I’m a communications specialist for a company that sells shoes worldwide.

What challenge were you trying to address with Filma Global Video Production?

We needed help with video production to showcase our VPs — we have 10 around the world, including one in East Asia.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Filma made a video for an internal event that we do twice a year, working with our East Asia office. We gave them a brief of what we wanted them to shoot and how. We also provided all the content to our VP, who talked during the video.

The Filma team provided advice, and we managed the budget together. After that, they checked with our office to ensure everything was fine regarding security issues and COVID-19 restrictions. Based on this information, the team also provided us with ideas for production. 

I also asked Filma to produce behind-the-scenes footage from the day they filmed. They provided all of the equipment, including cameras, lighting, and mics. The team edited the material into a 10-minute video and added the subtitles we provided. Currently, they’re working on another video for us.

I communicated with four people, including a camera operator and a producer. 

How did you come to work with Filma Global Video Production?

I researched and contacted different providers offshore, looking at their projects, and Filma looked the most interesting.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve spent about $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Filma’s deliverables are really good. We use the video they produced for internal events and onboarding new employees, and the feedback has been positive — everybody loves it. Our CEOs have really liked it, too, and the VP who appeared in the video said she felt comfortable during filming.

Filma worked with our East Asian office and did nine other videos for our other VPs. Our local video producer was really impressed with the quality of Filma’s videos; we couldn’t tell the difference between Filma’s work and theirs.

Overall, they’re really good, and they’ve exceeded expectations. It can be challenging to find a good production company when you’re so far away, so now that we’ve found Filma, we plan to use them as much as possible.

How did Filma Global Video Production perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve done really well with project management. We communicate through emails, WhatsApp, and calls when we have the chance; we have a significant time difference, so we can’t call them as much as we’d like. Our product manager is always available via WhatsApp to answer any questions, though.

Right now, we have some delays in production because we’re waiting for information on our end. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m impressed by how Filma respects our brief. It can be a bit difficult to manage a video project when you’re not on-site, and Filma sticks to the shots we ask for and tries to do as much as we ask them to do.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could try to find an online alternative to Google Drive. Our offshore office doesn’t have access to Google, so it’s been difficult for our colleagues to choose visuals and shots.

Like with any project, be clear with what you want and make sure Filma understands it.
