BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the co-founder and CEO at TruAdvantage.

Since 2001, TruAdvantage, an award-winning IT and Cybersecurity consulting firm, has served over 100 small businesses, medium-sized companies and healthcare practices located in San Jose, San Francisco and the Bay Area and has helped them derive a great return on investment from their technology.

Our primary area of service is the Bay Area. We also have clients with branches in Southern California, other US states, Europe, and Asia.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire InfoGuard Cyber Security?

The biggest challenge for us was to establish ourselves as the top Cybersecurity firm in the Bay Area. We needed a world-class Security company to partner with and be able to provide high-level security and compliance consulting such as:

• Network and Cloud security to our financial, banking and multi-branch clients
• SOC and NIST compliance
• ISO and HIPAA compliance
• Security Awareness and Education to employees

What were your goals for this project?

• Expand our security and compliance solutions to better serve our security-conscious clients in banking and financial industry
• vCISO: proving vCISO services to our clients through our Security partner Infoguard
• Compliance: Provide Compliance consulting and strategy for HIPAA, NIST, ISO and SOC
• Cloud security: create a strategic and tactical plan to enhance our cloud security and create best practices for Azure and AWS

SOLUTION

How did you select InfoGuard Cyber Security?

Our team started the selection and research process by reaching to our IT professional network. We initially selected about 8 Security firms throughout US and interviewed each for 30 minutes.

We narrowed down the list to 3 and started comprehensive vetting through meetings and demos. We ended up choosing Infoguard.

Infoguard’s CEO Robert and his team were professional, pleasant to work with, knowledgeable, process-oriented, and most importantly had very prestigious clients such as NASA an E-bay who could vouch for them.

Describe the project in detail.

With over 100 clients, we have done and are doing multiple projects with Infoguard. The very first project was for one of our financial clients with multiple branches in US and Europe.

The project was to evaluate the Cloud security of the firm and provide a full gap analysis with a remediation plan. The project deliverables were:

• Providing Visibility into Cloud Services, Applications, and Users Activities
• Providing Shadow IT Risk Assessment
• Reviewing Contracts with Cloud Service Providers
• Providing Continuous Monitoring
• Enable Federated Authentication and Authorization
• Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on all Cloud / SaaS apps

What was the team composition?

The initial engagement started with Infoguard’s CEO Robert and their Sr. VP. We were assigned a project manager with weekly sync-ups. The technical evaluation and implementation were by their network and security team.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The overall outcome of the project surpassed not only our expectations but also our client’s. All the objectives of the project were met: A full risk assessment of the Cloud apps and infrastructure was completed along with a gap analysis.

A remediation plan was created and delegated to us (TruAdvantage) for implementation MFA was enabled for all cloud apps of the client. The project started in 2015 and I am glad to share that today , they are still involved with our client and serve as their vCISO.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The collaboration and mutual understanding between our team and their team is what has made this a true partnership. Weekly sync-up meetings, process and efficacy, and great communication are the main pillars of our partnership and has led to a very effective workflow.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Infoguard’ s team is forward thinking, flexible, client-driven, pleasant and fun to work with. We look forward to our weekly meetings.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I cannot think of any major areas of improvement at this moment. There were certain security projects that were not delivered within the planned timeline but that was communicated with us throughout the process and was understandable.
