We’ve just worked with them on the proof of concept that was designed to work on both iOS and Android. We needed to prove that the videos could be uploaded fast enough for people to want to use the service. There will be more work in the future.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

The result was that the proof of concept works, and now we have the confidence to move forward and build the app. The feedback from our client was really good. They were impressed with how fast the project was completed. There were only slight tweaks that needed to be made after delivery.

How did NimbleChapps perform from a project management standpoint?

NimbleChapps can turn things around very quickly, and we never have to wait on them for anything. We’re in the UK, and they’re in India, but they have always answered questions in a few hours. We use Skype, Slack, and Trello to communicate and keep things organized. They delivered the project ahead of schedule.

What did you find most impressive about NimbleChapps?

The team at NimbleChapps are willing to challenge our thinking. A lot of developers listen to your requirements and give you a price. What I love about NimbleChapps is that you can give them the requirements and rather than give a price, they question your thinking and give you their suggestions. They’re very transparent and trustworthy and even offer suggestions that will cost less. We have confidence that they’re working as our partner to come up with the best solution rather than looking after their own interests.

Are there any areas NimbleChapps could improve?

NimbleChapps' payment terms are much shorter than ours, but they did stretch theirs a bit to accommodate the payment terms we have with our clients.

I am co-owner of a software company called VeraFace Enterprises. We specialize in Software-as-a-Service [SaaS] development for small to mid-sized companies that have IT problems but not the technical and programming resources to address them.

We hired Nimblechapps for two projects. One was an iOS game called Scare Prank that had already been started by one of our programmers but who could not complete the app’s functionality. We asked Nimblechapps to come to our aid, finish the design, and help us launch the game.

On the second project, Nimblechapps helped us start from scratch on an iOS app called RaceTrak, which helps runners track their progress and results as they compete in races. We had never attempted a project of this size before, and Nimblechapps was a great partner to help us through the process.

Nimblechapps was much better at keeping up constant communication with us as opposed to other vendors we have worked with in the past. Also, they are good at keeping to their estimated timeline and are exceptional at staying within budget.

The result is an application called ThemeWatch for both the AppleWatch and Android Wear.

I'm an individual who has a solid and well-researched plan to build several mobile and web applications. These will gather and document users' diaries at a close scope and human history at a wide scope. My vision is to correlate and integrate both, keeping in mind the crucial need for an extremely smart technical and UI/UX [user interface/user experience] process and capabilities.

What business challenge were you trying to address with Nimblechapps? 

The majority of freelance developers are beginners  or mid-level at best. The development that was needed for my iOS app, named SociaLog, required deep experience in more than one area, something that is very hard to find in a single developer. Developing SociaLog required experts in coding, UX design, graphics design, web development, API [application programming interface] development, business analysis, and project management.

Today, everybody's life is too busy to accommodate the extra task of manually typing out and logging in everything he or she does every day. In brief, the scope of developing SociaLog is about creating a smart iOS personal diary app. This app, however, is very different from all other diary apps because it automatically understands and collects the user's daily events from various sources according to the person's favorite social network and his or her use of some iPhone functionalities, including photos, videos and calendar entries.

A person just downloads and introduces SociaLog to their preferred social network account and permits access to iPhone's Photo Stream and Calendar, then closes the app and gets on with his or her day. At any point in time, the user can run the app to see a chronology of various interesting moments in his or her life, shown in a beautifully designed storybook that, with a single tap, can be printed on a hard-copy calendar to be hung on the wall.

I went through a couple of discussions with other inexperienced developers before being lucky enough to meet Nimblechapps at Freelancers.com. I noticed the difference from the first conversation with Nimblechapps as they took a professional approach by gathering information with certain basic questions. They then followed up with a quick response, including smart designs and a mockup. The app screens, business logic and functionalities were identified easily and then discussed.

The very first release of the app came in at somewhat less than $10,000.

The project started in May 2015 and was completed in October [2015].

The first release of SociaLog is now on App Store, and I'm currently working with Nimblechapps on a second version, one that will have more functionalities and ease of use. This app was not easy to make. Numerous customizations were done from the ground level all the way to the top design. The people at Nimblechapps are my trusted technological partners on whom I rely totally.

The result was a dating website launching in conjunction with an iOS and Android app. The project is under an NDA [nondisclosure agreement], so we can't disclose any details, but we are satisfied with Nimblechapps's contribution.

Their ability to listen and work proactively without constant management makes working with Nimblechapps a positive experience.

In hindsight, are there areas in which they could improve, or things you might do differently?

I would recommend that they set aside time as a team to write detailed proposals, making sure that we, as the client, can keep track of what is being delivered and when easily. We require 100 percent transparency, so when a deadline is being pushed back, we need to understand why so we can prepare and notify our client.

Also, I would recommend that they build in extra time in the schedule to make room for any problems or internal suggestions that arise.

We needed to upgrade the front of our website including our logo. Some of it was in the graphics and the actual design elements of our site. We're on WordPress, and they used PHP to modernize the site, and improve how it worked.

The initial changes were completed within eight days. Everything was on schedule, and their work surpassed my expectations, especially their design and creative work.

I monitor the traffic every day on the site. I've seen between 25 percent to 30 percent increase of traffic to the site since Nimblechapp's changes were implemented. Our users seem to be pleased with the new design.

Superior. Everything was on schedule. They kept me in the loop throughout the project.

I would say that the biggest challenge was finding quality people to help me with my project. Finding a developer is easy, but finding a good developer has been very difficult for me. I knew when I interacted with Nimblechapps, that they would have the right capability within the team.

I’m using them for their technical capabilities. Nimblechapps works in a couple different spaces for us, such as HTML5, iOS, and Android programming. They’re also doing some work with databases and other Web tools like PHP. We’ve been giving them a lot, but they are delivering for us.

I knew the directors of Nimblechapps when they were working at a previous company, and I thought they did good work. I met them in early 2014. When I found out that they were taking jobs, I used them. The quality of their work has been very good.

This project has cost around $50,000 up to now, but I think that by the time we are finished with the project it will cost me around $80,000 to $100,000. That's what I'm expecting in a year's time.

They have been brilliant. Very professional and very capable technically, so the overall experience has been great up to now.

I think it's too early for me to provide any stats because we are still working on the product, and the product hasn’t launched yet. I think it's a bit difficult for me to provide those right now.

I would say the quality of the Nimblechapps team and their attitude stands out above all else. That's the reason why I continue to work with them. They have been trying to support me to make this venture a successful one.

We approached Nimblechapps after finding them through google as we wanted to develop our own inventory management system. We run a business where we need various hardware parts and need to manage the stock and inventory level for better running of the business operation. 
The inventory management systems available in market contain a lot more features than we actually need and when we calculated costs, it was costly. Hence, we approached Nimblechapps with idea to develop our our bespoke custom software and mobile app for our staff as well.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The effective outcome was that we started to use the new system and we were able to see the change in our process and our business operations experienced a significant time saving specifically in the inventory management.

The team allocated to our project was pro-active and gave us good suggestions to improve the project. The project did stretch a bit with about a month more than expected but, that is fine considering the quality they provided and the interest they took in our idea to make the software easy for us.
