I’m the founder and CEO of a company called SadaPay, a financial institution regulated by the State Bank of Pakistan. We deliver financial services to the hundreds of millions of people who are in Pakistan, and who are excluded from the financial system.

What challenge were you trying to address with Humbleteam?

They helped us with the original iterations of the first designs for SadaPay.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our engagement started as project-based where we assigned them a few prototype screens and flows. Then, after we raised some money from great investors, we’ve taken them on for an open-ended long-term partnership. We also had workshops to decide what the scope of the project should be and what our users expect to do, and more. 

They’ve built out the complete UI and UX design for everything that we have today. The team conducts weekly design sprints.

We’ve worked with Anton (Design Lead & Co-Founder) and Daniel (Design Lead). 

How did you come to work with Humbleteam?

I saw their work on a site called Dribble, and it was very aligned with what we were looking for. That’s why we hired them.

It was in November 2018 when we first engaged with them, and we’re still working with them.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Design is very subjective, but I think that’s what they’re very good at. Everything has been positive and we love working with them.

How did Humbleteam perform from a project management standpoint?

We use Trello, Figma, and Slack. We use Slack for communication, so we’ve invited them to our company’s channel as guests. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have incredible attention to detail, and they’re always using the latest trends in interface design. A lot of other designers just pick up one style and they stick with that. The team is really good at staying up to date — if they design something today, it still looks fresh for a few years.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they’ve been awesome. They just have one designer whose English is not that good.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

What we did was to have wireframes and a prototype beforehand because maybe their expertise is best used on the actual creative design such as conceptual stuff rather than iterating through what the customer would actually want. They’re definitely much stronger on the design side.

A friend who’d worked with them before and was happy with the results introduced us. After talking to them and reviewing their portfolio, I was certain they were a perfect fit for us.

After we signed a contract, we had two calls where we discussed our goals and shared our experience with them. They were professional and started contributing ideas right away. One week later, we received a new flow concept. We made a couple of changes and integrated data from customer interviews they performed to create a final concept. From there, we worked in sprints with weekly calls to discuss next steps.

We worked with a project manager and a designer. We also had a couple of calls with their art director.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

While we’re still testing some pages, the home page, registration page, and preview page changes have already brought in enough revenue to cover our expenses.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

It was very effective. We had a weekly scheduled call, but they were available over the phone whenever we needed them. Their designer joined our Slack channel, and he was accessible nearly 24/7.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They have outstanding UX/UI designers and their communication was exceptional.

No, not that I saw. They were pretty much perfect.

We needed a mobile application to demonstrate our capabilities as part of a £10 million ($14,313,550 USD) funding pitch.

We wanted great UX and UI designs that kept true to the brand concept.

We searched for innovative designers on Dribble and shortlisted five agencies in the United States and Europe. After speaking with each agency, we chose Humbleteam because they had a collaborative approach, and strong design and UX skills. Anton, our main contact, was very professional and assured. The whole team had great ideas as well.

The mobile app explains how we would improve customer outcomes to funders. Prior to the engagement, we researched and built the wireframe on UXpin; this process lasted one year. Humbleteam completed more research into our area of interest then scoped the project. They created UX wireframes with branded illustrations. The team completed development in a relatively short amount of time.

They adjusted the team size as needed. Humbleteam also hired a third-party project manager.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

They improved the initial design concepts while upholding our brand identity. Feedback from stakeholders and industry colleagues has been excellent. We particularly enjoyed the mind maps and the flow of the screens.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our daily meeting and regular reviews were very effective for prioritizing tasks. Not only did the team have an impressive breadth of skills, but they also delivered on-time and within budget. The developers felt as though they were part of our team.

I'm a product designer for a small-to-medium-sized startup. We create an artificial intelligence app that prevents car collisions on the road.

What challenge were you trying to address with Humbleteam?

Our business is growing, and we were still in the process of expanding our in-house design staff when we started our UX/UI redesign. We needed an additional boost to finish the project quickly, so we worked with Humble to supplement our resources.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They primarily provided UI and motion design, which included helping us develop a new style guide for our product's look and feel. We had a pretty clear vision of what we wanted our product to do because we'd been working on it for a couple of months in-house, but we had no concrete plans in terms of the mood we wanted to create visually. Humbleteam worked with us to find the most powerful voice for our content by drafting a number of different designs and creating the icons for our app. They also prepared the motion design plans for our developers and assisted me on the UX work.

I mostly worked with one of their visual designers, who also served as a project manager, and then I also worked with one of their UX designers.

I found them on Dribble while I was looking for freelancers to hire, so I reached out to one of their team members. They seemed really on top of things, offered great insight, and had solid work experience.

We spend between $4,000–$5,000 per month, so in total it’s probably going to be around $30,000.

We started working with them in October 2017. Our project is supposed to wrap up in March or April.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They take direction really well, but they're also willing to give us input. It's a very comfortable partnership, which has been really beneficial to us as a startup trying to build our own design team. Having an external team to work with has been awesome and makes our product a lot smarter because we have fresh eyes and a fresh voice weighing in on things.

How did Humbleteam perform from a project management standpoint?

Since they're in a different country, we mostly communicate through Slack and video calls. They're highly punctual and always available, even with the time difference. I was incredibly impressed by their flexibility and willingness to adapt to our schedule even though it wasn't always convenient. They worked weekends for us, and even worked throughout the winter holidays to help us reach an important deadline without any slowdown. They've had a huge impact on our ability to meet our goals.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They offer quick turnaround times and their output is always high-caliber. We receive material from them a couple of times per week, and anytime we need to make changes, it's because we've decided to make a change to the project, not because we don't like the quality of the work.

They're a really great option for startups that need to move quickly and efficiently but are lacking the internal staff. They don't need to be hand-held—they'll go for creative designs without veering off-course and wasting your time.

The scope of work was actually quite expansive: Humbleteam needed to redesign a website with approximately 30+ pages and then make numerous optimizations after the launch of marketing campaigns we’ve been responsible for. The key deliverables: design prototypes in Figma and reports from design researches. Post-launch, Humbleteam provided design mockups for UX/UI enhancements based on users’ feedback.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Upon the completion of a new website design project, we’ve seen a significant increase in site engagement (up to 30% for the time spent on pages) and nearly the same 30% increase in conversion rates after the optimization cycle. Additionally, in-person feedback from our users regarding the website's new design has been overwhelmingly positive (which is hardly a statistically significant thing, but still).

Humbleteam's project management was great. The team delivered everything on time with proper timing prior to starting working on tasks, so the whole process was transparent, and our expectations were well-managed. I’d like to notice frequent stand-ups to ensure that we all were always on the same page.

What impressed us most about Humbleteam was their ability to strike a balance between following our specifications and jobs-to-be-done and asserting their expertise with the fintech industry when necessary. Their team had a deep understanding of our objectives, and they worked as a great design partner rather than just a subcontractor following instructions.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Humbleteam could have done differently?

In terms of improvement — it would be helpful for us if Humbleteam provided more detailed breakdowns of their working process and the billable hours spent on particular tasks. While they were thorough and professional in their work, providing a more in-depth breakdown would help us manage the cost more efficiently.
