The project uses vuejs for the frontend, and python following a microservices approach for all of the backend services. The services were containerized and deployed into kubernetes for orchestration. The project followed a two week sprint cycle, and the Opcito team worked alongside our devops team and project stakeholders.

There were two developers in the team, one frontend dev and one backend dev.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The solution developed allowed for quicker onboarding of new customers as well as better insight for the customers into their GCP environments.

We handled the management of the project internally, and used jira and slack for communication

Their ability to be agile while developing this product and deliver on time with good quality was impressive.

We are building out our web application, and have contracted out two engineers with Opcito focusing on font end development and back end third party integrations.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

This decision was made before I started working with the company, so I am unaware of the section process. We choose to continue to work with Opcito because of the team's acquired familiarity with our projects, technical abilities, communication skills and overall reliability.

Our tech stack includes primarily Ruby on Rails, React, and GraphQL. Technically, we are currently focusing on moving our Rails front end to a dedicated React environment, while making iterative improvements on existing functionality. By building out new integrations, the Opcito team optimize our potential client base. And then by creating new user experiences, we hope to delight those customers and keep retention high.

We have two Opcito contractors, one integrations engineer and one front end engineer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Deliverables always meet acceptance criteria on expected timelines. We value their reliability.

I work most closely with Sachin, a front end software engineer. He takes pride and ownership in his work, and offers valuable feedback to coworkers. He is an effective and timely communicator. We mostly communicate through Slack and Zoom calls, although he is also excellent at creating calendar events and forecasting scheduling needs.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I value their trustworthiness and reliability. Sachin, specifically, is an excellent team member. It's also very appreciated that he is proficient in Rails and React, which is somewhat rare and not to be taken for granted.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There aren't any glaring points to improve upon. Shortcomings are few and far between and we, domestic and offshore teams, share responsibilities for those.

I'm the CTO of a startup focused in the Regulatory Technology space with 25+ years of experience in infrastructure and backend systems design and development.

We had a relationship with a software development agency for DevOps and Cloud infrastructure support that had not been working well for us. I engaged with Opcito to perform an assessment of what had been done previously and prepare recommendations as a precursor to potentially transitioning our production and development infrastructure support to Opcito.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I performed searches on multiple sites looking for a DevOps partner that aligned with my experience in the field. I was looking for a team that "got it" about building, scaling, and supporting cloud infrastructures for startups in a security- and compliance-conscious space.

Of the 3 or 4 I spoke to, Opcito was clearly different from the rest. The cofounders had the obvious personal experience to give me comfort with engaging them to perform the assessment I was looking for.

As the initial engagement was an assessment to see what they identified in our infrastructure as potential areas of concern, I knew some of what they would find, and was using that as a gauge to determine their thoroughness and approach. To start with, they put one of the hands-on co-founders on our project to perform the assessment.

This impressed me. The work product they provided exceeded expectations finding many of the things I knew to be concerns as well as some things I was unaware of. This allowed me to comfortably sign an ongoing contract with Opcito to provide a full time resource and transition off of our existing vendor.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

To start with, 1.5 resources were involved. But we will be transitioning down to 1.0 resources. Opcito was open and transparent that they had few resources with experience in our cloud vendor of choice. So while they did a talent search to find someone that met their team requirements, the co-founder/architect who started our engagement worked through some of the transition planning until the full time resource was found and engaged.

They did a very good job attracting the person with experience in our cloud service platform. So far I've been very impressed with him during the transitional period with the old company which completed on Dec 31, 2022.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

As mentioned above the initial engagement was an assessment that was delivered and was thoroughly performed and executed. Since bringing on the permanent resource for our project, the transition from our old vendor to Opcito has been very smooth, and they've already completed some complex open items with minimal oversight required.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

So far it's been very effective.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their co-founders had the personal experience in the areas they specialize in that made it obvious that they knew what talented infrastructure ops folks look like and could recruit them to their team.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

At this point I have nothing that I would call out for areas of improvement. Our engagement is still relatively early stage, and I'm sure there will be something eventually. But so far, it's been very good.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I had an interview with senior Opcito management and decided based on their approach to development, their experience developing MVPs for startups and their commitment of resources.

We had discussions to understand the software design requirements, after which they showed us a plan of that entailed milestones. They also showed the an elaborate sheet of skill set of each the resources required to complete this task. They then worked on development and we had weekly meetings to discuss the progress and any clarifications in the goals for that week. Overall they delivered as promised.

We had a tech lead, and three other engineers working on the software development. We also engaged with the VP of software engineering as needed.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project MVP was demonstrated from a UI that was coded for the project and it was satisfactory to see an idea come to life.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective. In fact we communicated over email and had a very quick turnaround because of the time difference. We informed them that they would get anything such as design reviews, document reviews and other important.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their commitment and the focus to detail is what impressed me most.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There are a few minor tweaks that they could do. The finalized design could have been reviewed formally so that some design aspects could have been better handled.

I am the Chief R&D Officer of a legal tech company. We have been developing software products and solutions for all legal practice management needs.

One particular application need was the development of an MS Word add-in. This application needed to be integrated with our back end Web application and required special expertise.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Some research on our side revealed that Opcito had the required expertise in this niche area. They already had strong references and our subsequent talks with them convinced us that they would be the appropriate partner for this kind of project.

The project has been divided into two phases. The first one was a grooming phase where Opcito basically analyzed our needs and came up with an application design, including all the features, architecture and work breakdown structure. We are currently in the middle of the second phase which is the implementation.

Although the project may not be regarded as a big project, there are many subtleties in it. There is an API integration with our back end systems as well as many usability considerations. Opcito is doing mainly front end development using OfficeJs and ReactJs whereas back end API's are provide by our internal team.

In the implementation phase we are mainly working with two frontend developers and a QA specialist. In the previous phase also a solution architect was involved.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The outcome of the grooming phase was the general solution approach which was quite important as there were a few alternatives and choosing the right method was crucial. After many discussions and based on various suggestions from both Opcito and our technical team, we believe that we are on the right track now. The development is in progress and Opcito has been delivering timely and fulfilling our expectations.

Based on our request, Opcito is using our devops system where they create tasks and do sprint planning. For communication we are mainly using MS teams and Opcito has been excellent in that sense, being very responsive.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They have skills and experience in the niche area of office add-in development. They really strive to provide the appropriate solution for the problem at hand and do their best to indicate the pros and cons of it. They are sincere and easy to communicate with.

I don't see anything that should be done differently.

The expertise in their area and the pilot done by them was of very good quality.

Opcito has been good in Kubernetes, the solution was to build the cluster and single click deployment over CicleCI. Opcito has been above to take the polyglot services which run as C++, Node, Java, Scala, GO services deployed over GCP, AWS, on-prem had to be converted to containers & then K8S pods. Also separation of dependencies from single repo to independent git repos

The Opcito engineers where able to deploy the services as K8s pods and as a single deployment from CircleCI CI/CD pipeline.

The quality of development and the services deployed where of very high quality.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They are fast to implement solutions and well-focused on DevOps.

Nothing that i know of.
