Describe the scope of their work in detail.

Carolyn provides bookkeeping and tax prep for me. She uses QuickBooks. She reconciles my business transactions each month and provides tax prep services both for the business and personal taxes.

In addition to accounting services, did they provide any other services?

They provide general financial and tax guidance when needed (e.g. optimal contribution/payroll strategies and has advised on COVID-19 situation)

Before working with this accountant, did you have a different accountant? Did you manage accounting in-house?

I managed it in-house and it was a nightmare. It eventually got to the point where I was spending all of February dealing with taxes.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

When Carolyn started handling our books and taxes she found a number of things that not only I had done wrong (not surprising), but that my previous accountants had neglected to find. She’s saved us tens of thousands of dollars and countless hours of time. I used to plan on spending the better part of February preparing for tax season, but with Carolyn’s help all I have to do is sign things.

How did they perform from a project management standpoint?

Carolyn is detail-oriented and is always ahead of deadlines. She is always diligent with requesting documents and keeping things in order.

What are some areas in which this accountant excels?

She took a completely disorganized system that I had cobbled together and loaded everything into QuickBooks and taught me how to use it. She provided clear instructions as to how I should input expenses and what I should do to keep things organized. She is super responsive to whatever questions I may have throughout the year.

Is there something they could have done better or differently?

Not that I can think of.

What advice would you give to someone else considered working with this accountant?

Carolyn is fantastic to work with. Working with her is very easy and she does a great job.
