I am CEO of the software company that develops cloud platfrom for crop monitoring

For what projects/services did your company hire KERNELBAY?

My project aim is to develop a model of yield loss estimation and monitoring based on a series of vegetation maps of the field. But I was wondering if it is enough to simply analyze the change in the vegetation index to more or less accurately predict crop loss.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Kernelbay brings the idea the prediction can be improved by enriching the simple vegetation activities data. For example, collecting such as temperature at data analysis points, wind strength, soil moisture, atmospheric pressure, and many other parameters that are available for analysis. By enriching source data, we can find insights, patterns, anomalies, and correlations between initial and enriched parts and thus significantly improve the results in a single field.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

There were the following project stages:

• Uploading the initial dataset
• Retrieve synthetic data from images
• Enrich it with the environment data (Kernelbay used Latitude and Longitude to retrieve the exact location of the fields)
• Data preprocessing
• Apply Machine Learning algorithms and Statistical methods
• Develop a service for forecasting

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We bring to the project PM with basic knowledge of the business area. Kernelbay allocated Data Analyst, Data Engineer, and Data Scientist.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project allows forecasting yield loss more precisely (about 10%) with enriched data

The communication between our team was smooth.

Sometimes we need additional communications to agree on outcomes

For what projects/services did your company hire KERNELBAY LIMITED?

We used the Kernelbay solution to enrich the dataset by enviromental data and analyze the dependencies between initial and enriched parts in order to create the ML model for sales prescriptions.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We found only few vendors who have ready to use augmented analytics solution that cover our use case. Kernelbay made a short PoC that was on the money in terms of our vision.

We had a large dataset with sales data of big toy shops network. We needed to build ML model for weekly rollout sales prescriptionsn based on consumer behavior predictions.

Kernelbay enriched the dataset with broad range of parameters which define the envronment at location and time each sales transaction proceeded. Then they provide us with correlations, insights, patterns and anomalies and build the ML model for sales prescriptions using forecast of that enviromental parameters.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We got the really excited results. More than a fifth of transactions were impacted by external factors. We retrieved these factors and built very effective sales prescription model.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They had amazing solutions and reliable experts. We used Jira, Slack, AWS CodeCommit for collaboration.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their approach to work with data is to enrich the intial data with external data. They have experience to deal with a lot of sources of available open data.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

In this project, we were quite satisfied with the service
