Link Reporting integrates with Xero Practice Manager to provide insights into Work in Progress Movements, Staff and Job Performance reporting. Our target market is accountants and those in professional services. I am the CEO and founder of the company.

For what projects/services did your company hire Pratham Software?

Pratham has built the platform from scratch. They helped scope out the initial design and have built the product including all front and back end, the billing engine and managed all the security requirements.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to provide better reporting for users of Xero Practice Manager.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

I was approach by Gulab, the company president who was looking for an introduction to Xero. I explained I needed some help developing my product, and he put me in touch with a team of his who got the project underway.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

The project is an ongoing one as. The more revenue we generate, the more we can invest and expand our team. We sync the data from the Xero platform using a very clever data scraping script and perform a very complex series of calculations to provide insights the accounting industry has never seen. I write the logic in Excel, and design my wireframes in Adobe, then hand them over to my team at PSI who bring it all together in the application we have built.

What was the team composition?

We originally had 5 people on board, 1 team lead, 2 back end, 1 front end, and 1 BA. We reduced this late last year to 1 full stack developer due to cash restraints. We are making good progress in the market so will be looking to expand our resource through PSI in the next 12 months.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Without PSI I would not have a business. I looked at using a developer based in New Zealand but they did not show anywhere near the level of professionalism and competency that PSI did. I have said it before, and I will say it 1,000 times again, without PSI I would not have got my product to market before running out of cash. I am very grateful for their commitment and belief in our vision and product.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

I have always had a project manager at PSI who sends a weekly summary report on the activities, and what is planned for next week.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive thing about PSI is how they manage resource. If someone leaves the team, they will have a 2 week knowledge transfer so the new person joins the team and hits the ground running. Having someone leave our team has never impacted deadlines as they ensure the knowledge transfer is done at their cost. It means we never need to worry about people leaving, or scaling up or scaling down.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not at all.

I’m the director of product development and client services at Beezer, a SaaS platform for building DIY progressive web apps. It’s an all-in-one platform for creating, managing, and distributing your app to your customers.

What challenge were you trying to address with Pratham Software?

We’re constantly working on new functionalities and features in order to be able to accommodate different types of apps on the platform. We needed help with building simple countdown components.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We initially hired them to develop simple countdown components. We then increased the team and they built several components and integrations which are now live on our app. There are components from which you can choose the functionalities to build your app. 

The platform allows any user to go on the platform, create an account, and they create an app. It’s a progressive web app which is a hybrid that can be opened by a browser, but it can also be added to the home screen of a mobile device in the same way as a native app. They work with JavaScript and React. We’re hosting it on AWS.

What is the team composition?

We started with one person and now work with four people. They changed a member from the team two times, but they were really good at finding a replacement very quickly.

They approached us via LinkedIn. 

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about £40,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in March 2018, and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They work very quickly and effectively compared to other companies I’ve worked with. They’re very clear on what can and can’t be done. In regards to the actual coding, we haven’t done a full audit recently. We do have an in-house developer who is happy with the quality of their code.

How did Pratham Software perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was great. The team they provided was very well structured. There was a team lead who managed the tasks very well. He was very good at assigning tasks to specific members of the team. They worked effectively together. He was very good at communicating with me. Sometimes he was involved in the actual product roadmap planning. 

We got weekly reports on the progress of the tasks. They were good with the agile methodology. I’m very happy about that.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very good at communication and manage their time effectively. It was great to work with them because they’re very on point. You could see that they were also trying to be creative where there was a place to be creative in the functionalities.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I had a really good experience with them. The team we got was great.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Sometimes when you have an outsource company, you might feel unsure about sharing a lot with them about your business. We were very open with them about what we were doing. They had access to most of our channels. We got to know them and that helped build this relationship. 

They had a relationship with me, with the marketing director, and with the customer service team. It felt like they were part of our team. You need to make them feel like they’re part of your team and make them understand the mission of the business.
