BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the head of product for User Tribe. We do video-based beta testing.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Lab08?

We needed some third-party tools to develop our end product. We wanted a development team to help build a fully integrated software platform.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Collaboratively, we built two Scrum teams from scratch. They have completed four of the five steps of the project. They helped us with capturing, saving, and storing personal information related to the videos and API data. 

They built our infrastructure in a Cloud environment, assisted in building the backend platform, create client studies and videos, and build analytics to analyze videos at a greater depth and speed. They also built a space for clients to view videos and evidence from testing.

They developed our MVP, and then the end-to-end integrated product. 

How did you come to work with Lab08?

I knew some of their team from prior engagements.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about €450,000 so far (approximately $495,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in 2019, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We ran strict Scrum processes. We track velocity bi-weekly in terms of output. We also track docks and starry points. Our MVP was launched at the end of last year while the fully integrated version launched early this year.

How did Lab08 perform from a project management standpoint?

They understand how to work remotely. Their team outperformed previous vendors I’ve worked with. The workflow between us was easy.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re committed to success and give valuable input. They are part of our company, not just a third-party vendor.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We were all learning daily through this. There were some challenges when we didn’t evolve at the same pace.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Decide what you want to buy: hands and people, or a team to co-develop with you. While hands and people might be cheaper, there’s more risk. If you want the security and strategic relationship of their team, it comes at a premium.
