finds bugs that have occurred that wouldn't otherwise be caught.

They held biweekly meetings with us to check in on any questions we might have. But they also had an open slack channel where we always got answers within an hour if we ever asked anything.

The one thing that sold us on them compared to every other company we looked at was the ability to have control of the tests that were written if we ever decide to part ways.

But on top of that, the idea that they maintain the tests instead of just writing them and running them was a must for our decision.

Technically, no.

What’s considered a “test” that gets charged for is smaller than what I would normally intuit. This is something I expected coming into this service. And ultimately, I understand the approach from their perspective. Nonetheless, I’m occasionally taken aback when I pitch something as three or four tests. But then they come back and say, “No, we need to break this up into ten tests”.
