The scope of the project was to design and development the app from scratch. We had the requirements in place and started to write down the user stories as the master for the development. The team helped with good questions and a good understanding of mobile app development. 

Then the UI/UX design started and the designer delivered well designed screen to our full satisfaction. The development phase was based on agile principles and we had always the chance to adjust the requirements and planning. Most of the work was delivered in time and after 3 months of the app being in production we can confirm a solid app with no breakdowns so far.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We had a full picture of the requirements in the user stories. We had a prototype in place to see the flow through the app and we got the version 1.0 mid of September.

The communication with the project manager was really good. He was always informed very well, the deliverables were in time and the responds have always been very fast.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Digicode has a good team spirit and the teams consists of professionals in their domain. It has always been a straight forward and honest communication with some good advises and proposals on how to deal with certain challenges.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Digicode could have done differently?

Like in every (software) project we learned a lot on how we could have done better. Some pieces of communication could have been better, some things could have gone smoother on both sides. But with more than 20 years of experience in software projects I'm happy to confirm that this was a good project with a good outcome.

Moldcell is the second largest telecom operator in Moldova, portability leader and the only digital operator in the country. My name is Vadim Barbacaru, Project Owner and Digital Channels Expert.

For what projects/services did your company hire Digicode?

Moldcell used to have 2 separate web-sites: corporate and e-commerce one. We had the purpose to unify both in one single platform with a refreshed modern design and outstanding user experience. Now we have started the technical implementation phase based on the design created by Digicode. Our goal is to increase the traffic and sales conversion rate.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We have selected Digicode following a tender with multiple participants. Even from the first interview, Digicode team created the impression of professionals and inspired the trust that the final product will meet all our expectations, meeting the deadlines. Apart from that, they made a thorough analysis of our current web site and pointed out all weak points that we need to work on. Price and capability to meet all our requirements were also decisive.

After a series of discovery meetings and user interviews, Digicode have presented a sketch of the new web site with some initial recommendations, which we accepted right away. As a result of the customer journey and workflows analysis, we have received the wireframes and right after thereof approval - the UI Design.

We appreciated that the communication with the working team was continuous, with regular weekly follow-up and planning meetings without any disruption even in the harsh conditions faced by Ukraine, where the team resides and works. Though our project started only 3 weeks before the Russian army attacked Ukraine, Digicode team made the outmost so that the project deadline is not impacted.

We worked with 2 specialists: UX/UI lead and a designer.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The designers guided us and answered all our questions and comments related to the UI/UX design. Now it is simple for our developers to implement it. We are confident that all the KPIs will be improved once our new web site will be live.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The communication between our teams was totally solid. We have always received answers to our questions in short time, and when necessary we were seeing each other in video conferences to discuss and decide questions that are more complex.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

From the very beginning, the designers wanted to understand our history, vision, strategy, goals, so that they practically managed to be part of our team. Thus, it was much easier to provide us with the solution we needed.

We are satisfied about the working together and the final result.

I'm the founder, owner, and CEO of VSENSE Internet Ltd, and one of the companies is called SellFree Tech LTD.

What challenge were you trying to address with Digicode?

We had a very complex e-commerce gaming project that we had to get done, and Digicode helped us develop it from A to Z.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They did everything from scratch. I worked with the team on everything, but they designed everything. They also planned all the projects, chose the technology, implemented and chose the infrastructures.

The app was on Google Play and Apple Play Store. Moreover, it was also a desktop, Facebook, tablet, and mobile app for all platforms — it was a cross-platform project.

What is the team composition?

I'd say we worked with about maybe 7–9 people, but I used to work with the whole team. Every morning, we had a call with the whole team to go over the project from A to Z.

How did you come to work with Digicode?

A friend recommended them.

How much have you invested with them?

I'd say we spent about $250,000–$300,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

I don't remember when we started working together, maybe it was around June 2017. The project was completed, but we are still working with them on other projects. The project took about eight months, so I'd say it ended in February 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They've done an amazing job and there were a lot of downloads on our app — people enjoyed the app a lot. I was in the middle of a big round but then COVID-19 happened so everything got stalled.

How did Digicode perform from a project management standpoint?

Amazingly amazing. For communication, we used Skype on a daily basis. Every morning, we had a meeting going over everything.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I'd say we’re impressed with their expertise, development speed, pricing, and the team was super nice, understanding, tolerant, and very easy to work with. One of the biggest problems of working with companies abroad is keeping the feeling that you're all part of the same project because it's a bit weird now. 

Maybe after COVID-19, it would be easier for everybody to understand this, but it was quite difficult back in the day, but Digicode were just amazing people throughout the project. Having the morning meetings for the project with all of the team helped us a lot with the whole vibe of the project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don't know. I liked everything and I'm still working with them on projects nowadays, so I was quite happy with everything.

Any advice for potential customers?

My advice would be to check the prices and projects with them before they go somewhere and close with someone else.

We've decided to work with these teams as a remote integrated team, which means, the team was under the supervision and management of the in-house very capable and demanding R&D management.

The flexibility, dynamic approach and adaptiveness to whatever requirement we had. The level and quality of the team were extraordinary.

I'm the co-owner of Rapid Image Ltd, we sell software for managing clinics and medical centers. I serve as CTO in the company.

Our legacy products were created over 20 years ago and had become outdated. We wanted to assemble a new team that will be dedicated to creating a new product and lacked the internal resources to do this while also supporting our existing customers. By using Digicode, we were hoping to have the dedicated complete MVP on time.

Word of mouth. We were referred to Digicode by another customer of theirs who recommended their service.

We had a kick-off meeting to discuss our goals and objectives. We started with technical stack selection: C# asp.net backend, SQL Server, Angular JS, and then started development. From there, we had weekly meetings and sometimes we visited Digicode offices for more in-depth sessions as required. The team was managed internally by us, but also by Digicode's customer success executive.

The team size changed dynamically according to our needs, ranging from 2-4 full-time full-stack developers, and additional part-time developers, designers, QA, and recently a project manager as well. We also worked with the customer success executive, their CTO, head of delivery, and CEO himself.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our MVP was completed within our budget and time constraints. The team never felt external, we always got the feeling that everyone in touch with us at Digicode was a real partner.

We used JIRA to coordinate the tasks for team members, and had daily Skype chats. As the team grew we now have daily stand-ups but direct chat between our product manager and Digicode team is still our main communication tool.

They care about both their customers and their employees. They are always willing to find common ground in case of conflict and work together to find a solution. They were willing to bring other people to the project as needed. I find their mentorship program impressive and had the privilege to have some team members under that program.

If you're creating a new product or service, and don't plan on continued development, I recommend finalizing an agreement regarding ongoing maintenance.
