We needed high-production video content, social media strategy, and studio productions for commercials and trailers. We hired Larimore Production Co. to take that spot and collaborate with us.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Larimore Production Co. provides us with video production services. They film, animate, and edit videos for us, beginning to end. Since we’re a product-driven company, we come to them when we’re launching a new product, and they help us with a marketing strategy for video content. 

First, the team lets us know how many videos they can produce and when they can launch them. They create a script and handle everything from voiceover to special animations and editing. Larimore Production Co. recommends what’s best for our product in terms of video and then helps us position the product in the market. After the videos are completed, they’re published on websites and social media like Instagram and YouTube and played inside retail stores worldwide.

We started working together in February 2018, and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Larimore Production Co.’s work has received positive feedback for its professionalism. Their animations are stunning, and the video’s voice narration and audio are always clear. 

How did Larimore Production Co. perform from a project management standpoint?

They have great flexibility and good follow-through. My communication with the CEO is good; we use email, Zoom, or in-person meetings. As for project management tools, we use Vimeo, Excel, and Google Workspace.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Larimore Production Co.’s experience with the product market distinguishes them from other providers.

I can’t think of anything they need to improve; they’ve been pretty good.

I’m the managing member of Kronos Golf, a micro-balanced golf putters manufacturer.

What challenge were you trying to address with Larimore Production Co.?

We needed help in getting our message and branding out there to make it clear what we manufacture and what our niche is within the golf industry. Thus, we hired Larimore Production Co. to get our message out through videos.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Larimore Production Co. has helped us produce two kinds of videos. The first line of videos focuses on our branding and what we do, and the second one focuses on answering our customers' most common questions for them to see and save time by avoiding reaching out to us with those questions.

The process is very simple. Whenever we need a new video, I talk to Greg (Owner & Operator) about what exactly I need to do in the video. He provides advice and guidance, narrowing my input into key points to write the script, which makes his team’s work more efficient by allowing them to make edits easier. As for the sound mixing portion of the videos, that part is completely up to Larimore Production Co., which I really appreciate because I don’t like to deal with it.

During the editing process, Larimore Production Co. sends me clips of the videos to make sure we’re on the same page. Then, they send a final draft that we review to provide feedback on final edits, after which they provide the final version of the video. We then publish these videos on YouTube and Vimeo, and we also host them on our website.

Some of the videos we’ve done have included animation, which their team is also in charge of. These animations are very basic but helpful to get our message across. They include highlighted keywords and arrows pointing to certain things on the video while I’m speaking to emphasize what I’m talking about.

To film the videos, Larimore Production Co. provides the entire equipment and the studio; I only need to bring the products I want to talk about. They’ve even let me decide the setup I want to be used.

What is the team composition?

I work with Greg and an assistant of his focused on video editing. Although Greg is more involved in the scriptwriting and filming portion of the videos, he also oversees the editing process his assistant does.

How did you come to work with Larimore Production Co.?

I’ve known Greg for a while now, but I didn’t know how professional he was at what he did initially. After I saw some videos he produced to showcase what he was able to do, I reconnected with him for this project. I knew there were other options out there, but after seeing his videos, I was sure of the quality I would get.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend between $20,000–$50,000 per year, so we’ve spent around $200,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around January 2017, but I’ve known Greg for longer than that. Our engagement is ongoing, and we actually have some work scheduled for next week.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The whole concept of expressing what our brand does and how we differentiate our products in the market has become really easy to understand through the videos produced by Larimore Production Co. The few animations they’ve created have turned out great, achieving exactly what we wanted, and they’ve also done a great job of creating beautiful spaces and sets. Additionally, their recommendations are excellent. They’ve even made recommendations on the makeup we need to use to film the videos, which has made the final products very professional.

Our customers' feedback about the videos has been really good, and we’ve noticed more orders coming through. We’ve also got a lot of views on our Q&A videos because it has been very obvious that we aren’t getting a lot of emails from clients asking the same questions anymore. 

Over the years, Larimore Production Co. has met my business needs, adapting to the ebb and flow of my business. Some months, we need a lot of videos, and they always try to work something out to meet my goals.

How did Larimore Production Co. perform from a project management standpoint?

Larimore Production Co.’s project management is great. They’re always on time, and they’re the ones who wait on me at times. Still, they don’t put pressure on me and keep moving the project forward by working on multiple things at once to avoid losing time.

We’re always sure that they’re actively working on our project because they’re constantly asking questions to get our feedback. Additionally, Greg is very efficient at understanding and implementing our feedback.

The production process is very smooth. In the beginning, we tried to go into the video production process without a script, but it didn’t flow well. Thus, we decided to start with scriptwriting, making the process more efficient and reducing the cost of production.

We use Basecamp a little bit, but our projects aren’t usually big enough to require project management tools. Thus, texts, emails, and phone calls have worked out fine for us, and we use Basecamp only to document the scripts.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Larimore Production Co. is excellent at owning the projects they work on, showing great care at every step of the way. They’re a small company, so they prioritize a human approach and ensure to take care of their client’s needs, demonstrating great attention to detail.

Another great thing about working with Larimore Production Co. is that beyond video production, they’ve also acted as branding consultants for us. They’ve worked with several brands, and they constantly strive to learn more about storytelling. Additionally, their team has a very solid background in music, which is an added advantage.

Furthermore, Greg is very professional, but he also treats clients like close friends or even family. Thus, working with them is more of a dialogue than a contractual relationship. He always wants to know how my company is doing and how he can help to tell our story. We grab lunch and catch up whenever I’m in town or nearby, demonstrating great interest in my company.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Not really. One of the things that needed improvement was their equipment, especially at the beginning of our engagement. Although they have very good equipment on hand, they’ve occasionally needed to rent some other equipment. However, they’ve been improving that aspect over the years, and their studio is getting better and better.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t sit around and go for it! If you’re on the fence about working with them, try them for a short video. You will be so satisfied with their work that you will want to keep working with them.

Crystal Media is the leading social media ads management and digital marketing company for the retail industry. I'm the CEO and run the business with my team.

For what projects/services did your company hire Larimore Production Co.?

We were looking to have our client's tell their stories of what it's like working with Crystal Media, so we hired Larimore Production to help accomplish this through a video campaign. They interviewed four retailers across the country and created inspiring videos showcasing our client's businesses and the results they've seen from our services. They edited those 4 videos including great B-Roll into videos we use for social media, and created a few compilation videos which have been our main advertising tool in 2022.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We had done some work with Greg at Larimore Productions previously and enjoyed working with him so it was easy to move forward with him on this project.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

After a discovery call with my team and Greg he took our vision and set up appointments for the four retailers he was going to interview. He worked with three other videographers who could do local interviews since not all were in San Diego where Greg is based. He managed the videographers, coaching them on what kind of footage we needed. He also wrote the questions that were asked to help tell the story of what it's like working with us. Finally his team edited all the videos and we had little to no feedback, they knocked the videos out of the park. It was better than I could have imagined.

We worked with Greg at Larimore, and he worked with a few videographers across the country.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The videos have been a messaging tool so monitoring specific % of growth is challenging. But we have used them in several ad campaigns where several retailers have booked calls from our ads to learn more about our services, and those calls lead to sales. We've gotten feedback on the videos from our partners and potential clients, they seem inspired by the stories told.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Incredibly effect, super easy to work with and prompt.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their ability to get the right kind of story from the 4 retailers they interviewed. They did such a great job sharing the retailer's experiences and results. The videos turned out better than I could have imagined, even brought me to tears!

Is there any area for improvement or anything that could have been done differently?

Nothing, everything was super smooth.

We had a client that needed a refresh of old video assets into something useful and supportive of our video ad campaigns.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We knew of Larimore having been in North County and they were recommended to us. We'd seen their work and knew the quality was good, and overall value of cost for quality was great.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.

In conjunction with all team members including Larimore we produced the scripts to be used. We shared and reviewed all assets for selection. Some video assets had old animations that wouldn't work for 4k resolution so Larimore revamped the necessary slides, edited the final product and delivered ahead of schedule.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked directly with Greg and the process was pretty seamless along the length of the engagement.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The video has been more effective at creating sales compared to the old assets in use. Which was our goal, but not necessarily Greg's. They delivered an exceptional video on budget and ahead of schedule which is all we could ask for!

Fluid communication, clear timelines and expectations up front, very each to work with.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The attention to detail, the thought added to each step, and the ease of getting everything done.

None I can recall from my experience.
