They provided us with staff augmentation services. We outsourced software engineers from them to complement our team.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve completed around 8–12 projects with them. For most of the projects, they were involved from the beginning to the end and provided us primarily with full stack developers and specific skills in the areas of VR and AR.

They also assisted us in the commercial process. They provided us with advice to help our clients understand problems in addition to supplying solutions. In most cases, we had to bring the developers before the end client to validate their skills. They had access to all the documentation of the project.

On the commercial side, we were in contact with all the C-level partners of the company, and on the operation side, we worked with around 20–25 people.

Our team handled the project management on our side. Kreitech came to some meetings with the end client and provided the modeling in the perception of the project to bring extra muscle to the project.

The communication and project management tools depended on the client’s preference, but we primarily used Slack, Zoom, Google Meet, and Asana.

They were trustworthy, and we knew that if they promised something, they would deliver.

One improvement they could work on would be scaling and growing into other capabilities.

What challenge were you trying to address with Kreitech?

We were looking for a company that could operate as our development department.

SOLUTION

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Our app is in the App Store with a 4.8-star rating and around 2,500 downloads. We also have several hundreds of user accounts and coaches using the platform to run their coaching business.

More important than that, the app works well, which speaks about the quality of Kreitech’s work. Additionally, they’ve helped us navigate the App Store reviews and updates, which is great. We’ve experienced some issues regarding some of those App Store updates, but Kreitech has always handled those issues well.

How did Kreitech perform from a project management standpoint?

We work on monthly sprint cycles, and Kreitech always delivers on time and on budget. We have a shared Slack channel through which we communicate daily, and we also use email. We have a Trello board for project management, so we can always see the activities they’re working on and the backlog of work.

Additionally, we have a Google Meet call with their team at least once a week to talk about the work we’ve done and what’s coming up for the next sprint cycle. Overall, Kreitech has been great at leading our development department as we had hoped.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Kreitech has done what they’ve promised, which is hard to find in this space. I highly recommend them — that’s why I’m leaving this review.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would have been great if we had done more long-term vision planning early into the relationship to understand the full direction we were going. However, that’s a challenge for every startup company, so I share responsibility for that. Still, long-term strategic planning is something we continue working on as a group.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Spend enough time with them, ensuring everyone is on the same page with a long-term strategy, and get their feedback on how to address it. From there on, simply trust them. Kreitech has a really good team, so as long as they understand your vision and direction, they will get it done.

How did the company perform from a project management standpoint?

McGee has been a great partner to lead our business in a way that we had hoped. We use a Slack channel to communicate daily and see what’s going on, what will be next, and where the sprints are. We’ve also got a weekly meeting to talk with the full team on what has been accomplished, next week, and the spring cycle.  When it comes to project management, we use Trello.
