BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

Our company is called AristaMD. We provide a platform where primary care doctors can reach out to specialists to get answers for helping their patients. Patients, especially from rural communities, will be able to receive specialty care directly through their doctors by having them reach out to one of our specialists.

I’m the VP of engineering, and I’ve helped build the entire platform from the software development side.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Foundation Recruiting and Consulting?

We were looking to fill a position for DevOps. A different company had been trying to help us with the recruitment for four months, but they were unsuccessful.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Foundation Recruiting and Consulting helped us recruiting a team member for the DevOps position. They got on the phone with us and really understood our needs. They understood the position well, which made me feel comfortable. They indicated that it would be tough to find someone in San Diego to fulfill the position for the amount of money we had budgeted. However, I was surprised when, within two weeks, we had four interviews lined up with people from San Diego that fit our budget — I was extremely happy and satisfied with that.

We ended up making an offer to one of them. The person accepted the offer after going back and forth with it a little bit.

What is the team composition?

We only worked with Matthew (Principal Executive Recruiter, President & Founder).

How did you come to work with Foundation Recruiting and Consulting?

A friend of mine mentioned that they’d worked with Matthew in the past. I gave FoundRec a call, gave them the opportunity to fill the position, and they did.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent around $15,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

I reached out to FoundRec in November 2020,. By December 2020, they had found four candidates. By the end of December, we put out an offer, and it was accepted in January 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

FoundRec was really specialized in technical recruitment — that’s what we needed. They were able to find the right candidate, and this person has been a fantastic addition to the team for the last three months.

The first company was a more general HR recruiting company. When I talked to Matthew, he told me that they specialized in finding software developers — he knew the market so much better. They knew what questions to ask and what to look for on LinkedIn.

How did Foundation Recruiting and Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated via email. Matthew sent me candidates over and I looked at the resumes. Then, I had our executive administrator schedule interviews with the candidates.

What did you find most impressive about them?

FoundRec’s capacity to match candidates to the position was impressive. With the previous company, we interviewed around 16 different candidates, and a lot of them didn’t match with what we were looking for.

FoundRec took a much more detailed approach to the recruitment process and dug deeper into what we were looking for. They did a lot more screening before getting back to us, which saved us a lot of time. FoundRec's greatest asset was their ability to screen and know the skillsets of the developers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing FoundRec could improve on — working with them was a great experience.
