Requirements gathering:
Intech House worked closely with our team to translate a high-level product vision into detailed hardware and firmware requirements. We focused on creating a compact, minimalist table lamp with smart features aligned to our brand aesthetic.
Hardware development:
They designed a custom PCB that fit the housing we provided, selected components suitable for BLE communication and low-power operation, and managed sourcing with availability in mind.
Firmware development:
They built the embedded code to handle input from sensors (ambient light, motion), control LED dimming and behavior, and maintain Bluetooth communication with a mobile app (developed in parallel by another partner).
Prototyping and testing:
They assembled a fully working prototype, conducted initial QA, and supported our team in internal user testing with a few clients.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Functional prototype delivered on time. The first working prototype was ready within 4 weeks, allowing us to start internal testing right on schedule.

In sleep mode, the prototype consumed less than 0.3W, which met our initial energy efficiency goals.

Based on the outcome, our team decided to move forward with preparing for small batch production and potential retail launch.

I was the Project Manager of the Archive of Electronic Documents Project (Project AED) on the part of the state archives. I was also the Director of the Department of records management and was substantively responsible for the complete project implementation called Archive of Electronic Documents.

The main goals of the project Archives of Electronic Documents were:

1. preparing the appropriate infrastructure enabling long-term storage and maintenance of archival materials in electronic form,
2. enabling organizational units to transfer archival materials in electronic form;
3. providing State Archives with a tool enabling acquisition, verification, authorization and management of stored archival materials in the digital form,
4. enabling the search and direct access to archival material in electronic form retrieval to the state archives to citizens. We needed an AED system designed in microservice architecture software and developed from scratch. The vital project part was also to integrate with the internal systems of state archives and external systems - including those provided by public administration. The solution security was essential because the system AED was intended to store and manage priceless documents constituting archival materials.

The vendor company had already successfully cooperated with archives on other projects before. However, in th case of the AED Project, there was a competitive tender, and the Company's offer turned out to be the best. In addition to the price, the issue of work planning, project management, communication, and warranty rules played a crucial role in the assessment.

The scope was to design and create a complex AED system providing extensive functionality and a high level of security. The leading technology was JAVA + Spring Framework. This designed system should have worked in microservice architecture software and coordinated numerous Polish units. Part of the functionality has been achieved before integration with ready-made open-source solutions.

The vendor development team had an enterprise architect, business and systems analysts, software developers (both backend and frontend), security specialists, software testers, and a project manager.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The vendor company needed to provide a high-security level and task responsibility. They also had to ensure seamless integration with other internal and external systems. The company was such a vendor. We received a well-done product, and what’s more – the electronic system of documentation that was well-managed and ready to use immediately.

We had a project manager attentive to every detail and task. We provided regular project meetings to talk about project status and discussed possible problems. Those meetings were attended by representatives of the development team (e.g. architects, programmers, analysts, and testers) as needed. We received periodic reports and also additional reports we need by request. The whole cooperation process was easy, friendly, and effective. We used email, Webex and Redmine for constant communication.

Their high delivery standards and technology choices provided strong security to us. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The system is working well, but the user needs to change over time, and new ones appear, which is why the system is constantly developed. When it comes to the design process and developing software - some issues required refinement, but it was done on an ongoing basis, as needed, to obtain optimum product quality.

The main goal of this project was to create seven different types of UAVO platforms:

• Patrol Platform – equipped with electrooptical heads with light and infrared sensors. Research Platform – equipped with trays designed for air pollution analysis.
• Research Platform – equipped with specialized sensors able to evaluate onsite environmental contamination by chemical substances.
• Research Platform – equipped with a sampling system for chemical analysis.
• Research Platform – equipped with an NDVI camera to assess the degree of decomposition of biological flora.
• Unified Exploratory Platform – consisting of a Repeater (signal carrier platform) and Mini-Observer equipped with a lightweight camera to monitor the interior of buildings.
• Photogrammetric Platform – equipped with a proprietary imaging navigation system that allows for movement in hard-to-reach areas.

The solution was complex, and we needed true tech experts to provide A-level tech services. They used Linux in C++ and Python, firmware for devices in C language, and an application developed in Qt environment in C++ together with the QML language. All systems were being developed and adapted to the user’s needs.
