We needed help with financial analysis and reporting, scenario planning, and forecasting.

What was the scope of work performed?

Finsights Group provides ongoing financial analysis and support for CNEXT, acting as the controller for the business. Waseem (Principal) provides oversight for accounting resources, works with team members to develop budgets and forecasts for the year, and develops financial models as input to strategic plans. The team also provides monthly financial data for investor reporting and financial data as inputs for scenario planning purposes.

We work with one teammate from Finsights Group.

We found Finsights Group through a referral. We chose them because of their experience, flexibility, and value for the price.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in August 2023, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Finsights Group has been an outstanding partner. The team has completed the work requested and streamlined and optimized financial reporting for investors. Our investor package had worksheets that were infrequently used by CNEXT or the investors. Since our primary focus has been on cash budget and management, Waseem recommended edits to the package that we present each month, saving us accounting time and costs. Overall, our financial management process has improved.

Finsights Group’s project management is excellent. The team delivers on time and responds well to our needs. We communicate via email and Zoom.

·         Building and maintaining a detailed monthly financial model, including three-statement actuals, forecasts, unit economics, and multiple growth scenarios

·         Leading budgeting and variance analysis and helping align spend with strategic goals

·         Educating me and the broader team on forecasted cash flow, runway scenarios, and key metrics like CAC, LTV, margin, and payback

·         Developing investor-facing materials including decks, cap tables, and investor models

·         Supporting pricing strategy for enterprise and education segments

·         Acting as a sounding board for key decisions around fundraising, hiring, and product investments

·         Coordinating with external bookkeepers and providing light accounting oversight

·         Handling ad-hoc analysis and finance-related asks quickly and reliably

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

With Waseem’s support, we now have a well-built and dynamic financial model that reflects our evolving B2B strategy and gives us visibility into different growth and cash scenarios. I’m more confident presenting our financials to investors and making strategic decisions because I have a clear picture of our financial position and metrics. We also now have a clean and compelling investor narrative, supported by robust materials that reflect our actual traction and roadmap.

What impressed me most was Waseem’s ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution. He didn’t just build models—he understood our business deeply, challenged assumptions thoughtfully, and translated complexity into clarity for the entire team. His ability to zoom out and frame high-level financial strategy, while also being detail-oriented and responsive on day-to-day deliverables, made him an invaluable partner. It’s rare to find someone who can do both so well.
