Please describe your company and your position there.

UniTech Office Solutions Ltd. (UniTech) is a privately owned company with a history dating back to 1946. UniTech originally started out as United Office Machines back in 1946.

Steve Pasloski started the company as a typewriter, adding machine and general office machine sales and repair centre after his time as an Office Equipment Technician in the 2nd World War. Today, Steve’s son Allan is the President and General Manager of the company and has been in the business since 1977.

For what projects/services did your company hire Nuformat Inc.?

We needed a high end router for one of our clients, all of our regular distributor channels were out of stock. We contacted Nuformat and ordered a Sophos XGS 3100.

SOLUTION

How did you select Nuformat Inc., and what were the deciding factors?

Located in Canada was probably the largest deciding factor for us.

Describe the project in detail and walk through their service package.

We had originally ordered the Sophos XGS 2100 however Saif contacted us shortly after placing the order to inform us that that particular router was out of stock and we would be waiting months for it's arrival.

Saif recommended an XGS 3100 that was in stock so we went with it. Shipping was very fast and the project was completed with time to spare.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The reason for the project was to upgrade the internet connection and security for a client of ours. The install went flawlessly and the customer is very happy with the outcome.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They were helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we were able to complete this project on time.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their willingness to help make sure we obtained everything required, even working after hours to make sure the product was shipped out in time.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing that we can think of, everything from start to finish was perfect.

I’m a CPA for Clearwater Professional Corporation, a small full-scope accounting and tax firm that was established in 2015. We have five employees in our company.

We needed IT support.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They did a complete upgrade of our cybersecurity from the old system, including virus protection, firewalls, threat detection for Wi-Fi, hard drives, mobile devices, and more. They continue to provide 24/7 threat detection services.

I found them online, and I liked that they offer the latest technology at an affordable price.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $3,000–$5,000 CAD (approximately $3,000–$4,000 USD) for the initial setup. We spend $600–$700 CAD (approximately $500–$600 USD) a month for their ongoing services.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together around January 2021, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve done a great job of bringing our cybersecurity into the 21st century. They provide monthly reports, and they show us how they resolve the issues and threats they identify. Overall, we’re extremely satisfied with every aspect of the partnership.

How did Nuformat Inc. perform from a project management perspective?

They’re flexible and proactive, and they always keep us informed of their actions. They’re always available and responsive, too. As a result, they’ve met our timelines and budget. We communicate through email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their in-depth knowledge of cybersecurity is impressive, and they provide a good explanation of what’s needed prior to spending money.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wouldn’t want to change anything.
