What we found most impressive about this company was their ability to truly understand and capture who we are. They didn’t just produce a video — they took the time to learn our culture, our team dynamic, and the importance of the electrical manufacturers we represent. 

Their storytelling approach was especially unique. They were able to translate everyday moments in our office into a compelling narrative that reflects our values, professionalism, and relationships. The way they balanced showcasing our company culture while also highlighting our manufacturer partnerships was seamless and strategic.

We were also impressed by their professionalism and efficiency. The team combined creativity with structure — bringing strong ideas to the table while maintaining organized timelines and clear communication.

What challenge were you trying to address with Focus Media Video Production?
We designed and produced a film screening after-party with a prominent entertainment company in San Diego, CA during Comic-Con. The screening was of a new horror film that premiered earlier that evening. Part of the event was producing a promotional video for the movie. 
At the after-party, VIP attendees were escorted through a separate entrance of the venue, where they were welcomed into what appeared to be a replica of one of the sets from the movie. 
Here they were told that a social photo booth would take their picture as they posed with one of the iconic props from the film. Little did they know that one of the horror figures from the film would jump out and scare them just as the photo was being taken. The promotional video captured attendees’ reactions while onlookers from the party peered into the set via a two-way mirror, unbeknownst to the participant in the room.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?
Focus Media positioned three hidden cameras inside the booth, which they monitored throughout the event. They also handled post-production and sound editing of the final promo video.

We worked with 3–4 crew members on-site from Focus Media, including Mykhailo (Founder).

Our team found Focus Media through a Google search, given that we didn’t have a tried-and-true partner in the San Diego area. After perusing the agency’s website, reading through countless reviews and paging through past work, we decided to contact them. Mykhailo was super responsive, easy to get on the phone, quick with estimates/solutions and always happy to join client calls to fill in any blanks where necessary. Choosing Focus Media was an easy decision.

Focus Media is by far the best video production company we’ve worked with, and I’ve been in this business for 15+ years. The quality of work was impeccable, efficient, and economical. They were the masters of their craft and truly made our job easy - 100% a perfect fit for this job. The team went above and beyond, and the final product was exactly what the client was looking for.
How did Focus Media Video Production perform from a project management standpoint?
Mykhailo answered all of our team’s questions and was super helpful and competent during the engagement. He bent over backwards to ensure everything went smoothly throughout the process. He even showed up the day prior to the event to ensure our client was happy with the cameras’ positioning. Moreover, he was on-site during the event, which started at 11:00 PM and didn’t end until 4:00 AM. Overall, he went above and beyond.
Focus Media turned the final product around in a day or two and did a beautiful job of handling client feedback. Communication was always clear, and their pricing was transparent. We didn’t get hit with any additional unexpected costs. For tools, we communicated with the team through Google Meet, phone calls, and emails.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Focus Media is extremely client-focused. They want the product to be exactly what you want and will go through whatever means are necessary to ensure that the client is satisfied and that the project is a success. They also aren’t afraid to offer their expertise if it means that it will make the final video better. Mykhailo is a perfectionist in the best way possible. Super sharp but also warm and friendly.

Take the time to clearly set the project up from the get-go, giving Mike and his team the overall vision, goals, and objectives. View the relationship as a partnership, leaning on their team to help problem solve when necessary. They’re great at it.

What challenge were you trying to address with Focus Media Video Production?

We collaborated with Focus Media to create our new corporate video.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Focus Media helped us produce a new corporate video. Their work included scriptwriting, talent casting, filming, and postproduction.

This project was divided into three stages. Initially, we worked on the storyboarding, for which Focus Media provided us with the initial draft, concept, and creative input. We then had a lot of discussions about how this project should go and how we should tell the story.

After that, we went into the casting stage, during which we selected the actors and the filming locations. We ultimately chose to film the video in San Diego, California, for which Focus Media brought their own equipment. Once the shooting was finished, we entered the editing stage until Focus Media delivered the final three-minute video.

What is the team composition?

Our main points of contact were Mykhailo (Founder) and his partner, Ricardo. I know that there were some other teammates involved, but I don’t know exactly how many team members were involved in this project.

I found them on Clutch. Originally, I was looking for a company with good reviews, and I thought Focus Media had them. Additionally, I was looking for a company that had a good portfolio with commercial videos, and Focus Media fit this requirement. Lastly, I really liked Focus Media’s proposal for this video production project, so I chose to collaborate with them.

We worked together from May–September 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Various factors contributed to the success of this project. Firstly, Focus Media delivered the video on time, which we really appreciated. Secondly, we were pleased with the quality of their work. Although we originally liked the approach they proposed, we weren’t sure about the results.

Still, from casting to shooting on location, Focus Media was very devoted to this project, and the final product’s quality was even higher than we expected. Therefore, we were very satisfied with the results.

As for the impact of the video itself, we posted this video on our own social media channels, where we could see how many people viewed it and for how long. Overall, we saw a very positive response. We also received great comments from people who really liked the story because it was very touching and unique.

How did Focus Media Video Production perform from a project management standpoint?

As mentioned above, Focus Media delivered on time. Overall, they did a great job. We communicated via email and online meetings.

Focus Media produced six explainer videos and took many professional photos for our company as marketing collaterals. They created the content and were in charge of the whole production. Still, it was a collaborative effort. For every video, I first told them what I needed, and they provided me with different options.

The videos produced by Focus Media explain what we do. To create them, we had people on set breaking things in a house. Then, we explained how to fix those things.

I am a singer/songwriter who has been performing and writing for 15 years.  I play guitar, piano, and sing.

My goal was to make a music video for one of my original songs called Trouble.  I have been trying to promote my work for some time now and creating a music video / story surrounding a song is a great way to engage an audience.

I selected Focus Media after looking around my area at various companies.  I had checked out the work and reels on their website and reached out to see if we could do a project together.  Mike at focus is such a creative and passionate person to work with.

I worked with Mike on a previous video and he came up with a great idea and storyboard for the song.  We started this project in a very similar fashion.  Mike chose some amazing locations within my budget that really took the video to the next level.  Both projects were shot over a 2 day timeframe.  Mike was great about sharing content as he worked through the process of editing.  The turnaround time for overall editing and coloring was also very quick.

I worked with Mike on the project and provided feedback soon after he sent me the first cut.  Mike was quick to make changes and take care of any concerns.

To go from having a song idea to recording it, then creating a music video around it is truly an amazing feeling.  Watching the end result of all the hard work from everyone on the team is so rewarding.

We were looking for a social media advertisement project to generate leads and increase the awareness about our business.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Research was conducted primarily online a bit through word of mouth. I was looking for quality work but not ready to hire a large and expensive vendor. Personal touch and ability to work with the owner directly was a big requirement for me being a small business owner myself. I loved the their extensive portfolio, price range, efficiency, customer service, and delivery speed.

Started with a couple zoom calls with Mykhailo, to develop the idea. After hearing about my ideas he had great input that made the process a lot easier. Then we developed the shot list, and moved on to preproduction. I was not as involved in production or post production, but was very satisfied with the outcome.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

I worked directly with creative director Mykhailo D. He made the process fairly easy. To my surprise he was very prepared for our first meeting by getting himself familiar with my industry and processes. This made it very easy to communicate what my vision was for the project. My feedback was always received without any pushback and adjustments were made per my request.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Unfortunately, I’m not very savvy person as far as social media goes, but I definitely seeing an influx of business rolling in from IG, FB and other channels. We have been able to establish trust from producing good quality work so I’ve been thankful for the consistent boost in clients.

Mykhailo and his team are using a very friendly and layback communication style, but at the same time when it comes to work they are as professional as it gets. Timely responses even when I had to contact him during late hours. He always communicated any changes or delays that may occur ahead of the time.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Communication and passion that these guys have for their craft. It seems that they are trying to provide a top level experience and product while still being a small business. I do that myself with my clients, so it was nice to see another company with the same mindset.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

This was my first project like this and my only experience with the company. In my opinion, they have done very well and exceeded my expectations.
