The tasks included: 

• Installing and configuring django-redis, a Python package that integrates Redis with Django.
• Implementing caching logic in the Django models, views, and templates to store and retrieve data from Redis. 
• Measuring and testing the performance improvement and the cache hit ratio using tools such as Django Debug Toolbar and Redis CLI. 
• Optimising the cache settings, such as expiration time, eviction policy, and memory usage, to suit the application’s needs and avoid cache pollution or stale data. 
• Documenting the caching strategy, the code changes, and the performance results. 

The outcomes were: 

• A faster and more responsive web application that can handle more concurrent requests and reduce the load on the database. 
• A reduced cost of hosting and maintenance by saving bandwidth and CPU resources. 
• A better UX and satisfaction by delivering data more quickly and reliably.

• The reduction of database load and bandwidth usage by using Redis as a caching layer. 
• The improvement of web application performance and responsiveness by serving data from Redis instead of the database.

• The optimization of data storage and retrieval by using custom serialization in Redis. 

These outcomes were quantified by using tools such as Django Debug Toolbar and Redis CLI to measure and test the performance improvement and the cache hit ratio. Additionally, user feedback and analytics were used to evaluate the impact of caching on user behavior and retention.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I will never use another development team. They put heart and creative components into their projects that I have yet to experience working with other development teams. Their design team and developers communicate well internally to make sure the project aligns and runs smoothly.

The project stayed within timeline expectations, and takes very little maintenance due to the way it was built. We were sent updates and continuously throughout each development phase. Our platform launched successfully, and we have worked with the team to evolve the product and efficiency of the system.

They were extremely responsive and timely. The questionnaires for deliverables are always simplified and easy to understand. There is often times a fairly large gap between the technical language that developers use and what is comprehended by the executive team. The whole team did a great job understanding the vision and explaining what was required in a way that was easy for everyone involved in the decision making to understand.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their creative ability to think outside the box in order to achieve desired result.There were a few instances that could have cost 3x the amount. They're respectful and realistic about what can be done, but they have creative paths to the finish line.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Elyon Technologies could have done differently?

I don't know if it is my other experiences working with development teams or if I just really connected with this team, but I am having a very hard time trying to think of anything I would change about my experience working with them. I am in the process of working on my second project with the team. They are great.

Elyon built and maintained a Django application that interfaced with multiple external APIs and acted as "glue" between our internal MongoDB, Postgres, Redis, and other data stores.

Every project we implemented saw fantastic metric increases. Traffic increases, conversion increases, etc. The implementation was well thought out by Elyon and architecture was robust when moving to production.

Having spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on developers, I found that Elyon Technologies spent time caring about the actual deliverable rather than jumping into projects without a strategy. We spent time on planning as well as thinking through alternatives.
