We selected them because they displayed to us through several portfolio examples and other reviews that they had an excellent knowledge of the kind of complex Web design and coding requirements we had. Their communication through the initial hiring process was excellent, and I felt confident they could deliver on our project goals.

We had an initial meeting online, where I was introduced to their team. We discussed my requirements, they then came back to me with various options to get the work completed. They went above and beyond, jot only with their patience and understanding, but by making suggestions for things I hadn't even thought of.

We had contact with their main project manager and were assigned two developers who both worked with me to deliver the website.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

They did a fantastic job at turning a very basic wordpress website into a fully functional sound library that is now regarded as an industry leader in our field. We now have a subscription service that has increased our sales 100%. The quality of the work completed far outweighed our expectations and we have had no issues with the work completed.

Communication was excellent. The quality of their work and their skills was exceptional. But most importantly, they were extremely patient with us, when we had to make last minute change requests. They listened, delivered, and were polite, courteous, and professional throughout.

I was most impressed by their advanced knowledge, code and the quality of the work completed.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No, there is nothing I feel needs improvement. Everything was perfect from start to finish.

We needed to completely rebuild our organization’s website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our initial conversation was with a team of consultants, and we provided them with a basic idea of what we needed. Initially, we just wanted an informative website, but we expanded the scope to add in more features and make the site more engaging. Based on these conversations, Helpful’s team created the entire development plan.

They also provided a team of project managers who broke the work into pieces, starting with design and then UX development and so on. After the site was built, we went through multiple rounds of testing, where they gave us a live demo of every section of the website to ensure it was up to our standards.

Our in-house consultant reviewed their code and development work and gave final approval.

The site was built entirely from scratch on WordPress. Our existing solution was just a one-page website, so we didn’t require anything else from it. As we’re a social cause organization, we wanted to have an emotionally engaging website, as well as a donation feature that generates receipts for the donors. This allows them to qualify for a tax write-off. Their design team has created the entire design.

Helpful also does on-page SEO. Their team generated a list of keyword options specific to us as a nonprofit. They did this through research and consulting key personnel in the industry.

We’ve been working together since January 2021. The website is finished, and they’re only working on SEO right now.

They gave me more than I expected to receive. The engagement has been very rewarding for myself and my business. Traffic has been increasing throughout the engagement thanks to their SEO.

They delivered the website before the deadline. We communicate over Zoom, phone calls, and in-person meetings. We connected well during the phases of development; they also provided data from their project management tools, which allowed us to monitor what was going on in the development.

The most important thing that they’ve done is nurture our idea. They took it and turned it into a great concept. Their project and product management resources have great knowledge of all the necessary technical aspects of our project. Even with only my words, they understood what we wanted and developed visuals that exactly matched what I anticipated.

I’m not able to pinpoint anything to tell them to improve.

Rely on their team and share your thoughts with them. Their team will be able to nurture your idea and make something great of that idea, allowing you to dive into a profitable business. Even if you can’t see progress happening, there’s usually work being done in the background. Just rely on their process and methodology.

We hired this team to create a new website for a popular collectible trading card game. The project is very huge as it combines the best merits of several other established information websites for this game.

Our goal was to create the number 1 go-to-website that people stumble upon and continue to visit in the future and not use other websites for different content, because unlike the competitors we have all the areas covered.

First we tried with developers in our country and were vastly disappointed. They didn't fully grasp the scope of the project and just wasted our time and money. When we searched for developers online their team came up on top. We reviewed their past projects and decided to take the plunge.

When we contacted and showed them our project and it was not long after we realised that they were the team for that job just based on the experience from the quoting process.

The quoting process was quite long as this is a huge project. We had a 100 page document describing the scope of work. It was written in our language and needed translation in English. After translating we decided to add a few more explaining of the project here and there and the new document was 150 pages.

After the team gave us a price quote and we agreed on it, they began with mockups of the home page and several other pages. The designer that worked on our project is very skilful and changed on the fly the things we didn't like until we reached the perfect composition of elements, backgrounds and effects.

In the meantime a developer was working on the database of the cards. We are getting all the card data from an API and it involves 10+ cron jobs to keep the data current and maintained. After this task was done they began developing each page one by one in Laravel. Even the simpler pages have custom drop down menus that don't use a plugin but have to be developed from scratch.

So to sum up the technologies used are Laravel, mySQL databases, bootstrap, numerous APIs.

A project manager handled the whole quoting process as well as the database engineering. Two other backend developers work on the project and a designer caters to the frontend part of the website. The communication with the team is either through the project manager or the senior backend developer with whom we discuss the issues in detail.

As the project is still in progress I cannot give any measurable outcomes.

We are having daily meet-ups with the senior developer who is discussing any issues with us. If there are delays they assign more team members to catch up with the task. We use zoom as communication tool.

I was impressed by their enthusiasm to handle any task, no matter how difficult or time-consuming it may be. We were astonished by their expertise in different technologies.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There aren't any issues at all. All the bugs are being fixed as part of the development process.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Whenever we need technical help or have to build out difficult databases, we hire Helpful Insight. We generally work with WordPress, and their services include creating custom plugins, custom-written code, database queries, and more. Usually, we provide an example of what we want and they build based on that.

Recently, they built an entire booking website for a rental company using Laravel so that it could be more stable and secure. We provided the designs for that website, and they handled both the front- and backend development. We did the designs in Adobe XD with all the links within it along with a description of the functions. They understood how the website should work quite quickly. The team continues to provide technical support, and I’m always in touch with them whenever a new task comes up.

I usually speak with their salesperson, but I also interact with two of their developers. If it’s a project that requires more input, I talk to a developer.

We always looked for people to hire on Freelancer and Upwork. In this project, we were only looking for a freelancer, not an agency. We hired some people for this work, but after a year, they’d stop responding. In the end, we found Helpful Insight to be trustworthy based on a European-based review company.

We started working together in October 2018, and we continue to collaborate. Our booking website went live in July 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’re happy with Helpful Insight’s work and results. We started off small with them and have now been working together for 3–4 years. We’ve completed a project with them for quite a large company in the Netherlands, and they've done their job well. The website is still up and running and doing fine, and our customer is happy with the website.

Overall, their design and technical skills are great. We haven’t found any bugs because we do all the testing in-house. More importantly, we haven’t found anything that speaks of poor code.

How did Helpful Insight Pvt Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

They have a clear process; if I bring them a small task, they say they’ll do it right away. If it’s a bigger task, they’ll let me know that they need several weeks. Then, if they’re not able to reach a deadline, they let us know in advance that they need more time. We communicate on the Freelancer platform. In cases where I need to speak to a developer, we set up a Zoom or Skype meeting.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Helpful Insight does a good job of understanding their tasks and our needs, and they think ahead of us. Once they identify a problem, they inform us and propose solutions. They’re also good at communicating in English, which is quite nice because we don’t have to explain things multiple times. They’re better than previous providers we worked with who had a poor understanding of the English language and had poor knowledge of what a customer like us expects.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nope, everything is fine!

Clarify all the things before you start, such as functionalities, deadlines, and more. If you challenge them, they’ll do their best to get results.

Communication is key and we have felt all along as if we had an extension of our company rather than a 3rd party working for themselves.

we are in constant contact with each other during the entire development process. your communication channels are short and unbureaucratic. Management and developers can also be reached outside working hours. the system consists of application server and database. it is scalable and processes many in the background.

the team consists of software developers. there is one main contact person. during the whole project phase there was just one change of personnel. however, the old developer is still available. i welcome it if the people and their roles in a project do not change constantly.

Working with them is cost-effective. I’ve been in the IT industry for over 20 years and have seen a lot of people come and go. We also have to be very sensitive around security. I must say it’s been the safest process. We slowly built up the relationship to the point where we can work with someone we trust. They get jobs done on time.

How did Helpful Insight perform from a project management standpoint?

We’ve done things a little bit differently. We use a platform where you manage all your SEO projects. This helped us maintain a level of transparency. There were sometimes issues with communication, but once we get over that hurdle, things have gone smoothly. They’re usually very fast with our clients’ day-to-day requirements and change requests.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The time difference is an issue for us but that’s the case with anyone you deal with internationally. They come on board at 3:00-4:00 in the afternoon for us and sometimes I have to work with them until 10:00-11:00 at night.

In addition, I don’t think they have a ticketing system in place. It’s more of personalized service. It’s not an issue for us because we have our own tracking system but it probably would be an issue for other companies.

Get your scope of requirements before you hand the work over to them. Make sure they understand what needs to be done.
