Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?

Each time we met, we seemed to need to start nearly from scratch as he didn't seem to have taken notes from the last conversation. We spent weeks working on a script, only to mostly need to do it ourselves. In the end, it didn't make sense to move forward with the project anymore. Luke agreed to a partial refund of the amount paid and then did not send it. That was incredibly unprofessional and really disappointing, especially because we're an early stage company with limited resources, which he knew.

He could have taken notes during our meetings, so we didn't have to start over each time and could have kept his word related to the refund he promised. He committed to sending it 6 weeks ago and then stopped replying to slacks or emails. He also ghosted the person who referred him to us.

What challenge were you trying to address with New Norml Media?

We wanted to increase our brand’s exposure and online presence. Not a lot of people really know about our company, though we have a lot of good reviews online. We thought that having a video would be a lot more effective than just showcasing small testimonial blurbs on our website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

It was a pretty easy process. New Norml talked to us over the phone and we described our goals and what we wanted to do. We then connected them with our merchant so they could set up when they wanted to shoot. Their team handled everything from pre- to postproduction.

In the end, New Norml created two different versions of the same video. One was over 90 seconds long while the other was only 30 seconds. 

What is the team composition?

I mainly worked with Luke (Founder) and Dylan (Head of Sales). I don’t know how many others were part of the video production crew.

How did you come to work with New Norml Media?

I was looking at a lot of companies within the California area. I spoke to several providers to narrow down our choices, and what stood out to me about New Norml was how they said they made people cry. I thought it was really funny and basically attested to how they could connect emotionally with their audiences.

I spent $1,500 on their services.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project last from October–November 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve just started advertising with the videos, so we have yet to get any kind of statistics or figures. I will say, however, that our internal team was pretty happy with the results. The videos were delivered really quickly because we didn’t need to make any edits. The rough draft alone was already so spot-on. 

How did New Norml Media perform from a project management standpoint?

We mainly communicated through email. We had some calls as well just to keep everyone looped in on what was going on. It was all pretty seamless. Even though I wasn’t at the shoot, we didn’t encounter any issues. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most impressive thing about our engagement is how we were able to rely on New Norml’s expertise. We left everything up to them, and they exceeded all of our expectations. The quality of the final videos made us super happy. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, we were very satisfied with their services.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure that you’ve figured out everything that you want to see in your final video in terms of story or messaging. As long as you have an idea of what you want to accomplish and communicate that with New Norml, then they’ll be able to handle it. They’re experts in video production.

I’m the president of Creative Clarity, Inc., a boutique marketing agency in Orange County, California. I handle budget preparation, annual event planning, events production, brand strategy, creative PR, and more.

I needed help in video production.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I’ve worked New Norml several times now, and they’ve helped me produce videos that feature the companies I work for. They shoot B-roll footage, interviews, and additional clips, depending on our project. Sometimes, they create special effects and graphics to tell the story of the company I’m working for. 

We recently had a project with a construction company, and we visited the client on-site to shoot the video. We also did some projects for shopping center owners, and we showcased their facilities and offerings.

We also worked with a village in Brea, California. New Norml gave a lot of ideas on where we could set up to get the best visual, and they even prompted the person we’re interviewing to make them feel comfortable. 

We also had a project with an aesthetics doctor. New Norml shot a video of her and her staff, and they showcased her story and gave it a personal touch.

Typically, Luke (Founder) and I will work together to come up with questions and set up our background for the interview. We also brainstorm for B-roll footages that we might take based on the location. I send him a list of bullet points that I want to capture, and he also has his ideas.

Luke is my primary contact, and he typically has a camera assistant. 

How did you come to work with New Norml Media?

I saw their work for a food hall in a shopping center I had worked with. I was so impressed with their video that I needed to know who did it right away. As soon as we got in touch, I hired them on the spot.

We started working together in January 2017, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

New Norml’s videos allow our customers to attract sponsors, increase social media views, and get noticed by their target audience — they are excellent and reliable marketing tools. We can do a lot of things with their videos.

How did New Norml Media perform from a project management standpoint?

New Norml is excellent at project management. We’re always in contact, and they always meet and beat my expectations. Additionally, they are fun and easy to work with — they’re very personable.

Typically, when somebody is getting interviewed, they’re uncomfortable in front of the camera. Luke is good at disarming these people and getting them to open up until they’re comfortable in front of the camera. 

New Norml is very hands-on, and they’re good with scheduling. I’m always surprised at how quickly I can deliver videos to my clients.

What did you find most impressive about them?

New Normal has wonderful equipment, and they can do projects even with a smaller crew. Most of my projects have been budget-conscious due to the nature of my clients. New Norml is good at executing so that I can fall within the budget that I have. The finished product always looks beautiful, smooth, and wonderful. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be very open with what you’re looking for, and make sure you know the areas you want to cover. Make sure they’re interviewing the right person — you want key players on your film, not B-level executives that’ll be gone in a month. 

Getting the right person in front of the camera and having pointed questions are important for your videos to succeed.

For what projects/services did your company hire New Norml Media?

We were looking for an explainer video that could give a glimpse of who we are, how centrally located we are and how quickly we are able to meet our clients needs. We wanted the quality of the video to impress the viewer while getting our message across in a simple way.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to get ourselves in front of Adjusters, Agents, Brokers and Restoration Contractors that could use our services. We wanted to put a face to the calls and emails that we were making.

SOLUTION

How did you select New Norml Media?

We came across New Norml Media through a mutual friend in our industry. We had a zoom interview and they showed us some of their past work. We were immediately impressed and got started as soon as possible.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

After meeting via Zoom to go over what we were looking for with our content, Luke and Bre went to work and created a potential script and shot list for our video content. They gave us time to revise their suggestions, though their grasp of what we were looking for was so accurate, almost none were needed. We then scheduled a day for shooting the content.

They gave us all the info we needed to have our location ready for shooting which allowed us to complete it in less than two hours. After filming, they gave us a very reasonable estimate on how long editing would take and provided the finished product well ahead of schedule.

What was the team composition?

The two people I had the pleasure of dealing with were Bre and Luke. I am not sure if there are other people assisting them.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have had immediate and continuous positive feedback from the video. We have sent it to everyone that we can in the industry and it is now in our initial introductions that we send out regularly.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow between Luke, Bre and our team could not have been easier. Everything about our message that we were trying to deliver was understood and they took the ideas and ran with them. Even when I mentioned something not expecting them to help out on it, I would soon get an email saying "check this out" and it would have exactly what I was imagining.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I am most impressed with their efficiency and the ease of working with their team. They were more than prepared and wasted no time in making sure our needs were met and the content was to our liking. The content was of the highest quality and we show it off as much as we can.

Are there any areas for improvement?

None that I can think of, we love the process and the results.

Along with interviewing for the video, Luke has helped craft the campaign’s messaging to drive registration. We’ve used social media platforms for outreach.

Our first video involved a full-day shoot with about seven or eight interviews. It also involved a morning of fitness and exercise around the city. He captured the message of our challenge through all of that.

I saw Luke’s work on LinkedIn. I really liked his vibe. I could see his personality through his work and videos.

Our engagement started in October 2020.

I was spot on in my impression of him and his work. Luke has worked so well with my team. There’s nothing but positive feedback.

We look at Luke’s work to see if he is hitting the messaging, and he’s been 100% on base. Anyone that has interacted with him loves him. They go out of their way to compliment the interaction they have with him after the interviews.

Luke is very efficient with his equipment. He’s fast to get the shot done. He has an idea before he comes in and then sets out to execute that.

I’m the head of operations at AlterCall, a spirituality- and wellness-focused startup.

What challenge were you trying to address with New Norml Media?

We hold a retreat in Arizona, where my mentor owns a large amount of land. There, we conduct spiritual, professional, personal, and financial development training. Unlike other mentorship groups out there, we’re hands-on with our clients, and we help them quickly scale their businesses. We needed somebody to film the retreat for us.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Luke (Founder) filmed the retreat. The end deliverable was a 3-minute long recap video that not only will serve as our attendees’ keepsake but also as promotion for future events. It’s being delivered to the attendees, and we’ll be using it for marketing purposes, as well.

What is the team composition?

I work specifically with Luke. He has some other team members but we didn’t have anyone else come out, since it’s a pretty intimate event. It was better to have a smaller group, given the circumstances of COVID-19. We brought 10 of our clients into the wilderness for the exercise.

How did you come to work with New Norml Media?

I’ve worked with him the past when we worked at a financial group together. I’d always been impressed by his creative vision, so I assuredly recommended him to my mentor.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $7,000. We comped his attendance and other fees that the other clients paid. We wanted Luke to experience the event, as opposed to just shooting it.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together in September 2020. We started talking to him about a week before the 3­–4-day event, which Luke drove out to California for. The project was quickly executed within the same week.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

He delivered a phenomenal piece that showcases the importance of disconnecting from the noise. He effectively portrayed the event in a way that’s genuine while being promotional.

The quality of Luke’s work is amazing, and I’ve never had to micromanage or give extensive direction. I simply have to communicate my mission and he understands immediately. His research capabilities are extensive, and he also asks all the right questions. His contributions were greatly appreciated by my mentor. I get the sense that Luke has robust experience in the film industry and other providers just don’t compare.

How did New Norml Media perform from a project management standpoint?

Luke gave us a faster turnaround than any other vendor we’ve ever relied on. He was able to shoot, edit, and deliver the product within 21 hours. We gave him the edits and he got us the revision that night of the same day or the next morning.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m motivated to align myself professionally with good people who have good hearts, and Luke’s personality is truly special. Instead of caring only about money, Luke is concerned with making a piece of art. He truly goes above and beyond for anybody that he works with. I’ve seen him do it for many other clients.

No, it was a pleasure to have him there with the clients. He’s super professional, and I can’t wait to see where he’ll go with his work.

New Norml Media is helping us with an ongoing process of building content for distribution on various channels like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. As part of that content, they’ve created a promotional video for us, and they also write a blog for us on a regular basis.

How did you come to work with New Norml Media?

They were referred to us through a friend of mine. Once we met, I realized their team is motivated and has a knack for marketing. They understand everything from videography and lighting to speaking in a social media video. It seemed like a more comprehensive offering than other marketing companies I’ve worked with.

We started working together in March 2020, and our work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

In the first 3–5 weeks, I was pleased with the volume of positive feedback from people in my database who came back to me to tell me how good the work was. The impact was especially great for people I haven’t been in contact with for a decade or more, who’ve come out of the woodwork to talk about investing.

The team is proactive, and we have planned sessions where we discuss our objectives for the next week. We communicate via Microsoft Teams, email, or text. Overall, they’re very adaptable.

The intuitiveness of their proprietor is special. With someone who’s not adept with social media vernacular, it becomes difficult to get what you want because it’s hard to describe. They understand what I’m saying and help me get to my goal.
