**The Review** — Nov 14, 2025

**Feedback Summary**: Cheesecake Labs delivered an effective solution that met the client's expectations. The team was proactive and quick in finding fixes for the bugs that arose. Moreover, they were fast and efficient in their work. The client was pleased with the overall experience.
""Overall, we were very pleased with the experience.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.I’m the founder and CEO of Clip Collective, a startup in the wedding industry. We take video content from guests at weddings and create vertically oriented highlight reels for the couple, aimed to be posted on TikTok, Instagram, and other Gen Z-friendly platforms.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?We needed support in developing our web app.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?Cheesecake Labs developed a progressive web app and a backend admin portal through Retool. The team provided us with a comprehensive tech stack recommendation, including native and Swift solutions. We began with a discovery phase, and then we moved quickly into development, as per our request, because we wanted to launch in November 2025.What is the team composition? We worked with 7–8 teammates from Cheesecake Labs, including Stewart, Ohana, and Amanda. How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?We found them through ChatGPT, which did a deep research project for me and recommended Cheesecake Labs based on our needs. I submitted a contact form on their website, and they promptly responded. Stewart was our initial business contact, and he scheduled a meeting with us to get to know the project and set our expectations if we were to engage in a partnership. We had a call with Cheesecake Labs and were immediately impressed by their relatability in a business sense and how comfortable they made us feel engaging in a project of this scale and magnitude with them. After that meeting, we chatted with two other developers, and Cheesecake Labs was far and away the best one we had interviewed with. How much have you invested with them?We spent around $175,000.What is the status of this engagement? The engagement lasted from April–November 2025.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? We were very happy with the software and stacks that Cheesecake Labs recommended to us. I had no development knowledge, so I’d say we saved a lot of time because I would have had to learn how to code or hire developers onto the team and get them aligned with the process. Speed was a huge thing for us, and I couldn’t quantify the actual gains we had there. With any development project, we encountered a couple of major bugs with the system. However, Cheesecake Labs was very proactive and quick about finding fixes to those issues. Overall, they built an incredible product for us, and we were just finalizing all the bugs. How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?Cheesecake Labs delivered on time and on budget. They were very clear with us going into development that there was a margin of error. They initially quoted us $150,000 for the actual development, and we ultimately spent around $160,000. We went $10,000 over budget, but they had set our expectations upfront that this might happen. We used Google Meet and Slack for communication. We had weekly syncs through Google Meet and daily communication through Slack. We also used Figma for mockups and wireframes. What did you find most impressive about them? One of Cheesecake Labs’ main strengths was their speed. Everything they did was fast and effective. Another strength was that even without me being hands-on on the backend, they were able to build everything while I was focused on everything else within the company. Are there any areas they could improve? No, there weren’t any. Overall, we were very pleased with the experience.Do you have any advice for potential customers?Trust the process. Cheesecake Labs has an incredible flywheel of business leads and project leads, and it’s a really well-functioning organization. As long as you trust that they know what they’re doing, you’ll be very happy with the product.

**The Review** — Nov 4, 2025

**Feedback Summary**: The solution delivered by Cheesecake Labs was used by over 1,000 people during the client's two-day event, reaching over 10,000 NTF mints and thousands of payments processed. The team delivered on time and on budget, showing an impressive ability to face and overcome unknown challenges.
""Cheesecake Labs' ability to take on challenges that no one had faced before was impressive.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there. We're a nonprofit organization that advocates for the growth of a public blockchain protocol. Our mission is to enable equitable access to the global financial system. My role is director of product, where I lead enterprise payments.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?We needed help with custom blockchain software development.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?Cheesecake Labs helped us build a custom smart wallet for our flagship annual event. This product was web-based, and it was the first smart wallet implementation of its kind. It was built to be open-sourced from the beginning, so that all developers in the ecosystem could take the code developed by Cheesecake Labs and our team and use it for their own projects. The features included payments, NFTs, and custom tokens. Cheesecake Labs' work also included front- and backend development.Initially, we had a kick-off call, where we shared our set of requirements, and Cheesecake Labs put together a project plan. The team also assigned resources for each part of the project. After the solution was built, we did in-person testing; it was a joint engineering effort. Before the event, we also had a week of on-site testing. The technology stack included Node.js, React, and TypeScript. What is the team composition? We worked with 5–10 core team members throughout the project. How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?We had previously worked with Cheesecake Labs for a long time, so we had an existing relationship. How much have you invested with them? We’ve spent around $50,000–$199,999.What is the status of this engagement? We worked together on this project from May–September 2025.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? When we launched this product during the event, it was used by over 1,000 people, making the project a complete success. We also had over 10,000 NFTs minted through this product, and thousands of payments were processed during the two days the event lasted. Overall, the quality of Cheesecake Labs' work exceeded our expectations. How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint? The team delivered on time and within budget. We met on a weekly basis and had live communication through Slack. We also used phone calls, Google Meet, and Figma to collaborate. What did you find most impressive about them?Cheesecake Labs' ability to take on challenges that no one had faced before was impressive. This was the first implementation of its kind, with many different features on this network. Still, they were able to put everything together into a unified product. Some engineering teams would be scared away by that or take a cautious approach. However, Cheesecake Labs took on the challenge and was very excited about it.Whenever they found obstacles, they also found ways around them. The team was creative and reached out to experts to find solutions when needed. Ultimately, they found ways to solve problems no one has solved before. Are there any areas they could improve? We had some team churn, some of which was outside Cheesecake Labs' control. Still, this issue impacted the timeline a little bit, as we had to do knowledge transfer between team members.Do you have any advice for potential customers?Lean into the relationship and give them as much information as you can. Cheesecake Labs is very good at interpreting ambiguous requirements, so have the conversation with them, and they'll help you figure things out.

**The Review** — Feb 11, 2025

**Feedback Summary**: Cheesecake Labs' work has improved the app's performance and increased the client's transaction volume. The team has been proactive and communicative via Slack and Google Workspace and has delivered documentation via Notion. Moreover, the client has been impressed with the team's speed and quality.
""They have a very can-do attitude, are proactive, and are very eager to help out.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.I'm the head of product at Vibrant, a subsidiary of the Stellar Development Foundation. We’re a digital wallet that helps people hold digital dollars. Most of our users are in Argentina and Brazil.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?We were looking for engineering talent to help us build our wallet.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?Cheesecake Labs has helped us build our mobile app. We have our own in-house design team, so they haven't been involved in the UI design. However, they’ve been responsible for the API development and technical architecture. We've mainly had help on our backend, which is written in Go. The team has also been familiar with Go, AWS, microservices and with the Stellar blockchain. We've also had a team member that has done React Native development for us, he's been building our iOS and Android apps in React Native. We've worked with them on several projects. One of them has been related to virtual US bank accounts. We wanted to offer a virtual US bank account in our app. The team has first built the backend and then the frontend. We've also worked with them on the Vibrant Campaign Manager. We wanted a way to easily configure and change in-app marketing based on the user's activity in the app and reward them for certain types of actions, like spending money on some specific item or adding funds to the app. We've had two team members on the backend building that out. Then the last, we've had someone who's part-time who does DevOps for our team because we were short on DevOps.What is the team composition? We've had a rotating cast of people. We currently work with two backend developers, a part-time DevOps engineer, and a frontend mobile engineer. How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?We were looking for a team in Brazil, and Cheesecake Labs was there. We decided to work with them because they had the talent we needed. How much have you invested with them? We've spent over $500,000.What is the status of this engagement? We started working with them in May 2022, and our relationship is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? They’ve been able to build the app quickly, and we’ve seen great results. They’ve been very quick and adept at taking on the challenges. We've been very impressed with their work. They’ve also been able to improve the app's performance. I've been underwhelmed with the app's loading time and responsiveness. However, once we brought on the Cheesecake Labs team, they have gone hands-deep into improving a lot of that for us. I don't have concrete metrics around app performance, but they’ve definitely made it a lot better. Moreover, they’ve been very instrumental in increasing our transaction volume. One of the projects they’ve launched has accounted for 30% of our total app volume for the quarter. Transaction volume is a very important metric for a financial app.How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint? The team is extremely proactive. They're very communicative about what they think they can take on in the sprints that we have. We run a regular agile process of allocating more tasks for the team every three weeks. They’re always very communicative and upfront about what they can do. If anything needs to slide, they're very direct and transparent with me. I've been extremely impressed with how they're able to move projects along. I don't need to be super involved with them; they’re very self-starters.We use Slack for communication, Google Meet for regular meetings, Google Calendar and Google Workspace, and Notion for documentation. The team has been very involved in adding technical documentation for us. We also use GitHub for monitoring errors and PagerDuty for on-call. They offer an additional on-call service, which has been helpful for us because we don't have that many backend engineers. Asana has also been involved, but we've recently moved to Linear. Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?I want to give a shout-out to Caio, Gabe, Alan, and other team members, they have all been absolutely fabulous. We've been so grateful for their help. They've done an amazing job. What did you find most impressive about them? The speed at which they crank out high-quality features is very impressive. They have very few bugs, and they’re extremely easy to work with. They have a very can-do attitude, are proactive, and are very eager to help out. We've been pleased with those aspects of them. Are there any areas they could improve? It would be awesome if they could get a staff that could also speak Spanish. However, that’s not a hard requirement on our side. They’ve always provided us with extremely high-quality people.Do you have any advice for potential customers?I highly recommend working with them because their team is awesome, and I’ve only had great experiences.

""Cheesecake Labs is great to work with.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.I'm the head of blockchain innovations at a financial services company. We're a global remittance company, and my team focuses on innovation and new product development.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?Initially, we hired Cheesecake Labs to do a proof of concept (POC) and eventually move forward with the mobile app development. Our product is unique because our users may not be familiar with cryptocurrency, so we needed an intuitive and simple product to remove the complexities of trying to understand cryptocurrencies. The four teammates have done a fantastic job keeping work on track and quickly pivoting when issues arise to ensure we have a good core product for the first launch. What did you find most impressive about them?Cheesecake Labs is great to work with. The team is very open, and when we’ve had challenges, they've worked through them with us. We feel like we're one team instead of working with a different company. Are there any areas they could improve? We've struggled with Cheesecake Labs' designer, so we've decided to bring the design in-house to help speed up the process. We have a clear vision of what we want, and it’s been easier and faster for us to do the product design ourselves.Do you have any advice for potential customers?I suggest having dedicated internal team members when working with Cheesecake Labs. The key internal team members have been our project manager, product manager, designer, and development lead, who helps with knowledge transfer about our systems. With those teammates plus whoever Cheesecake Labs has in leadership, the project has worked really well.

""I am impressed at the enthusiasm, genuine care for the customer, and strategic thinking of the team.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the VP of Product and Engineering for a Layer 1 blockchain. We develop open source products, platforms, and web3 applications. Our platform is focused on financial services use cases- mobile wallets, payments, digital assets, and cash disbursement platforms.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Cheesecake Labs, and what were your goals?

I hired Cheesecake Labs to augment for multiple engineering projects, both client and server side. Cheesecake both served as staff augmentation for existing projects, and in the case of our digital assets business, they were the sole engineering team handling a variety of prototypes, proof of concepts, and new software development- working in conjunction with some of the largest financial institutions in Brazil and Latin America.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Cheesecake was recommended to me by a colleague who had worked with them before. They demonstrated a high aptitude in working independently, being dynamic and flexible around staffing needs, and provided a good bench of engineers who had excellent communication, architectural and software development skills. They were able to spin up a blockchain vertical within their organization rapidly, and picked up core blockchain development practices around the Stellar network with ease. Also, their location in Brazil worked well with our timezones in PST and EST.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Stellar Aid Cheesecake provided an architect and principle engineer to help develop a cash out reconciliation and reporting feature in a piece of software we had customers run on-site. This feature included postgres schema development, financial transaction consistency modeling, and development in Go within a mature code base. The feature was delivered on-time, and was mission critical for our release.

Tier 1 Assets Cheesecake acted as the engineering vertical for a digital assets business in SDF. They worked closely with product managers and business development representatives to create new software products, digital asset securitization models, and asset issuance platforms. They also represented engineering in multiple CBDC challenges with major banks in Latin America.

They provided a full stack delivery model with a Stellar Architect, engineering, and product/project representatives Vibrant Engineering Vibrant is a mobile wallet developed in react native and GO.

We used CKL as staff augmentation to cover the GO backend, which was a piece of middleware that had an API layer and postgres database to store customer information, implement microservices like multisig, and integrated with our crypto payments protocols. Bridge UI CKL built a web3 front end for asset swaps using a bridging design that allowed for trustless, escrowed value exchange across different blockchains. This particular implementation interacted with an ETH smart contract into Stellar

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

There were 10-12 engineers. I primarily worked with the CEO and the Stellar achitect

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

CKL delivered projects on time, with a great deal of independence and creativity. They were able to look for reusable components in the services they built, and provide valuable architecture and software suggestions that helped with the overall technical strategy at SDF. The products they built were mission critical, and helped advance the business needs of the org.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We had weekly project management meetings, and projects always had a project manager assigned to review goals, dates, and status. Resourcing was well documented within spreadsheets, and it was clear how headcount was allocated, and what they were working on

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I am impressed at the enthusiasm, genuine care for the customer, and strategic thinking of the team. CKL is not your typical offshoring agency, in that they provide much value added services above and beyond delivering code. They were very helpful with providing insight, feedback, and a customer perspective on the products they were developing

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

None!

**The Review** — Jan 31, 2023

**Feedback Summary**: Cheesecake Labs streamlines the client’s work and delivers on the requirements. Thanks to their support, the client can scale their team more efficiently, achieving a good result in the transactions processed per FTE. They manage the project well using Jira and communicate effectively via Slack.
"“Cheesecake Labs operates very well within their abilities and ultimately delivers what we’re looking for.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the VP of operations at FINN, an auto subscription company. We subscribe vehicles to customers based in Munich, Germany and New York City.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We were looking to scale up our engineering team with a provider based in the same time zone as the US’s East Coast. The goal was to scale our US operations as quickly as possible.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Cheesecake Labs provides us with development services, mainly for our backend. They’ve helped us with internal tooling and database building. Most of the projects we’ve done with them have been built from scratch. The team uses TypeScript, though they’ve also used no-code tools like Integromat and Retool for a sizable portion of their work.

The team has built a compound integration that allows a compound partner to relay us data live. From there, we ingest that data and make business decisions. Cheesecake Labs has also built our customer care tooling, which allows our customer care team to make changes to orders and deliveries. The Cheesecake Labs team has also rolled out our internal customer portal, enabling customers to make changes to their payment method or delivery address without calling in.

What is the team composition?

My team has interacted with around 10 Cheesecake Labs teammates throughout the engagement. Currently, we’re working with five team members.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

My CTO found them; I believe they canvassed various potential partners before finding Cheesecake Labs.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $1.1 million.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in March 2022, and the engagement is ongoing. The project’s end date is in March 2023.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We wouldn't be able to operate as efficiently as we do without Cheesecake Labs. From a business perspective, one of our metrics is transactions processed per full-time equivalent (FTE), which refers to headcount per transaction. Thanks to Cheesecake Labs, we're scaling our team much more efficiently in the US than in our Germany office. Additionally, the customer care tooling they've built enables our customer care team to do their job more efficiently.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

I would give them a high score for project management. We use Slack and Jira for communication and project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Cheesecake Labs operates very well within their abilities and ultimately delivers what we're looking for.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There's variability in the quality of Cheesecake Labs' engineers, just like with any other company. Certain engineers have been better at English or specific coding languages. However, this has never been an inhibitor to getting work done.

The team members were highly experienced and skilled, and they stood out for their ability to come up with solutions. Also, they managed the project using Jira and communicated effectively through daily meetings and Slack.
"“We had a great experience.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m one of the co-founders of an NFT marketplace. We’re a ten-person team in New York City.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We needed additional support to develop the frontend of our web application.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Cheesecake Labs primarily focused on frontend development for our React, Next.js, and Typescript application. They worked on revamping the new pages to a real-time data flow. They took those things from end to end on the frontend side.

What is the team composition?

We worked with around five people. For the most part, we were in contact with a product owner, a tech lead, two engineers, and someone on QA.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

We found them online.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about $150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We brought them in for four months, from May–September 2022.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The completion was our success metric. We still have 1–2 more items left, but Cheesecake Labs has delivered their part.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

We met every morning at 11:00 a.m. and were connected on a Slack channel. Also, we used Jira for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their range of expertise and ability to come up with solutions for each problem were outstanding. When we were onboarding, they brought in a technical person to address how they’d come up with solutions and fully disclosed each team member's background. Also, the cost was reasonable considering the people they provide.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can’t think of anything. We had a great experience.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Communication is essential. You should understand where things are going and give them a heads-up so they can plan accordingly.

**The Review** — Aug 11, 2022

**Feedback Summary**: Internal stakeholders were satisfied with Cheesecake Labs’ services. They successfully delivered everything, respecting the budget and going the extra mile to help the client. The team listened to feedback and excelled in their communications. Overall, they were collaborative, outstanding partners.
"“They always seemed to accomplish more than we thought was possible.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the director of execution of a privately held mortgage company. We have a couple of main offices in Omaha, Nebraska; San Diego, California; and Lombard, Illinois.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We were looking to create a mortgage application that would get into home search and combine some pieces into one.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We engaged with Cheesecake Labs and laid out what we were looking to accomplish. They picked up our concepts quickly and gave us an extensive overview and presentation of their plan to ensure we’d meet our goals. We wanted to do some fine pieces that we hadn’t seen in the industry, and they created them.

One of those pieces was a rewards program. They took the idea and ran with it, helping us to look at other companies to find ideas we could incorporate into the app. Initially, we provided some basic questions to help them create our mortgage flow and what the app should look like. Additionally, we suggested applications we liked, although they weren’t mimicked. They did some research and looked at the apps we suggested to incorporate those references and create our own version.

They did a proof of concept of our point of sale with the system that we’d plug into the application; they only did the design. However, Cheesecake Labs tested all the APIs to ensure everything was working. They also integrated other ideas and did the wireframes from scratch.

What is the team composition?

Four people participated consistently in our weekly meetings. We also met the company’s president and had a client engagement manager, a project manager, a chief product officer, and a UX/UI designer. They were the team members we worked the closest with. Beyond that, a bigger team would sit in with us every once in a while.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

They were a referral, but we also did our due diligence. They designed and developed another home search for a company we’d worked with, and we liked their work. However, we looked around to see if they would fit us best.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $75,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in December 2021, and they completed the project in April 2022.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have the Figma files of everything they created for us. Moreover, they were willing to present to the larger organization in our place several times, which wasn’t part of our contract. They did it out of the goodness of their heart. Overall, they were fantastic to work with, and their communication was outstanding. They listened to our ideas and made them a reality.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

We paid what they quoted us initially. We had weekly meetings, sometimes even more than once a week if we wanted to get something done. In general, the team was on point and pushed the project along. They always seemed to accomplish more than we thought was possible. Moreover, it felt like a collaboration; they didn’t force any ideas on us.

They gave us access to their Slack account so we could see the daily progress. Also, we used Google Meetings and back-and-forth emails for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication skills, speed of development, and cost were incredible. They were a great company. Seeing them taking our ideas and making them a reality was amazing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only bummer was that we couldn’t use them for development due to some of our internal regulations. They were located in Brazil, and our company doesn’t allow us to work with vendors in that country. We would’ve loved the opportunity to build the application with them. It was on our company, not on them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Use Cheesecake Labs. They’re fantastic. On your part, you just have to make sure that you complete the tasks they ask you.

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the director of e-commerce at ACG Brands Inc., a consumer products company that creates a lot of different types of consumer products.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We’re creating a brand new product category: Bluetooth-enabled, smart heating devices. The goal was to develop a mobile application to connect and control those Bluetooth devices.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Cheesecake Labs is doing mobile app development for us. We started with a discovery phase and came up with the scope of work and service agreement. They then developed and launched our mobile app for iOS and Android using Bluetooth and Flutter technologies.

What is the team composition?

We've worked with a project manager, a tech lead, a product manager, a QA manager, and a designer.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

We found them on Clutch.

How much have you invested with them?

We've spent $360,000 with them so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The app works; we've tested it, and the feedback has all been positive. Also, they work rapidly to fix any bugs we find.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Our project manager has been phenomenal and very communicative. Throughout the project, we've had weekly meetings to ensure the project is successful and to keep everything on track and within budget. Regarding tools, we use Jira, email, and Microsoft Teams.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their biggest strength is their ability to be flexible; their team meets us where we were at and adapts to the tools we use. In addition, they're excellent at teaching us about certain things and best practices since we're new to app development.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They're doing a great job, and the only potential constructive feedback would be that the project manager was a bit disorganized initially. Nonetheless, they fixed that very quickly, got a new project manager, and turned it around.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be open to their suggestions and expertise; they're professional at app development.

**Feedback Summary**: Internal stakeholders were satisfied with Cheesecake Labs’ quality work. The team was incredibly prompt in their delivery, and they were willing to solve problems as they presented themselves. Overall, they stood out for their communication skills and ability to ramp up on a complicated project.
"“They were able to hit the ground running.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the head of product management for an aging wellness company in New York City. We have a studio location where we perform medical services, including cosmetic dermatology, hormone replacement, and more. We have a website that allows our customers to experience telehealth visits with clinical staff within the same category.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We had a specific project around an assessment for our customers.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Cheesecake Labs built a particular part of our website; it was an assessment that our customers will go through. They worked with us on frontend and backend development and project management. They used React for the frontend.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a product manager, two project managers, 3–4 frontend engineers, and two backend engineers.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

They came through a recommendation from our CEO.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $50,000–$100,000, maybe more.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from February–April 2022.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s not live yet; we’re still working on things that we have to do ourselves. However, from a success perspective, we had a parallel program to give feedback, and our developers were able to read their code. We had issues, but they weren’t more than usual, and Cheesecake Labs hoped to solve them as we reported them. Also, their team did QA to ensure that the fewest number of bugs possible made it to our team.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

It was a tight project with a quick ramp-up time, and Cheesecake Labs delivered what we needed on time. Also, they were very communicative with us about the project’s progress.

We used Jira and communicated via Google Meet and Slack. We had a shared Slack channel to raise issues and talk asynchronously.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication and ability to ramp up quickly on a complicated project were their strongest points. They were able to hit the ground running.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It was challenging to work across time zones, but it was the nature of the development process. Although we had an impact on speed and delays, it was nothing material.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Give detailed specifications of what you’re trying to accomplish so they can run with it.

**The Review** — Apr 19, 2022

**Feedback Summary**: The company is pleased with Cheesecake Labs’ ability to clear their development backlogs quickly. They also perform well during development sprints. The team manages the project well through Jira and has proven to be receptive to the client’s feedback. They’re top-notch experts in their field.
"“Their work ethic has been unmatched.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CTO of Volo and the American Dream TV. We’re a media and tech company in the real estate space.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We were building a video-infused real estate search mobile app. Our team developed the concept for the app for about two years. Then, we built our MVP in-house — a software engineer and I collaborated on it. We needed a vendor to help us bring our vision to life much faster, so we hired Cheesecake Labs.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Cheesecake Labs has taken our vision and assembled a team of six people to work directly with us. Other staff members also join at times, but the six-member team executes our backlog and delivers the product to the market. In terms of technology, we use the Flutter and Firebase tech stacks.

For core app features and functionality, the app serves as a video-infused real estate search platform. When looking at traditional real estate search platforms in the US, they mainly feature homes with photos and descriptions. Meanwhile, we believe that video not only enhances real estate searches; they’re also the best medium for selling and searching for homes.

As a result, the main feature of our app is integrating real estate data with our media technology. We’ve developed searchable index map and video upload features where real estate professionals can add videos to their local marketplace on the app. This platform is currently available on iOS and Android, but we intend to add a desktop element in the future.

What is the team composition?

We work with two frontend engineers, one backend engineer, a QA specialist, a tech lead, and a project manager.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

I found Cheesecake Labs through Google and hired them after interviewing multiple companies. They were one of the touted companies that had Flutter development as one of their core competencies.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested between $300,000–$320,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started in September 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Cheesecake Labs has managed to clear the backlogs we’ve given them before 2022 started. That’s the first milestone they hit. Currently, we work on a sprint schedule, and that’s how we monitor success. We develop the sprints and then prioritize backlogged items before scheduling our releases. Against this process, the team always hits our release deadlines.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management is good. In fact, we’ve had an issue with our project manager and communicated it to them. They’ve been receptive and responsive to the matter. Within three business days, we’ve acquired a new phenomenal project manager. From there, the project management throughout the engagement has been great.

In terms of tools, we use Jira to manage the project. Our teams also use Slack for daily communications. We do daily standups on Google Meet.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Cheesecake Labs’ talent is impressive. Their resources are all based in Brazil, and working with Brazilian developers has been a new experience for me. Their work ethic has been unmatched. On top of that, they’re highly educated and serve as experts in the field.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’s hard to scale down the team that Cheesecake Labs provides. We’re a small company, but we eight get 5–6 developers from them or we get none. Overall, the ability to easily scale up and down the team would be a good improvement in their services.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Voice your concerns. Cheesecake Labs’ leadership is highly involved if you engage them. They’re willing to step in if you have any issues, so be vocal to them — they’ll make things happen. Don’t let your concerns just reside on the project management level.

- Client size: 1,001-5,000 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview

**The Review** — Apr 8, 2022

**Feedback Summary**: The company is happy with Cheesecake Labs. The team has served as a valuable partner for the firm as they provide guidance around the development process. They’ve been effective in keeping the project under budget and on schedule. Their communication skills and proactiveness have been fantastic.
"“They consider what we don’t know and our challenges, and then they anticipate issues and find solutions for us.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Our company is Bemis Manufacturing Company, a family-owned and private company. We’ve recently celebrated our 100th year anniversary. Our brand has over 60% share in the toilet seat market — if customers go to Walmart or Target, they’ll most likely find a Bemis toilet seat. I lead all of our organic growth opportunities and manage our partnerships.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

I led an investment that resulted in the need for a smart device for toilet seats. We then engaged Cheesecake Labs to develop the app for that.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We weren’t familiar with IoT — it wasn’t our sweet spot — but we wanted to take our toilet seats to the next level. As a result, we asked Cheesecake Labs to design an app that allowed users to control their seats better using their smartphones. We initially introduced our company and told them what kind of help we needed.

At present, we’re still developing the app, which will be available on both iOS and Android app stores. The app lets users use various smart toilet features, such as finding information about how long they’ve been on the seat and how many times they’ve used their toilets.

What is the team composition?

We work with a project manager as our single point of contact.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

One member of our team had used Cheesecake Labs before, and that was how we found them. We then used Clutch to search for their reviews, along with other development companies. Then, we interviewed Cheesecake Labs, and they did a fantastic job. It was important for us to find a team that was patient enough to guide us through the development process. Our company eventually decided to engage them.

How much have you invested with them?

Our budget for this project is $220,000, and we’ve already spent around $180,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Cheesecake Labs in June 2021, and the project is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Cheesecake Labs has been a valuable partner to us. They’ve guided us through the journey, and the team has been proactive — this is truly important for a company like ours. As first-timers in the IoT world, we’re glad that they approach the project from our perspective. They consider what we don’t know and our challenges, and then they anticipate issues and find solutions for us.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Cheesecake Labs does a great job of keeping us under budget. Every week, we know where we are in terms of our budget. We’re absolutely glad to be working with them because of this. Moreover, their scheduling is truly impressive, and their resources are always on time — we’ve experienced no delays so far, which is great.

Their communication has also been fantastic. They keep us on task every week. Our teams have weekly calls, and it’s easy to communicate with the project manager. Overall, our communication is great. We mainly use Slack, but we also use Teams for conference calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Everything good that I’ve mentioned about them has been impressive. As a client, when we reach out to companies, we need to know who’s more responsive and organized — the Cheesecake Labs team has been extremely proactive and organized even from the beginning. In fact, before giving us a quote, they’ve already spent time understanding our product. Overall, their proactiveness and general communication skills set them apart from competitors.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there aren’t any. Everything is going well, and we’re quite satisfied with their work.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear about what you want, and communicate often. Work with their project manager — this is your go-to person, and this person is amazing.

- Client size: 1-10 Employees
- Review Type: Online Review

**The Review** — Mar 16, 2022

**Feedback Summary**: Cheesecake Labs successfully delivered the app on time and within specifications, despite a tight timeline. They were effective project managers on top of being expert app developers. Their flexible and nimble approach was impressive.
""We were more than satisfied with the outcome of their work.""

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the CTO of a fast growing US based startup.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Cheesecake Labs, and what were your goals?

Our project brief was to create a mobile application for users to shop from their phones. We had written a detailed project brief and produced a low-code prototype before contacting Cheesecake. Our mandate for the work was to take the project brief and prototype and deliver a fully functional working application for both iOS and Android within a tight timeframe.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We solicited multiple proposals from multiple agencies, and reviewed costs, timeframe and staffing to make sure that the deliverables would be hit. Then we conducted in depth screeners to asses agencies on multiple points, both technical, design, management and process.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

As we had done significant up front work in producing a detailed brief and low-code prototype we had a quick start. We had an initial short design phase that included creating new assets for screens that needed revisions. Then we moved directly to the app build, which was specced to 4 different phases.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Our main contact was a Project Manager, followed by a Tech Lead. The UX designer had a lot of contact initially and we had 2 meeting per week with the entire team.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Within the timeframe the team was successfully able to deliver against the 4 phases of the project, ultimately releasing the app.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We relied heavily on JIRA to track against timelines and the phased project delivery. Once in place this was run well, and we were able to track progress against our timeline.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Cheesecake were able to work with us and towards the end of the project we had to prioritize a key change in the user flow of the app. This was accomplished well and with oversight we were able to deliver the changes.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Given the tight timeframe we were happy with the work provided and the management of that work. It took a few weeks for the team to run smoothly and work with us and as the project progressed this became much better, so ideally we would have liked that from the start, but given how these engagements go and of the fast start that we asked for we were more than satisfied with the outcome of their work.

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of Lys Academy, a development and training company. We create and implement courses through WhatsApp for big companies here in Brazil. Last year, we trained more than 80,000 students for people who work outside their office. We also train door-to-door sales people as well as do courses for Uber drivers.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We had to officially integrate with WhatsApp. We needed to create all the software that communicates with Twilio, then Twilio communicates with WhatsApp.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Cheesecake Labs built the software for us from scratch. They created all the backend and connections with Twilio. Their team also developed a frontend where we have tutors and teachers who interact with our students. They developed a communication dashboard where our teachers can interact with the students. Their team developed both the front- and backend of our infrastructure as well.

Cheesecake Labs also created all the rules of the platform that configures our courses. We defined the standard, the number that we used for the project course. We created all the flows from each source when it starts and what day of the week we deliver the course. We also write all the courses that we deliver if it’s an image or a text. They did all of it.

What is the team composition?

There were almost five full-time individuals working on it and some part-time senior people who were involved also. There’s front- and backend developers, a UX designer, and a QA person who tests everything.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

They were recommended by a friend. We liked their practical approach and understanding of our project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our courses are working. In the beta version, we had some errors happening between 3–5% but this is reducing month by month as they correct the code and improve the servers.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

They utilize Kanban for project management. We mainly interact using Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Cheesecake Labs is very professional. They have a senior, skilled team. Their team is very transparent on billing. It’s a great combination.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I’m very happy working with them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have a clear scope of work in order to have a good estimation of costs and time.

**The Review** — Feb 13, 2021

**Feedback Summary**: The project was a success thanks to Cheesecake Labs' work. The team provided the assets needed to continue advancing the business. They established an efficient workflow through proactive communication. Customers can expect genuine interest from highly-talented designers.
""Cheesecake also replied promptly and always did what they said they were going to do."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

Baton is a startup transforming how apps are discovered and shared. I am non-technical founder who was looking for a trustworthy app development agency to help guide early growth of the company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Cheesecake Labs?

Baton hired Cheesecake Labs to conduct a technical validation of an app concept and lean product definition. This was the first project for Baton and Cheesecake Labs was selected after meetings with several other agencies. Cheesecake offered the best plan and proposal at the best price.

What were your goals for this project?

It was critical that the Baton app concept be technically validated in order to begin fundraising and advance other business discussions. Cheesecake took the time to understand the specific needs of Baton and quickly developed a customized plan for the project. Within days, a team was assigned to start work on a schedule.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select Cheesecake Labs?

I contacted several app development agencies and other individual app developers. After a fairly extended vetting process, Cheesecake Labs was not only the most professional and proactive, but also showed a genuine interest in the project and its success.

Describe the project in detail.

The project began with an introduction to the team and the presentation of a project roadmap that outlined the deliverables and schedule. I then walked the team through the Baton app concept, business strategies and technical requirements. From there, a dedicated Slack channel was created so that I could stay in contact with members of my team and questions could go back and forth.

Cheesecake also replied promptly and always did what they said they were going to do. At each subsequent stage, Cheesecake did not just deliver project assets but also took the time to explain the latest developments and their thinking.

What was the team composition?

Baton was assigned a project manager and two UX/UI designers. Additionally, when the project manager was out on vacation...Cheescake assigned the CTO of the company to the project to ensure that the project continued smoothly and uninterrupted.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project was a success and Cheesecake Labs provided the assets needs to continue advancing the business. Even at the project's conclusion, Cheesecake continued to offer advice, networking opportunities and other advice to help ensure progress continues.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was very efficient, effective and each project deliverable/milestone was well defined. Cheesecake was very proactive in scheduling calls, meeting deadlines and answering any questions I had.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their genuine interest in the Baton project and the effort to get to know our team. As a non-technical founder, they went above and beyond when it came to clarifying any areas of potential confusion or where there was not a full understanding of a technical component of the project.

They listened to feedback, but also did not hesitate to disagree or provide constructive criticism to further improve the project. Perhaps most importantly, they created a custom plan for Baton that proved a genuine interest in the project and not just the revenue it would bring. Thank you, Cheesecake Labs!

Are there any areas for improvement?

One area of improvement would be in the quality of written materials. Occasionally, there were some typos or awkward sentences.

Needed to upgrade our existing eCommerce app to support new features and functionalities

**SOLUTION**
How did you select Cheesecake Labs?

CKL was on our short-list for the initial development, but we went with another vendor who was able to provider a lower quote.

However, we had a very positive impression of the CKL team, and when the opportunity arose, we approached them to collaborate on the next phase of the project.

Describe the project in detail.

We had a few preliminary meetings to finalize the scope and ensure alignment. CKL provided a detailed statement of work that included a project schedule with clear milestones and deliverables.

Once the project kicked off, we had weekly meetings with the project team, and CKL provided frequent updates and responded promptly to all our inquiries

What was the team composition?

We had two developers (iOS, Android) assigned to the project. The team also had a dedicated project manage and a solution architect.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**

They are a fantastic team of developers that know their craft. Super professional and easy to work with. Really appreciated the flexibility and out of the box thinking that the team provided during the project.

The partners communicate over Slack, keeping productivity high.
""They went beyond our expectations for both their talent and resources."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

We’re a consulting company focused on financial planning for larger companies. I’m a managing partner, working on sales and marketing.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We currently support a leading software solution focused on financial planning and analytics. However, we felt there were gaps in the marketplace that we couldn’t address with our current software. We brought them onto the team to develop solutions to our gaps in functionality.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We asked them to build a solution from top to bottom. While our team has technical skills, we’re closely focused on the functional end of finance and accounting. They were responsible for developing the solution from the ground up, focusing on logins and client navigation. We brought them in to address the interface, and we had overlapping backend resources. Our goal was to build a beautiful interface for our modern application.  We just completed the first phase of the project with them.

What is the team composition?

At this point, we’ve worked with a team of 5–6. We’re looking at adding more resources for future tasks. The first phase was focused on the interface, so we worked with designers, a project manager, and an executive sponsor. In the future, we’ll add more backend developers and an architect.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

I found them on LinkedIn and recognized their region as being great for tech and development. As I did more research in their region, they continued to come up as one of the top shops. We reached out, and they put us in touch with a few references. They impressed us with the entire process, so we brought them on board.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $10,000 so far. We’re expecting our spending to pick up significantly moving forward.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working with them since October 2020.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

After showing our prototype to five executives, we received great feedback on where we are in the project so far. They’re supportive of the user interface and functionality we’ve incorporated so far.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

We had one formal call each week, but we were also able to collaborate pretty easily on Slack. That helped us stay productive and keep up communications.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were very impressed with their talent for building modern user interfaces. They went beyond our expectations for both their talent and resources. Their work looks as good as any other modern interface on the market today.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They went beyond our expectations for quality, cost, and resources.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Keep up a strong communication system. They have a pretty deep bench, so feel free to voice your thoughts about the team staffed for your work. I’m sure they’d accommodate your requests there.

**The Review** — Jul 1, 2020

**Feedback Summary**: A proficient team, Cheesecake Labs efficiently delivered a functional platform with complex technical elements. Their valuable recommendations and responsiveness showcase a unique commitment to the partnership. They follow effective processes that enable seamless and long-term collaboration.
""Their clear communication is one of their standout qualities."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder of Woovit, which is effectively a CRM system for publishers. Our product connects people who make videos about video games with the publishers that distribute codes to them. It’s a platform that algorithmically sorts someone who is qualified to get a code automatically or gives an option for the publishers to manually review the code request.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

I needed to develop my platform.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Cheesecake Labs developed the software soup to nuts. I provided light product management, product direction, and customer feedback loops, but they engineered the CRM system. Woovit relies a lot on APIs from places like YouTube, Twitch, Steam, and Mixer. They used a standard open source stack.

Most recently, their team became the project designers too. They work on graphic design for the platform.

What is the team composition?

Right now, we effectively have six people working on this project.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

I asked a startup CTO for a recommendation for an outsourced development agency. He suggested Cheesecake. I evaluated a large number of outsourced firms, but Cheesecake came with a strong recommendation, which they validated. Since then, I haven’t looked for other third-party providers.

How much have you invested with them?

I’ve invested over $500,000 in their services. We’ve had a substantial commitment over many years.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked on our first project together about seven years ago but this project started in 2016. Our collaboration’s ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The main impact of the engagement is that Woovit works. They’ve been able to execute on the vision, doing so in an overwhelmingly efficient and engaged manner.

The project wasn’t trivial. They had to weave together a lot of different code bases. To get the componentization of the codebase done properly is beyond what is often done. They’ve always handled ingesting a lot of data from different services well.

They also care. When a bug happens, they resolve it quickly. Their team takes pride in their work and feels like an internal team. They want to see the project succeed and often brainstorm insightful ideas. Many of their suggestions have been incorporated into the platform.

The product manager on the Cheesecake side saw me wearing a Woovit t-shirt. And then, she quite sincerely asked for Woovit t-shirts for her own team. It’s a small story, but it’s representative of their genuine care for the project.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Jira is our primary project management tool. If there’s a delay in the project, their team communicates it to us.

One of the biggest fears and failures with outsourced development is communication. Everyone on the Cheesecake team communicates well. We almost never have a misunderstanding when it comes to discussions of objectives.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their clear communication is one of their standout qualities. Their team brings the strongest engineering resources to bear.

I’ve seen Cheesecake grow from a small firm. They have good process discipline in a way that isn’t there to only churn out billable hours.

That’s been an improvement on the already excellent services that I’ve received from them over the years. Cheesecake’s an excellent option for anyone considering outsourced development.

Are there any areas they could improve?

For their services, it’s had to have an expectation beyond what they deliver. They’re not full-time engineers at a startup, so they aren’t working around the clock. That’s not a criticism because it’s a marathon, not a sprint. They’ve improved their process management over the years.

In terms of a comprehensive outsourced solution, they could bring on stronger design resources. But we’re happy with a recent UX/UI addition to the team.

We wanted to outsource the front- and backend development for one of our projects.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Cheesecake Labs developed the front- and backend of a web app. Their team built a backend service that feeds into our database and collects the data, which we gathered from the provider. They also developed the frontend.

What is the team composition?

I was in contact with the project manager and established a connection with their VP of engineering. I also communicated with the three developers involved in this project.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

We’re based in the same city as Cheesecake Labs and heard a lot about them. The combination of their location and quality of work made them a great option.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together between February–June 2020.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I’m satisfied with the quality of their work overall. Their team conducted a lot of user tests. We had coverage metrics of more than 80%, which they reached.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Every two weeks, we made plans together but also had biweekly meetings. Their team was transparent, informing us of any challenges. They were productive.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Cheesecake Labs was highly committed to the project. You can’t always find that level of dedication with an outsourced provider.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Overall, there were architectural features that could be improved.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Try to provide them with detailed specifications.

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the leader of Agriness Innovation Factory, an agriculture solutions company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

I wanted to grow my capacity. More specifically, I needed a tool to support technicians, one of whom often supports 40–50 farmers at once. Technicians help farmers organize, process, and address technical questions about health, nutrition, and more.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Cheesecake Labs developed a tool that helps technicians organize their work with the farmers. It’s a mobile app for iOS and Android. They’re using React Native for development.

What is the team composition?

There’s a project manager, a QA person, a designer, and three developers.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

Cheesecake Labs is a good company. They were recommended by other companies here. We chose them because of the good recommendations we received.

My company has spent $50,000–$199,999.

We started working together in July 2019, and the work is ongoing.

We are looking to launch the product in the next quarter.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a lot of concern for their customers and the end product.

Sometimes, we need to understand the risk associated with technology decisions before, not after. However, this is a small improvement.

**The Review** — Dec 12, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: The team at Cheesecake Labs met expectations, developing a user-friendly platform. Their personable approach complemented their communicative and professional management style. Customers can expect a seamless collaboration working with their team.
""Cheesecake Labs is different than other similar providers out there."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder and partner of an online helicopter booking platform. It is a global system that allows users to book a helicopter in three easy steps. Users click a few buttons to find where to fly from and to, then from there, they can choose days in advance of the flight and submit their request.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

I wanted to create a world-class design for the product. I needed Cheesecake Labs to develop an easy-to-use tool that is accessible globally.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

As far as my understanding goes, their team used Python to develop the app. In the beginning, we proposed creating a progressive app that could be used on different platforms. There were a couple of speed bumps along the way, so we decided to build the app for iOS, taking out all of the potential mistakes.

What is the team composition?

In total, we’ve worked with six people. There were one or two project managers, a UX/UI designer, two or three developers, and QA testers.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

I found Cheesecake Labs on Clutch, but researched online and made a shortlist of five to six large and mid-sized companies. In terms of design, their team takes a look at projects from a different angle. They also seemed to be a friendly team.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested between $150,000–$250,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement with Cheesecake Labs started in September 2018.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

My goal from the beginning was to have a nice-looking, reliable application that would be easy to use by different nationalities. Their team achieved that goal, and feedback from users has been extremely positive.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

I’m based in Switzerland, so collaborating with someone across the Atlantic Ocean isn’t easy when it comes to development. However, the team at Cheesecake Labs is impressively well-connected on different communication systems like Slack, Jira, and video conferences. There were no issues. I was miles away, but it felt like their friendly team was sitting in the same room.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Cheesecake Labs is different than other similar providers out there. Their CEO accepted our invitation to the summit, where we introduced the application. I appreciated how devoted he was by supporting our presentation.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I suggest that the assigned project manager be the main person dealing with different assets of the project. When multiple people are fussing over and getting involved in the project, it takes a lot of time. Without the bustling from team to team, there isn’t a loss of time.

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the founder and CTO of Meetor, a platform that compares prices and specifications for medical tools and equipment.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We are launching this platform to make it easier for brokers and hospital representatives to compare items. We needed a development partner to help create the platform.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Cheesecake Labs developed the entire platform using Java, Python, Django, and AngularJS. They determined the requirements regarding content, design, and development. They also helped us assess our market.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

I learned of Cheesecake Labs through a referral from a friend who had worked with them before. We held a Skype meeting and started working together after that.

**The Review** — Jul 12, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: The app has performed well in tests and users are pleased with its design. Cheesecake Labs excelled at responding to feedback and folding it into their plan. Rather than simply delivering on requirements, they focus on maximizing their all-around impact and contributing as much value as possible.
""Feedback was extremely well received and we always found a good solution together."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm one of the co-founders of Instituto NOW and NOW. Together these two organizations form an small international social business focusing on developing out-of-the-box methodologies for adult and non-formal education as well as tools to foster and measure 21st Century competencies.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Cheesecake Labs?

We've developed our own methodology to foster and measure 21st Century Competencies in any learning setting. Our challenge was that the assessment includes a lot of separated data and makes the job of the person assessing quite heavy. That's why we decided to look into a mobile integrated solution.

What were your goals for this project?

As said above, the solution aims at improving the experience of the coaches that accompany, support, and assess learners in their development of competencies. It's mainly about functionality, simplicity, and UX. With this tool at hand, we'll be able to scale our work much faster.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We considered two companies, both of which were recommended to us. We choose Cheesecake Lab because we felt they fully understood our needs and were able to proactively help us get from idea to implementation. As a company with no technical staff, we were looking for someone who was able to translate the processes into our understanding.

Describe the project in detail.

Cheesecake Lab has developed a mobile solution (MVP at this point) for us to test if it can actually improve the experience of coaches and support the learner's personalized journey.

What was the team composition?

We were in touch with four people: an initial contact person, a project lead (our go-to person), a UX designer, and front- and backend programmers. Roles were very clear too, which was tremendously helpful.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We're going to start testing in depth next month. However, our initial test shows that we are on the right track. We have received outstanding feedback on the look and feel and have not come across any flaws. Also, due to the agile workflow, we've been going through all details at each step.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The communication happened through Slack and weekly calls and was super effective. Feedback was extremely well received and we always found a good solution together.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I have already recommended the company to one of our partners since I really enjoyed their agile workflow and their open and positive communication. I think what most distinguishes Cheesecake Lab though is that they have clear values and strive for creating positive impact beyond just technical solutions.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Nothing I can think of.

They’ve improved in-house efficiency by making more precise estimates and holding teammates accountable. They have proven to be a trustworthy and skilled offshore partner.
""They never fail to find quality talent when we need to add a developer or adjust our development needs."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am a product manager for a SaaS platform owned by a higher education organization.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

Cheesecake Labs serves as our development team for our main product.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We rely on Cheesecake Labs to provide ongoing custom PHP development. The platform is designed to help users make decisions centering around innovation management. If a user is considering launching a project internally or acquiring a future technology, our platform can assist with those decisions.

What is the team composition?

We work with a team of 3–4 developers and a project manager. They work in collaboration with our lead engineer and scrum master.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

We used a U.S.-based developer for the first two years of product development, and they were talented but ultimately more expensive than we liked. Cheesecake Labs was already working with our organization on other projects, so we had developed a great relationship with them. As we looked to find a more cost-effective development team outside of the U.S., Cheesecake Labs seemed like the logical transition because they had already proven themselves to us.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $100,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement began in October 2018 and remains ongoing. They worked in tandem with my other developer for about four months. That arrangement allowed us to phase out the first team and allow Cheesecake Labs to build their knowledge of the product and take over as the lead developer. We made that switch for good at the end of January 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The product itself is just coming out of its beta phase and into the market. Cheesecake Labs is already proving to be a valuable partner. They’ve assumed the role of process owners as opposed to order-takers. In my experience, we can hire two types of developers: ones that intake an issue ticket and process that feature or bug, or others that take the time to understand the product or the user profile and try to become thought partners in the development. I would classify Cheesecake Labs in the latter category.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Cheesecake Labs is a collaborative partner in our daily Zoom stand-ups and the management of our Jira development board. They’ve helped to improve our efficiency as a development team by providing thoughtful estimates for our sprints and then delivering on those expectations.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They never fail to find quality talent when we need to add a developer or adjust our development needs. They have proven to be skilled recruiters and managers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their communication using English could use some improvement, but we recognized that as a possible hurdle when deciding to hire an offshore firm.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am a solutions architect at Cresol. We are a credit cooperative and we’re focused on providing credit to family farming.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire Cheesecake Labs?

We needed new UI/UX design for our mobile app.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted the new design to support a new experience for our customers. We also wanted to develop a hybrid app, because the previous version of our mobile banking app was responsible for internet banking inside the app.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We searched for local companies with strong UI/UX design capabilities for mobile. We visited and spoke with three companies before choosing Cheesecake Labs.

Describe the project in detail.

We started with a discovery meeting. After that, we traveled to our agencies to speak with customers and develop an understanding of the real necessities of UX. We then started creating the styles and new screens. All these screens were approved by my team. Each screen was created in a sprint cycle using agile methodology.

What was the team composition?

We worked with a project manager and two designers.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We’re preparing to release a beta version. All of our test users have been excited about the design and UX.

Are there any areas for improvement?

No, we’re very satisfied.

""Cheesecake Labs works similarly to our business."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder of Garatéa. We co-create solutions with local Brazilian governments to decrease their emergency response time. We connect a network of first responders through an app.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We are expanding to the south of Brazil and needed to integrate our systems. We hired Cheesecake Labs to implement and combine the two platforms.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

The websites were working, so we needed Cheesecake Labs to integrate the backend of both platforms. They also provided business consulting services when I visited their office in the south of Brazil. We discussed how the local municipality operates and how it should be integrated within the workflow.

What is the team composition?

We mainly worked with two developers. They may have had a bigger team working in their office, but I’m not sure.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

I think Cheesecake Labs is the best in the business in the south of Brazil. Garatéa tries to find partnerships with experienced companies because of our work with local governments. We needed a responsible team that provides an excellent service.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $1,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started work with Cheesecake Labs on the integration between November 2018–January 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Implementation is finished, but we are still working with Cheesecake Labs. Our contract with them runs until November 2019, in case we have any bug issues or want improvements and additional features.  We’ve launched in Southern Brazil, and everything is working well.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Our partnership with Cheesecake Labs is based on clear communication. Once a week, we checked in on the project through Slack. Their team sent weekly emails that provide status updates and reiterate plans and goals.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Cheesecake Labs has a similar mindset as our company. We focus on innovation and are a less hierarchical company. A lot of Brazilian companies have larger teams and different processes. Cheesecake Labs works similarly to our business.

Are there any areas they could improve?

So far, we’ve had no complaints about Cheesecake Labs.

**The Review** — Feb 28, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: The app meets the needs of customers around the world and the in-house team is impressed with the quality of the code. Cheesecake Labs went above and beyond to meet all needs, while their proactive approach and desire to find the best possible solutions made them a true partner.
"“They're always suggesting better ways to implement the architecture rather than just doing what they're told.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the head of mobile engineering at Tapcart.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We wanted to build an Android version of our application. We had fairly aggressive deadlines and not enough developers in-house, so we were looking to outsource a vendor.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We supplied all the designs, and they built an MVP version of our Android application. It's a B2B SaaS platform specifically for Shopify merchants who are shopping within an existing webpage via our online dashboard. Customers can use drag and drop components to style a layout of their app. They can also use different questions and products that are available in the store to fully customize the look and feel of the app.

What is the team composition?

We've mostly worked with a project manager, a developer, and a senior architect.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

I worked with Cheesecake Labs previously, and I had a great experience. When I needed help with this project, they were the first company that came to my mind.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in May 2018, and the relationship is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Providing an Android app to our Shopify merchants was the most requested feature from our customers, so we had a very aggressive timeline. Cheesecake Labs delivered a high-quality code on time and built an automation server for us. They continue to help us improve the features that need to be rolled out. We now have an app for both iOS and Android devices, which is a very good value proposition to us because we have a large user base around the world.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

We're very pleased with communication. One of their developers even flew here from Brazil and stayed with us for a week. We have a suite of tools that we use for project management, and Cheesecake Labs was open to using our tools. They always stay on top of things and push us to stay on track as well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They're very proactive and solutions-oriented. If they see something that can be improved in our iOS app, they'll let us know (even though they're not working on the iOS app directly). They're always suggesting better ways to implement the architecture rather than just doing what they're told. This is exactly what we're looking for in our partners, and we haven't seen that in many outsourced companies.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. They're very knowledgeable about both iOS and Android, so they can provide value on both ends. We have a very positive relationship.

For what projects/services did your company hire Cheesecake Labs?

We needed to develop management software for cloud-enabled devices.

What were your goals for this project?

We needed a scalable product with a responsive design that could securely transfer data between a management system and other devices.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We solicited community contracts.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

Cheesecake Labs developed an IoT communication architecture that utilizes an MQTT protocol to create a two-way messaging channel between a management system and our devices. All of their documentation is contained in a repository.

What was the team composition?

We worked with a project management resource, a frontend developer, a backend developer, and an interface designer.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

They delivered the final product, but we haven’t implemented it yet.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

They followed an agile methodology linked to a Kanban scheduling system. Because they used GitHub to develop and manage the interface, we were able to follow their daily code reviews. Every delivery met our deadline and requirements.

**The Review** — Oct 24, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: Thanks to the new technologies, the brand has moved into markets and currencies that were previously unavailable. Cheesecake Labs works well within agile methodology and has a broad view of strategic solutions. They go beyond the prompt to set best practices and are fully invested.
"“They’ve helped us scale globally and are a vital partner to our vision.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the e-commerce and digital marketing manager at Skyroam, a Wi-Fi hotspot manufacturer and service provider.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?
We have an ongoing relationship with them; they provide maintenance, improvement, and optimization of our website.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our website is coded in Python, with a Wagtail CMS, a Snipcart e-commerce platform, Shopify, and supporting apps. They frequently provide guidance for integrations with other apps and platforms, including ShipStation, HubSpot, and other tools that have pixels, such as Facebook and other social media. We recently increased the team size to help increase our position in the global market by becoming multilingual and adding other compatible currencies.
What is the team composition?
We currently have a team of four, including one project manager and three developers. Previously, we had a team of two developers, but recently scaled up their involvement to help with the globalization effort.
How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?
Our designer referred them to us. They seemed versatile and adept as full-stack developers. Every time we brought them a problem, they provided a well-reasoned, expert opinion and guidance to reach appropriate solutions.
How much have you invested with them?
Our monthly expenditure is between $25.000–$30,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
I started working with them in November 2017. They’re our only web development partner, and the relationship is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Their work has allowed us to fulfill long held ambitions to provide a multi-currency, multilingual experience and penetrate into markets we’ve not been able to sell in. Thanks to the new platforms we use, we have launched a German UX and have access to the US, Singapore, Australia, Hong Kong, the UK, and other European markets. They’ve helped us scale globally and are a vital partner to our vision.
How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?
We use agile methodology and frequently use Jira and Atlassian products. Their project management is second to none. They set realistic expectations and estimates, and they help us meet deadlines and the demands of our business needs. Whenever we need them, they make themselves available for brainstorming, technical issues, and any other tasks we want help with.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their key strength is their broader view of strategic solutions. Instead of simply getting the project done, they help find the best way to accomplish tasks and find alternatives to consider. They go the extra mile and are fully invested in our company. It’s great to consider them as part of our team and much more than a partner.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They are a wonderful company. My only hope is for them to bring in more team members. This is a company that deserves to grow and bring in more clients. They deliver top-notch service and guidance.

"“Cheesecake Labs helped us effectively communicate our message for the first time.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the communications coordinator for For Freedoms, a nonprofit that consists of a collective of artists, art institutions, and Americans who care about being more involved in the art community across the US and Puerto Rico.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We engaged Cheesecake Labs to help us build a digital platform for our users, allowing them to showcase profiles and events.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Cheesecake Labs designed and developed our website from scratch, using technologies that included Django, Python, Heroku, and HTML. They incorporated features that allow artists to create profiles and post events so that visitors could have access to information from the art community throughout the country.

What is the team composition?

We mainly work with two people on development and a project manager, but they've had up to eight staff working on our project at any given time depending on the stage.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

They were highly recommended to us by someone who had worked with them on a similar project. We were impressed by the sites they'd built in the past compared to any of the other vendors we'd considered, so we decided to give them a shot.

What is the status of this engagement?

We've been working with them since April 2018, and the majority of the production wrapped up in May or June. But the relationship is still ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Cheesecake Labs helped us effectively communicate our message for the first time. We've already had 300 events and 200 institution profiles uploaded, so the website has given us a platform for showcasing a lot of information. Users have provided a lot positive feedback regarding its overall design and user friendly features as well.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

It's been an easy experience thus far considering the complexity of our needs. We have weekly meetings to go over deadlines and milestones, and they manage project tasks through TeamGantt. They've been very communicative throughout the engagement. They're also supportive and set realistic deadlines, which they either meet or exceed.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They've created a beautiful website. Any time a bug or issue pops up, they're incredibly quick to fix them. We're very grateful for what they've been able to achieve.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. I don't have any complaints.

I’m a Design Manager for a platform that provides organizational culture and recruiting solutions.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We needed help to build a mobile app for the B2C market.

**SOLUTION**

They created a mobile app for Android and iOS. They used sketch design programs and prototyping programs like Envision. As for the development, they collaborated with us on ATI architecture, but they’re acting more as a consultant.

What is the team composition?

We worked with two designers, two developers, and the CEO.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

They were on the top of the Clutch results so we felt like we could trust them.

How much have you invested in them?

The design costed $14,187.

What is the status of this engagement?

worked with them from February until June 2018. We’ve finished the design section and are now co-developing the app.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve only delivered the app’s design, but they’ve been punctual with deadlines and gave us a very competitive price. In terms of impact, it’s too early to know since we haven’t launched the app yet. However, we’ve tested the app and shown our stakeholders it’s exceed our quality expectations.

How did Cheesecake labs perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re very happy working with them because they’re always very organized and formal. They’re very clear on communication issues. We used Slack to communicate and Google Hangouts and Zoom for meetings to discuss progress. They’ve met every deadline and I can tell that they’re a really organized agency that is clear an open with their communications.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The design quality is great. Sometimes, we assume that good talent is only abroad, but they’ve shown us Silicon Valley-level quality.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They always let us know when there’s going to be a schedule change. I have noticed that they have a lot of clients and that we’ve had to move around their workload. We didn’t have any issues with that because they were clear and would let us know in advance, but, in the future, they could consider balancing that load better.

**Feedback Summary**: Cheesecake Labs consists of talented developers with a surplus of experience in delivering innovative software. They effectively manage the project and keep everything progressing as scheduled. They’re communicative partners that work to produce the best product possible.
"“They’re professional and always on time.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the general director of Marangoni. We operate in the metalworking industry to offer solutions for electrical transformers and road safety. With the skills and flexibility to develop complex projects, our team of specialists are leaders of the global market.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

One of our departments had the idea to create a payment platform that utilized facial recognition technology. We contracted Cheesecake Labs to develop the platform’s software.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Our developers have the knowledge required to build facial recognition technology, but we needed a scalable platform that could support exponential growth. Cheesecake Labs helped us design a proof of concept (POC) and are currently developing the Python-based platform.

Users will interact with the final product through an Android app. Businesses will be able to take photos of customers when they make purchases. The charge will show up on the user’s mobile app as an approval request. The user accepts the charge and the payment is made. We plan on creating an iOS version in the future.

What is the team composition?

There are currently 5–6 developers from Cheesecake Labs working on the project. Some are developing the backend infrastructure while others are building the Android app. A project manager is our primary point of contact.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

They were recommended to me by a colleague who hired them to develop intricate medical software. He indicated that they did good work, so we hired them. We also liked that they’re an American company as we’re always looking to make new connections.

How much have you invested with them?

The total cost will likely reach $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We contracted them in April 2018 and the project is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Cheesecake Labs delivered our first POC for the project. They’ve kept to the development schedule and haven’t gone over budget. They’re professional and always on time. It’s been a smooth process and we’re excited to see the platform grow.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate via Slack and hold a weekly video conference with them. This approach has worked out great so far. Their project manager puts the team to work and keeps them focused on the task at hand.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Cheesecake Labs are proper partners and we expect to work with them in the future. They’re a great company all-around.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’re conservative regarding software development, whereas they’re pushing to release the initial version of the platform as soon as possible. I prefer a slower process that ensures we have time to get the details right. This is more of a difference of opinion than a negative.

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a co-founder of Inwage, a blockchain technical and marketing advisory service. Our initial customers are in the realm of initial coin offerings (ICO). I lead project management and other business details.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?
We needed help developing the non-blockchain components of a software solution.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our client wanted to perform an ICO, so we built a website, smart contracts, security reviews, and security use cases. Cheesecake Labs built the website and the designs that the rest of the project was based on. We integrated admin features, user sign-up processes such as multifactor authentication, and a payment processor. Cheesecake Labs helped build the KYC module structure and made the system privately, so we could customize it for future projects.
What is the team composition?
We work with the project manager and a developer. At one point, we had up to three developers.
How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?
We vetted a handful of an affiliated company’s dev customers based on their previous transaction histories. Cheesecake Labs was one of the top customers in the program, so we decided to work with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve spent about $100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We partnered in November 2017, and the work is ongoing. We recently finished the first ICO project and are working on customizable solutions for other customers.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?
They’re responsive and provide good project management. Deadlines sometimes get delayed due to unforeseen bugs, but that’s expected in any dev project.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They’re a friendly team that’s enjoyable to work with.

**The Review** — Dec 22, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: While the app is still in progress, Cheesecake Labs has been in control of the process and everything is on track to meet deadlines as planned. Despite the time zone differences, they are easy to communicate with. They do an excellent job of following through and delivering what they say they will.
"“[E]verything has been perfect.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the CEO at  Forca App. We’ve built a platform that can be accessed by two apps. One app for the consumer, which is someone looking to better their overall health and fitness; one for the trainer. We tie these two together from the innovative marketplace where trainers sell their plan and services.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

Victor’s knowledge from working with Uber on their two sided platform really gave us some insight on one of our biggest challenges: How do we handle the trainer client relationship in a manner that is user friendly for both parties.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed a mobile app for both iOS and Android.

What is the team dynamic?

We’ve had upwards of 8–10 people who worked on the project.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

We went to the Consumer Electronics Show last year to demonstrate our beta version. During the event we met the people from Cheesecake. At the time we were not satisfied with our current progress, so we discussed starting over with Cheesecake and ultimately scrapped the first app we had.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $250,000+

What is the status of this engagement?

We've been working with them since March 2017. We're looking to finish by February or March 2018.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Since we are still under development I cannot really give concrete examples of their impact. However, I will say, they went the extra mile during the design phase which led us to a funding round bigger and easier than expected.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

We primarily use Slack for communication and Trello for task management. During the design phase we used InVision for feedback. Using these tools has made the open scope project much easier to manage.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their communication and willingness to work with us. We are based out of Texas and Cheesecake out of the country, so going in, the time difference was a big concern for us. This has never been an issue. They are always available. Most important, if one of their estimate is off they make it right.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We are a small team and aren’t up-to-date on the latest and best solutions in development. It would be nice to have someone on the Cheesecake team suggest the best tools for us to take advantage of.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Make sure the project is fully understood from start. You can’t sit face-to-face with them, so changes during the design or development phase will be more difficult and costly.

**The Review** — Dec 14, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: A collaborative approach to coding and project management made Cheesecake Labs an ideal partner for companies with an in-house development team. They met all deadlines and delivered the final product ahead of schedule.
"“They were legitimately interested in the project, made a lot of suggestions, and were a valuable addition to our team.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO of a company called Fishbit. We focus on hardware and software solutions for smart aquariums. Our hardware measures water pH, salinity and temperature, and automates different systems like lights, heaters, and pumps, all based on the water data that’s collected. Our devices are all powered by native iOS and Android apps. We were based in San Francisco while working with Cheesecake Labs, and are now based in Chicago. We have three fulltime staff, but the number goes up and down depending on current needs.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We hired them to help us with our apps. We’re a small team, and needed to build an Android version from scratch.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Cheesecake Labs built our Android app and fulfilled some needs on the iOS side, which had only existed as a base version until that point. They’ve added significantly to it. We provided designs for the Android app, which they added to during the development process. We handled the backend internally, so most of their work focused on mobile development.

What is the team composition?

We had a fulltime iOS developer, a fulltime Android developer, and a part-time designer. Victor Oliveira [CEO, Cheesecake Labs] came in intermittently as well. There were also developers on their team performing code reviews, although we weren’t working directly with them. We have a team of developers, and were able to perform our own reviews as well.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

They were recommended by colleagues in the Chicago startup community. We interviewed a several different agencies, and based on the recommendations we got and the quality of Cheesecake Labs’ past work, we felt that they would be the best value for our money. The quality/cost ratio and speed of work were amazing.

How much have you invested with them?

Between $25,000 and $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked through a significant portion of 2015 into the beginning of 2016.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Having an app for Android was crucial to our business, and they created a great product. The work was done quickly, and the team hit all timelines and delivered the project earlier than expected. Agencies have an incentive not to do this and ask for more work, so we were happy to see Cheesecake Labs hit the numbers they quoted.

On top of this, they contributed to our iOS team very effectively. We’re a small group, so being able to bring them up to speed on our backend quickly and to have them understand things right away was extremely helpful. The quality of work was great, and they felt like a part of the team. It’s been a wonderful relationship, which we plan to continue as our business needs grow.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

We had weekly catch-up calls, and they were brought into our Slack channels for daily communication. We were able to review the work internally, but Cheesecake Labs also had their own developers reviewing the code, just to make sure things were going smoothly. It was nice to see their developers asking legitimate questions, which sometimes led to substantive changes. I’ve seen processes in which code reviews are more of a formality, but they seemed to take it very seriously.

In terms of deadlines, I was shocked to see them hit every one within the shorter end of the range. We had a 25% buffer on tasks, given that it’s typical for agencies to request more work, but they were right within range.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They became a part of our team right away, and as our needs grew, they had our backs and were able to could handle anything we threw at them. They were legitimately interested in the project, made a lot of suggestions, and were a valuable addition to our team. They changed the way that we think about our business. We no longer think of how many people we want to hire internally, but rather where can Cheesecake Labs come in and supplement our team. When we needed a couple of extra people, they could supply them. We’re a team of developers ourselves, and we’ve been happy with their work.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’re planning to continue working with them, and there’s very little we would change. Cheesecake Labs was given free reign with the code and we were comfortable with it, since we could watch over everything.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Everyone works their own way, and one of the things we liked about Cheesecake was that they could adapt to our own protocols. We had weekly meetings, and talked to them all the time via Slack. Victor has visited us in the U.S. at one point, and we’ve been appreciative about the overall collaboration.

**Feedback Summary**: Cheesecake Labs has talented developers that work with the latest technologies, are fluent in English, and communicate back and forth efficiently, providing input on designs. The app has five-star ratings in the App Store and is updated weekly. They’ll even fix their mistakes free of charge.
""Cheesecake Labs is really good. When they promise something, they deliver."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

We’re the co-founders and CEO/COO of OneAvenue.TV.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We originally were a very large website and had thousands of pieces of content that we created, which mainly were reviews of music artists. We had a lot of traffic, but we didn't have any way to know our fans and to steer them to a platform where they could see all their favorite artists’ social activity—videos, music, performance dates—in one place. We were struggling to figure out how to stay up to date with what these artists were doing.

We realized that fans had the same problem, having to cut across probably six or seven social networks to learn what a celebrity was doing. We thought it would be cool if we could put everything in one place and give our celebrities profiles for their fans to follow them.

Our business challenge was to get something like that built and grow the number of celebrities that work with us. We needed a platform to do it and that's what we hired Cheesecake Labs to do.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Cheesecake Labs uses a full stack: PostgreSQL as a database, Django as the CMS [content management system], CocoaPods as a framework, Python on the backend, and Docker as a container strategy. It's all hosted on Amazon Web Services. The frontend is React.js for our web version and Swift for our iOS version. For analytics, they use Kibana, and they got us ready for Google Analytics.

What is the team dynamic?

The number of people working with us has varied. We've been working with them for over a year, so it's been as high as five or six people involved at one point and as low as one part-time resource when we don't need as much development.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

We found them through a connection. At that time, we were looking for a development shop and vetted nine different vendors around the world. We had about 10 factors based on which we would make a decision, and created a big table and looked at all these factors to decide who to use. In the end, we evaluated companies from Ukraine, China, India, Pakistan, Italy, France, and Uruguay, and we ultimately decided on Cheesecake Labs in Brazil.

As we looked at various development shops, we noticed if they had built any cool consumer-facing apps that seemed successful. However, a lot of the companies we talked to hadn't done anything consumer-facing. Also, we liked Cheesecake because they’re nearshore—only four hours ahead—so we can have meetings with them whenever we want.

The quality of their developers was another reason for choosing them. They’re very current in the technologies that we cared about whereas some of the other firms weren't. They also have a great project manager instead of a sales manager between us and them.

Also, they're cooler and younger, so they fit the demographic we're going after and they use really modern tools. At one point, we also got to meet our product manager in person—he flew into San Francisco to see us.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent over $100,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in June 2016 and it's an ongoing collaboration. We have a very aggressive product roadmap; we talk to them and they implement stuff weekly.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We got discovered by SXSW [South by Southwest], which is one of the most innovative startups and were also featured in the San Francisco Chronicle and got discovered on Crunchbase as well. We have relationships with multiple celebrities and we've worked with some major music festivals.

When people look at the work, they're not just going to read our stuff, they look at the app too, and we've got almost all five-star reviews on the App Store.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

They use Slack and Trello with us and speak fluent English, so there isn't a lot of confusion. They run on an hourly basis with us, so it's important to have good communication. We share designs back and forth and they comment on them, allowing us to adjust stuff if they're giving us good ideas. They're pretty good with deadlines too, but it's software development after all.

What did you find most impressive about them?

If we run into delays, they own it and make it up to us. We were expecting to have the Spotify feature ready and they underestimated the time it would take. It was a week of extra work and they didn’t charge us for it.

If there's a problem, they make it right. We've built trust with them and as we don't have our own internal development shop, we're relying on these guys to deliver.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Communication can always be improved on. Some of these features that we're building are pretty sophisticated, and sometimes it seems like they're doing a piece of it for the first time. There aren't a lot of apps like ours, though.

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

I am the CEO of a tech startup developing a mobile app for the food-tech and health-tech spaces.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

We needed to develop our mobile platform.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

Cheesecake Labs is providing native-iOS development using Objective-C and Swift. There are three developers on our project.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

I've worked with Latin American developers over the last couple of years, and had good experiences with Brazilian companies. I found Cheesecake Labs through a Google search, and had a good conversation with their CEO.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The cost is confidential.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Cheesecake Labs in September 2016. The project is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

We have a 92% crash-free environment in our App Store product, with thousands of users on the public beta platform.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

We primarily use Trello for project management, and communicate through Slack. We don't have an Agile system in place because I prefer not to. Communication is excellent. We keep in constant touch with the development team for eight or even ten hours a day over Slack.

What distinguishes Cheesecake Labs from other providers?

The first key strength is that Cheesecake Labs has perfect English language proficiency. There is no gap in communication, which is unique for offshore development, in my opinion. Cheesecake Labs is a highly-intuitive group which comes to every single decision with multiple scenarios of how they would like to potentially solve them intuitively, and based off of best practices. Thirdly, the code is very clean, well-written and lean. There's rarely an issue with our ability to understand it and jump back in for adjustments. Lastly, Cheesecake Labs has a very high-quality code-review process before submitting work. To me, this is another sign of professional maturity.

Is there anything Cheesecake Labs could have improved or done differently?

I can't think of anything.

**The Review** — Feb 7, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: The firm provided quality software engineering support and acted as a strategic partner in helping to define the right user stories and priorities for global audiences and business goals. Furthermore, they were very easy to work with and gracefully collaborated with the rest of the engineering and business organization.
""They were a strategic partner in helping to define the right user stories and priorities for our audiences and business goals."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Singularity University's mission is to educate, inspire, and empower leaders to apply exponential technologies to address humanity's grand challenges. Based at the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California, we support a global community located in over 60 chapters worldwide.

I'm the VP of engineering and IT and the lead executive responsible for the technical digitization of Singularity University and its distribution and access throughout the world.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Cheesecake Labs?

To empower our over 60 international chapters to sign up for licenses, administer local programs and events, and engage their local communities, Singularity University needed to build an Internet-based platform to centralize, standardize, and manage it all. The platform needed to support a directory of chapters, chapter officials, chapter events, and the many university alumni around the world who might participate in them.

Cheesecake Labs has a mixture of skills which we can weave as necessary, including mobile development, server-side development, and UI design. The latter is an area in which Cheesecake Labs has generally been weaker, but they've been able to partner with design firms. We have another designer on contract, who has networked very well with Cheesecake Labs' team.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

With our guidance and input, Cheesecake Labs built the platform leveraging a web services/microservices architecture using Python, Django, PostgreSQL, and cloud-hosted services.

We found them through an internal reference, and we appreciated the team's collaborative spirit, technical acumen, and inquisitive business sense to ensure we'd build the best product/service possible with the resources and timeframe at hand.

Over the past year, we not only launched the service but continued to roll out new features and enhancements with Cheesecake Labs. Thus the project lifecycle iterated (in Kanban fashion) over strategy, design, development, support, and optimization.

How did you come to work with Cheesecake Labs?

Cheesecake Labs was selected by our VP of engineering before I started working with the company. One of our entrepreneurial accelerator labs knew of Cheesecake Labs and gave a reference. I was hired shortly after and also reviewed them. Cheesecake Labs had good references, so we brought them in. We had another vendor scheduled to take on a third project, but because we liked Cheesecake Labs' architectural models, we brought them in on that project as well.

How much have you invested with Cheesecake Labs?

The cost of Cheesecake Labs' work has been around $50,000 per month, coming down to around $40,000 more recently.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Cheesecake Labs in October 2015, and have established an ongoing relationship. The first project was launched in April 2016.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Since we have created a completely new project area, I don't have a basis for comparison, other than the fact that Cheesecake Labs doubled the number of chapters we could support through one of the solutions they built. We have gone from 25 to 60 clients, and have offered them self-service support for becoming a chapter, adding listings, and publishing events in the university community-calendars.

The efforts by Cheesecake Labs enabled us to scale the growth of our global program, doubling the number of international chapters supported. They enabled us to build a richer relationship with our program alumni and enhance the opportunities for our alumni to interconnect and collaborate around the world at far more events than our US-based headquarters could support.

Cheesecake Labs not only provided quality software engineering support, but they were a strategic partner in helping define the right user stories and priorities for our audiences and business goals. Furthermore, they were very easy to work with and gracefully collaborated with the rest of our engineering and business organization.

How did Cheesecake Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Cheesecake Labs has had a transparent project management process. We've used an Agile approach and made many iterative adjustments. There is only a few hours' difference between our teams, so we can work together through Slack and video conferences. We're also a heavy JIRA and Confluence user for project prioritization. This flexibility has allowed us to adjust and readjust our business priorities based on what we're seeing on the ground. We could take a more restrictive approach to the development, giving fully detailed specs and schedules, but we have a first-time project, so there's a need for immediate adjustments. We still have a roadmap, but the weekly adjustments allow us to be reactive to the audience, and not proceed blindly.

Cheesecake Labs' team flew to our location and worked for a couple of weeks on-site with us, assisting with the launch. We're hoping to do the same thing in 2017 after a budget approval. Cheesecake Labs complemented our virtual process, making sure that we're also staying in touch in person.

What did you find most impressive about Cheesecake Labs?

Whenever we had a meeting with Cheesecake Labs, everyone on the team had a smile on their face. They've made the day more pleasant, and are very responsive.

Are there any areas Cheesecake Labs could improve?

Cheesecake Labs could put more emphasis on formalized documentation and code reviews. This is also a reflection of our growing maturity, as we continue to add engineers. High-level design documents can be useful for people who join the project at a later date.

The area in which we're developing now has complexities which will require more unit tests. It remains to be seen how Cheesecake Labs will perform. We have a formal quality assurance engineer who was introduced in the past month. We will start to cross-reference our JIRA user stories with the documentation, making test cases easier to trace. This is just a part of the natural maturity we see as we evolve the product scene.

## Portfolio & Awards

### AI Workflow Platform for Regulated Industries
Cheesecake Labs partnered with Knapsack to architect and build an AI-powered productivity platform that enables enterprise teams to automate complex workflows while maintaining strict data privacy and regulatory compliance.
The challenge: Knapsack began as a private AI notetaking tool for financial advisors needing meeting transcription and workflow automation in regulated environments (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR). As the product gained traction, the founders needed to re-architect from a fully local AI model to a scalable hybrid architecture without compromising the privacy-first design.
Cheesecake Labs embedded senior engineers into the Knapsack team to lead the re-architecture.
We redesigned the core infrastructure for speed, trust, and broader functionality, enabling Knapsack to evolve from a notetaking app into a full AI workflow platform with three product lines: Knaps (modular workflow automations), Knapsack Chat (an embeddable AI SDK for SaaS companies), and Knapsack Studio (a workflow builder for custom AI pipelines).
Key technical contributions included building a privacy-first AI architecture that processes sensitive data without exposing it to third-party LLMs, integrating with enterprise systems including Salesforce, HubSpot, GSuite, Outlook, OneDrive, and financial platforms like Wealthbox and eMoney, and developing modular AI workflows that generate emails, newsletters, PDFs, CRM updates, and meeting notes automatically.
The platform now serves teams across financial services, healthcare, and professional services, enabling them to chat with their data, automate tasks across internal systems, and deploy custom AI agents without writing code. Knapsack processes data locally or in secure cloud environments, giving enterprises AI productivity gains while meeting compliance obligations. Technologies: Python, TypeScript, React, Node.js, LLM integration, vector databases, AWS, SOC 2/HIPAA/GDPR compliance.

### Legacy-to-Modern Platform for Vet Pharmacy Leader
Cheesecake Labs partnered with Wedgewood, one of the oldest and largest compounded animal medication providers in the United States serving over 70,000 veterinarians and millions of pets annually, to modernize their digital platform from a fragmented legacy system into a scalable, high-performance web experience.
The challenge: Years of organic growth and acquisitions (including Blue Rabbit, an online veterinary pharmacy for prescription management and home delivery) left Wedgewood with a website built on a patchwork of technologies.
The legacy platform suffered from high maintenance costs, operational rigidity where small content changes required developer involvement, and limited scalability that couldn't incorporate newly acquired businesses. Cheesecake Labs executed a full application modernization strategy. We migrated content infrastructure to Contentstack, a modern headless CMS, enabling non-technical staff to edit and publish pages without engineering support.
We designed 30+ modular content components for dynamic page creation, giving the team flexibility to launch new pages, campaigns, and product lines independently. We built the frontend with React and Next.js for server-side rendering, delivering faster page loads and improved SEO.
We integrated legacy systems including Klevu (search) and Salesforce (inventory/CRM) to preserve business functionality while modernizing the presentation layer. Hosting was migrated to Contentstack Launch for auto-scaling, improved uptime, and lower maintenance overhead. Results: The modernized platform delivered a 23% increase in lead generation.
Twice as many veterinarians and pet owners now use the site to manage prescriptions. Wedgewood's marketing team confirmed that streamlined content management significantly simplified their lead generation efforts. Technologies: React, Next.js, Contentstack (headless CMS), Klevu, Salesforce, Node.js, cloud hosting, SEO optimization.
