Project management was mostly smooth, but it has been a really long time working together and there have been some challenges during this period. However, the team understood the challenge and adapted to it as best as they can. Delivery times were maintained and followed as per our discussions. Communication has been super.

I’m a co-founder of a VR company dedicated to kids and education through gamification.

What challenge were you trying to address with Macrobian Games?

We needed an extra developer with some Unity expertise for our VR content.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We were developing a cross between a game and an educational program, and Macrobian Games provided Unity development expertise. We had already done an amount of work within our team, and we relayed the rest of the project to their side. We also provided some code snippets along with the graphics and images for the game.

The Macrobian Games team built against our instructions and improvement recommendations, especially when it came to the design, textures, and effects. They also introduced mechanics for throwing arrows and anything related to life and architecture in the Middle Ages.

What is the team composition?

They’re a team of around six people in total, but we’ve only worked with three of them: Amit (CEO) who is our main contact, Vandit (Founder & CEO), and Niraj (Unity Game Developer).

How did you come to work with Macrobian Games?

VR is a brand-new field for us, and we wanted to find a small-to-medium-sized company that worked on these types of projects. We found Macrobian Games on Clutch, and they were the perfect fit. They had good rates, they were very welcoming, and they were interested to help us improve our project.

How much have you invested with them?

The cost was $5,000, but this was for our “test” engagement, which was necessary to see if we were on the same level in terms of ideas. We’re considering working on many other projects with them for about $10,000 per program.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Macrobian Games in September 2021, and we’re continuing our partnership.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

This program is not online yet as we’re still working with educational and cultural institutions to create the bigger library that it will be a part of. That being said, we don’t have any metrics yet, but our progress is encouraging. We’ve received a lot of positive opinions about the game from the partners and institutions that we’re working with.

Our project is very complicated, but it has moved along quite well with Macrobian Games’ help. It has been a very nice experience, and we’re very satisfied at this point. 

How did Macrobian Games perform from a project management standpoint?

I have a very high opinion about their organization. They’re careful, they take notes, and they put in a lot of effort to understand what we mean. It’s not always perfect, as you can imagine, but they have a solid sense of communication. I’m very comfortable working with them.

They use Jira for project management, and we communicated through Zoom, Google Meet, and email. We also sometimes use WhatsApp for quick exchanges.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Though it sounds corny, I’m most impressed by their kindness. They’re very nice people, and we’ve never had an argument with them. It’s very important to work with a team on peaceful terms, and Macrobian Games has been very helpful whenever we’ve had to deal with stressful situations. Whether it was informing partners about deadlines or needing to make changes, they understood exactly what we needed. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I would suggest that they clarify the services that they offer. I had found out just a few weeks ago that they had a 3D artist, and if I’d known sooner, I could’ve worked with them on some stuff instead of buying assets from places like CGTrader.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They can be a great partner for any project. As a client, you should know exactly what you want and have direction in terms of project management. Even if you don’t know where you’re going, their team will openly accept any changes you request. Just be sure to provide them with solid guidelines and a good storyboard to avoid any confusion.

The developer was recommended to us by our network. We had also received commercials from others but this vendor was the best due to fitting with our culture, their past products, cost estimate, turn around time and professionalism they displayed during the trial period.

We had all our assets made by our design team. The different zones had already been created by our previous developer as well as the rudimentray battle mode and conversations. This vendor however created the entire game flow from start to finish and fixed the bugs of the previous developer. We had some nice features built by this vendor such as: InApp purchases, In-game currency/market. Map function with tracking. Boss battles and some level construction. All the moving parts were brought together by this vendor in an app available on the major app stores.

We worked with the CEO, had a dedicated PM and a third team member who joined closer to the completion of the project.

The project management was great, especially compared to other vendors we've used. They met deadlines regularly, communicated with us 6 days a week via Skype and Trello.

They turned our vision into reality at an affordable price plus their team always had suggestions/solutions for any challenges we faced.
