Previously, I worked for a small venture-backed startup that was just beginning to validate some product ideas.

What challenge were you trying to address with Scout?

We were looking for some design help.

What was the scope of their involvement?

While they worked with us, they were in charge of providing us with UI/UX designs, web design, and some branding components to create our identity. At the time, we were rebranding to a name that would best fit our service offerings.

Scout came up with initial wireframes and basic user flow. While it was a product-focused design process, it did require some marketing work as well. They started with some basic concepts and moved forward to a more high-fidelity design.

We worked directly with one of their representatives. 

How did you come to work with Scout?

I’d found Scout on an online marketplace for B2B companies and wanted to find a way to work with him for a few years.

In total, we spent about $20,000 on the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We collaborated on the project from May–September 2016.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Because they were responsible for deliverables in the early stages of development, we were just looking for broad concepts. While we didn’t track any hard metrics relating to their efforts, their work was well-received internally.  

How did Scout perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team was responsive, performing up to our standards. They performed well in everything relating to project management. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their attention to detail in their designs was impressive. The brand identity was evocative of the look and feel that we wanted. Their work represented the emotion we wanted to evoke from our customers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything specific.

Unstack (recently acquired by Elastic Path) has a Landing Page app in the Shopify App store. Shaun was hired to create an eCommerce theme and associated templates for a fictional store to provide templates that our customers can use to quickly roll out landing pages for their own products. He created one theme which we named "Bellevue". The deliverables were Figma mockups of the pages.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

• Shaun delivered an amazing set of mockups incorporating feedback from the Unstack team at each step.

The project was delayed a bit because of some health issues on Shaun's end, but overall, we were satisfied with the outcomes.
