I’m a partner and creative director of Murphy Nasica & Associates LLC. We’re a political strategy and consulting firm.

What challenge were you trying to address with Fluxtown Productions?

Every single campaign that we run requires media advertising ranging from digital advertising to full-scale commercials for radio and TV.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve worked with them on multiple campaigns. They brainstorm on the creative and conceptualize with us to come up with ideas for the videos. Their team also consults on the script, which I typically write. They improve and help cut the scripts down.

Their team principally works on production. They provide all of the equipment onset, including lighting, cameras, and sound. Their team makes shot lists, creates schedules, and works to secure locations. If we require voiceover, they directly handle auditions and send us different options for us to choose from. They also do post-production.

Their team’s also able to take a video from a concept to a final product without having shot anything. There have been times when we haven’t had the time or money to actually shoot but needed to produce a spot. They’ve been able to take existing assets and work through the entire production process.

I mostly work with one person from Fluxtown.

How did you come to work with Fluxtown Productions?

Their founder and I met years ago when we interned at the same production company. When I was brought on board at Murphy Nasica, I sought a production company that could produce high-quality content at a low cost, which was difficult to find. Fluxtown thought outside the box and worked nimbly to produce videos at different budget levels.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $250,000–$500,000 on their services. Often times, they ask our budget and then work within it.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started our partnership in earnest in 2014, and it’s ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve won multiple national awards for the work that we’ve done with Fluxtown, including best online video for political, best web video national, and best TV ad national. We also win the vast majority of races that we work on with them.

They produce super high-quality content at a rate that doesn’t break the bank. Every single time that we’ve worked with them, we’ve been able to get a high-quality product.

We’ve produced hundreds of ads with them from as short as six seconds to five minutes. Every single one of the videos was delivered on time. It’s been a phenomenal experience working with them.

How did Fluxtown Productions perform from a project management standpoint?

If we're in production, we mainly communicate through e-mail. We also schedule calls to talk through the logistics. Then, they send an estimate of the project's cost via e-mail. We start a feedback loop on that. Once we settle on a price and a date, we get to work. When they’re in post-production, their team sends various cuts through video links.

Most of the time, we go from shooting a spot to a completed ad within 4–5 days. If production wasn't required and the video was created in post, they produce high-quality spots in less than 24 hours. Their team’s flexible and never misses a deadline.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Regardless of the budget, Fluxtown provides the same level of dedication to finding and telling the best story. They consistently strive to tell the best possible version of the story. Their team’s driven and goes full force into every project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’s hard to pinpoint anything for improvement.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You may have a preferred production company. If you were to give Fluxtown a chance on any sized project, you would quickly want to add them to your preferred vendors' list.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the VP of a company that maintains and operates central power plants for three universities. The universities own all of their equipment, and we go in and operate and manage everything in their central power plants.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Fluxtown Productions?

We hired them to overhaul our website. We felt that our website was stale, so we were looking to revamp it. We also wanted to add a video to our website to show what our people do every day. The website and video were less for sales and more for our people, so that they can show their families and friends what exactly we do.

We were also looking to make a recruitment video. It’s very hard to explain to others what exactly we do unless people physically come to our plant, and that’s especially hard given COVID.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

For the website, Fluxtown looked at what we had, and then they designed and developed a brand-new website for us; we started from the ground up. Jimmy (Owner) walked me through everything. I checked on it periodically, and he made sure that what he was doing was what we were looking for. He also set up a LinkedIn for us, since I’m not very familiar with social media, and revamped our Indeed ad.

Jimmy handled the video production from start to finish. He took a bunch of pictures of our employees so that we can do employee spotlights on our website.

What is the team composition?

I just worked with Jimmy. 

How did you come to work with Fluxtown Productions?

I did an internet search for somebody local. We figured we could interact a lot easier and have face-to-face meetings occasionally if they were nearby.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $13,700.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started discussing the project at the beginning of May 2020. They started filming on the 11th of May and finished on the 15th; he was done on his end within a week. Since he completed everything, there have been plenty of times when I’ve reached out to with questions.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

All of our people love the video; they’re super impressed. The video we had before is nowhere near what they produced. Our employees also absolutely love the website; it gives them the chance to show off what they do, whereas before, it was all about the company rather than them. It has provided a morale boost. 

How did Fluxtown Productions perform from a project management standpoint?

Jimmy was amazing with everything. In the beginning, we talked about putting a timeline together, and he was on top of it. There was never a time when I questioned whether something would get done or if I’d hear back from him. He was very responsive and super easy to get ahold of through emails and phone calls. If we had any concerns or wanted to make any tweaks, we let him know, but Jimmy pretty much handled everything from the get-go. Everything went smoothly.

He’s been very helpful walking me through things. I’ve reached out to ask about what I should look for and monitor on our LinkedIn and Indeed pages. Whenever I’ve called, he’s picked up his phone and answered my questions, without wanting anything in return.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Jimmy was an easy person to work and get along with. I felt like what I was trying to accomplish mattered to him. He was on our team and working with us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t complain. Everything went according to plan; it didn’t take long, and the prices were where we wanted them to be. As I said, he still helps out when I have questions.

I’m the director of communication and marketing for All Saints’ Episcopal School in Fort Worth, Texas. We’re an age 3– Grade 12 school.

What challenge were you trying to address with Fluxtown Productions?

We know that our parents and prospective families need to visualize what programs we have and what a day-in-the-life looks like for our students, faculty, and staff. Fluxtown Productions helps us articulate some of those points in a visual and appealing way. They showcase who we are and what we do best.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We have them on retainer. They do event photography for us and videos. We’ve been working with them for more than five years, so they’ve done a little bit of everything. Right now we’re working with them on showcasing our reentry procedures and protocols specific to safety during COVID-19. They’ve done admission videos that showcase what it’s like having a kindergarten student at our school. They’ve also live-streamed our commencement ceremony for us.

My role is make sure the language in the script reflects our goals, but they do all the editing and production.

Fluxtown Productions manages Zenfolio for us and does all the uploading, that acts as a hub for families to download event photos.

What is the team composition?

Jimmy (Owner) is our main point of contact. We’ve also worked with another team member for smaller jobs.

How did you come to work with Fluxtown Productions?

Jimmy is an alum of our school, so we had a preexisting relationship. We’ve continued to expand his responsibilities at the school.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $35,000 annually (approximately $210,000 total).

What is the status of this engagement?

I’ve worked with them directly since January 2014 and our partnership is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Twice a year, we send out links to the photo galleries, and we can see how many people click on those links. They each were in the top three emails that had more than one click on them. The overall experience has been exceptional.

How did Fluxtown Productions perform from a project management standpoint?

Great, I don’t have any complaints. We do just about everything over email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of the video production is great. They’re really great at capturing lighting and completing post-edits. For example, two weeks, he did a video of our head of schools giving an address. The cutting between versions was seamless.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not particularly.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would recommend other customers either wants to provide full creative license or has a specific picture in their head of what they want.
