BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a content director at a trade association that represents firms that handle residential technology integration. That includes everything from dedicated home cinemas to media rooms, to lighting and security. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Halski Studio?

They’ve done several projects with us, working as a video marketing partner.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’ve worked on several video marketing campaigns with us. One involved working with some of our well-known members to drive new memberships and conversions. We also relied on them for internal marketing pieces, such as our Lifetime Achievement Award winner videos. Those were each three minutes long.

They handled our 30th-anniversary video for presentation at our annual trade association conference. Most recently, they handled a three-region awards program for us that involved three hour-long virtual awards shows to be aired in three global regions: Asia Pacific, EMEA, and the Americas.

In their work with us, they’re our video production team. They shoot and edit content and provide their own creative ideas. Some of our marketing campaigns have also required still photography and some graphics work from them.  

What is the team composition?

I worked with Mark (Creative Director, Photographer & Editor.) and Meg (Director). They’re a two-person team. 

How did you come to work with Halski Studio?

My former boss had worked with Mark while he was working for another agency. She continued that relationship with him over time. I’ve opted to continue working with them as well. 

How much have you invested with them?

In total, we’ve spent about $195,000 altogether. They were able to keep costs low for the awards shows, which cost us $26,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in December 2016, and our most recent project wrapped up in October 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Their work generated emotional responses from the annual awards banquet, generating everything from applause to tears. They really knocked the ball out of the park with their virtual awards shows as well. Members of our board of directors have been calling me to rave about it.

We were able to pull in some impressive sponsor dollars through those efforts, and our ROI is about 300%–400%. Several sponsors were further drawn into our association because of the quality, which will drive success moving forward. They really hit their stride with us.    

How did Halski Studio perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re superlative, always having strong plans going into shoots. Subjects are always impressed by their professionalism. Both our teams are detail-oriented and work well together. I’ve never encountered a problem with timelines or budgeting with them. I can’t recommend them enough.   

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their skills and talents are next-level. Mark is an incredible editor. He has an eye for continuity as well as framing subjects for impact. They really know the industry, and we have tons of positive feedback from our members to prove it. 

They’re always transparent about overages and strategies that will be most beneficial for us. For instance, they created a self-filming guide for people who would be receiving awards at our shows. That greatly improved the quality of their acceptance speeches. On top of that, they have tons of connections in the industry that helped us out on a number of occasions. They always have a secret weapon.  

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Talk to them constantly, from logistics with Meg through to post-production with Mark. Plan on them being a thorough team. If shoots are taking longer than you anticipated, don’t worry. You’ll get a product that’s out of this world, and they always deliver on time.
