The scope of the penetration test was to perform both black-box and grey-box assessments of our external network and web applications. The testers acted as both internal and external attackers with limited knowledge of the underlying systems and applications. The deliverable was a detailed report of the findings, with risk levels, technical details of the vulnerabilities, and recommended remediation steps.

During the project, they notified us right away if they found any major vulnerabilities, so that we could take remediation steps immediately. Their dashboard provided us ongoing status of their testing and findings with all relevant details, and it enabled us to easily request retests so that we could confirm our remediation. At the end of the project, we were provided with a thorough report that helped us assess our risk posture. As a result of their assessment and retesting, we have been able to improve the overall security of our applications.

The team demonstrated execellent project management throughout. Their proposed testing plan was detailed, and they met the estimated timeline. During the project, they were very communicative, keeping us informed of their progress on Slack. Their testing was very comprehensive, as they used both manual testing and automated scans. They took the time to understand the publicly available information and intended use of our applications to simulate how an external attacker might try to exploit weaknesses. We also found their retest window of 12 months to be generous, and we expect to make use of it.

We worked with Pen Test Wizard to audit our entire SaaS application and find vulerability. Marko and the team were very clear and detailed about the work involved and explained the process from start to finish. They started the work promptly, and delivered a complete application audit, including some critical patches that needed to be done to ensure the security of the platform. We are still working with the team on the final security assessment and will definitly work with them in the future.

Although the site is subject to regular pentests, Pentest Wizard was able to find one serious vulnerability, alongside a couple of others of lesser importance.

I’m the CTO and co-founder of Avatour. We provide a telepresence platform that combines 360° video and real-time communication, enabling remote users to virtually join and collaborate in real-world locations for enhanced transparency and productivity.

What challenge were you trying to address with Pentest King?

We needed an annual third-party independent penetration test of our platform to improve our overall security posture.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Pentest King provided a manual assessment of the security of our publicly available web application’s functionality, business logic, and vulnerabilities such as those cataloged in the OWASP Top 10. The team provided real-time status updates and a penetration test report. The real-time updates included details of every discovered vulnerability, including an overview, technical description and recommendations on how to fix the vulnerability. The penetration test report was a detailed written summary of the assessment, including an executive summary, key findings, the methodologies followed, and detailed findings. Each finding included an explanation of the systemic cause, risk rating, and detailed remediation steps.

Pentest King reduced our time to fix issues by enabling real-time Slack feedback instead of post-report-only findings. The team also parallelized remediation and testing, eliminating traditional pentest wait cycles. Moreover, Pentest King performed same-engagement retesting, avoiding follow-on engagements or delays. We resolved seven findings 100% during the engagement window. We also produced audit-ready documentation without additional internal effort.

They actually did manual penetration testing that did find some vulnerabilities that we were not aware of. In the past, we did about 7 yearly pentests and all of them, I suspect, were done simply with automated tools and no "manual" attempts to break into the system seemed to have been done. We got a proper test with very well-documented findings this time, and we're delighted.
