Bliokod Labs, due to the growing demand for their services and strengthening of their position on the market, has opened recruitment for the position of UX/UI Designers. We needed top-quality design specialists, because the level of advancement of orders and projects was very high (we conducted projects for Mercedes and KFC). The results of our recruitment were not satisfactory, so we decided to cooperate with an external partner and selected DevsData LLC.

After a series of online calls and signing the contract, the DevsData team began the search.

During regular weekly meetings, they reported back to us on their progress and sent us complete candidate recommendations. The candidates they sent us have set the bar very high. They were well qualified, experienced and professional. Ultimately, we hired two designers who helped the company scale and achieve great results.

Our level of service has definitely increased, the developers were characterized by a fresh, modern approach. They created great designs that satisfied the big brands and clients we work with. The company shot up and began to scale.

The collaboration was surprisingly good. We had never used an outside company and were skeptical of them, however, DevsData changed our perception. The company representatives were very engaged, proactive and communicative. We were always kept up to date and never had to worry about anything.

What stands out the most about the recommendations from DevsData is that the designers were really good at rapidly constructing low-fi mockups and user flow for new web & mobile applications, coming with useful logical conclusions and assumptions.

We had many problems during our own internal recruitment process. The candidates we were interviewing were not up to our standards. I’ve heard of DevsData through a few friends from the industry, so I reached out to them.

I got handed a profile of the candidate, a briefing from his algorithmic tests and from the technical interview - the information was very detailed. We had our own internal technical interview, and he was passed it really well. All 2 of the developers we hired were not only exceptional engineers, but they also had great communication skills. It was the whole package. They gave me a 3-month guarantee if, for some reason, I decided that they did not fit in the company, but I had no need of exercising this right.

We decided to hire 2 engineers based on DevsData’s recommendation. They perform very well, are a part of my core technical team, and I couldn’t imagine expanding the product without them.

We did not have to do anything on our part, just wait for the recommended candidates, and we did not have to wait long. As I said, they gave us all the materials, notes and comments they had created during the technical vetting process of a given candidate. The weekly calls kept me in the loop until we got profile recommendations. I think our cooperation has been very efficient and I love it.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Considering how long we were looking for candidates on our own, the whole process was rapid. The time in which they were able to deliver the candidates was incredible. Not only that, but also the expertise of the candidates they recommended was exceptional. They really were quality, top-notch candidates found in the shortest time possible.

They started the conversation with a profound understanding of my business needs. We divided the project into three phases so that the progress could be more granular. I spoke with the company's representatives on a daily basis and their willingness to precisely understand my needs is what really resonated with me. I signed a senior Front-End developer with React and a senior UI/UX designer for the project.

They created initial low-fidelity mockups for the new website and gathered feedback very frequently, which I really appreciate. The first phase (finished design) was completed in under two weeks and shortly after, we moved forward with the next phases. The website is really fast and looks appealing. I found them through a friend’s recommendation, we had a meeting and based on their portfolio, they’ve done numerous similar projects in the past, so I was confident in their ability to deliver.

I told them exactly what I was looking for and they showed me their past projects, which were similar to mine - they’ve not only done website redesigns, but also e-commerce website redesigns, which was perfect for our collaboration. After I was pretty much convinced by them we scheduled a meeting and talked more about the idea, one of their in-house engineers described to me how the implementation would work, how many working hours would be needed, etc. We signed the contract and after a week or so, they sent the profiles of the recommended candidates for the project - one front-end developer and one graphic designer. I interviewed them, but I could not check their technical skills, however the technical lead from DevsData assured me of their expertise and I was given a guarantee of the project deliverance, so I felt pretty safe. Not that the guarantee was needed, because those candidates were very capable and finished the redesign on time. They were working on a half-time basis and the whole project was done in about 6 weeks. During the project itself I had contact directly with the candidates, they were communicative and designed everything exactly the way I wanted them to, without any bugs or issues.

Everyone at the company (myself included) loved the new website from the moment it was created. The more important benchmark however is the conversion rate, which went up significantly. Given that no other factors changed during that time, the website redesign must have been the sole contributor.

The cooperation between me and the two developers was spot-on, basically how I imagine a perfect project, with a business person communicating their needs to the technical team and them implementing that idea quickly and without issues. When it comes to my communication with DevsData, they always responded fast and delivered on their promises so certainly no complaints here.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Probably the results of the project, because I have not anticipated this redesign being such a big success. But maybe I just underestimated my idea, so talking about DevsData directly, I think what impressed me the most was the pace of every step of the collaboration. From creating the project’s scope, finding the candidates, starting the project instantly and finishing it on a short deadline - there was not a second wasted during the entire process. This rapid pace and immaculate organization are what stood out to me most about DevsData.

My company provides professional back-end software development services for US clients focused on extensive data processing and complex backend. Some of the clients we’ve worked with needed Front-End related work as well, and so far, we haven't been able to offer that as a backend is the only thing we do (and we do it very well). To make things worse, our clients are of a premium caliber, with super high expectations. Honestly, I wasn’t able to find a solid front-end engineer for our needs before and turned to DevsData for help.

I was immediately blown away by the technical skills that the candidate had and decided to hire him immediately after a tech interview and a brief trial period.

Tom is on all platforms where you need him to be. Honestly, this was so quick turnaround, I don't even remember which one we used that time. I'm in touch with Tom almost every day he's rapidly responding on all channels, LI, slack, phone, skype...

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They delivered a top quality professional within hours of my request and I messaged them after 17:00 while competitiors took weeks to provide a low quality engineer I have no use for.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I don't think Devsdata can get any better, they just need to stay the way they are. I already did a few things with them and their performance is consistent, unlike some companies which are lucky (or sometimes not). Tom is keeping everything in check, makes sure it's all good. Quality control is rare in this line of business, I think this is the secret sauce of their exceptional quality.

We hire DevsData to help us recruit a Machine Learning Lead and 3 Data Annotation specialists. It was an international search and they were competing with another recruitment agency, but outperformed them by a long shot.

How did you select this firm and what were the deciding factors?

Our in-house recruitment process was taking too long and we were in danger of losing potential clients because we did not have enough manpower. I started looking for an agency to help us conduct the process and found DevsData. The case studies listed on their website convinced me to at least book a call and after that meeting I was completely convinced to hire them.

At first we had a preliminary discussion about whether I even wanted to hire them to search for candidates for those open positions. They showed me their track record and described their industry knowledge and to be honest I was happy to hire them as my outside recruiter, because it seemed like they knew much more about technical recruitment than we did at our company and they really did.

After that we had another call with my company’s CTO and their recruitment lead in order to create the most detailed profiles possible for the Machine Learning Lead and the three Data Annotation specialists.

Once we had those, DevsData began the process and every week we received updates about how the process was going during our catch-up call. They presented the candidates that were faring well on their tests and interviews but insisted on finishing the whole recruitment before recommending anyone.

After about 4-5 weeks we got the recommendation for the ML Lead and in 3 more weeks we also had all other positions filled. I interviewed each person personally about their motivations, communications skills and so on, and my CTO checked their technical knowledge. We had no issues with any of the candidates and signed every one of them. The candidates proposed to us by the other competing agency were not up to our standards, so I was all the more pleased with DevsData.

DevsData’s technical interviewer was named Nikita if I am not mistaken, and those were all the people I had contact with, though I am aware that the entire team working on our process was bigger, that’s why they were able to sort through so many candidates so quickly.

There were at least two other technical interviewers and two or three people worked on the CV pre-screening phase, because that’s what I saw in our updates - we received all the data gathered on the candidates and each step was signed by the person who conducted it.

We hired all the recommended engineers on the first try and, except for one Data Annotation specialist, they are still working at our company. The Machine Learning Lead more than lived up to my expectations - he turned out to be an invaluable asset and has led our most challenging and profitable projects.

The whole cooperation was very smooth, we received our weekly updates and just waited for the most promising candidates to finish the entire process. We were also given all the data, notes and interview transcripts with comments about every candidate. The process was very transparent and we could see why each candidate was rejected or how our potential future hires were doing on their algorithmic tests. All in all, I would definitely classify the workflow between our teams as effective and very fruitful.

After the initial call, we had a meeting to discuss the profiles of the people we were looking for in detail. On our end, the meeting was led by the tech lead of the new division and on their side, there were two senior developers, both with more than 10 years of experience, and a business development specialist who was our contact person.

They asked a lot of questions in order to better understand our needs. After creating profiles for the candidates and agreeing on their contract terms (salary, vacation days, etc.), DevsData was ready to begin the recruitment process. Every week we had an update call to learn more about how the process is going. We had access to all the candidates’ CVs, their algorithmic tests, technical interviews, all the comments the interviewers made.

In the end, they came to us with their recommended candidates. We received descriptions with a brief of DevsData’s findings, but we were also free to look through everything they have gathered. We had our own technical interviews with each of the recommended people, but as it turned out, it was not needed. DevsData did an excellent job when vetting the candidates and our tech lead had no issues with any of them. We ended up hiring those developers and the newly founded team did very well inside our company.

The whole process was very transparent, we were up to date on everything that was going on. What struck me the most was their ability to find those candidates in such a short period of time. Within two months, we managed to fix all the existing issues on our platform and implement the most recent technological solutions. Now we have a properly functioning platform for our customers with all the requested functionalities and are expanding with new features and refreshed UI layout.

We spent quite a lot of time discussing the user flow, must-have features and the entire scope of the project. After that, I had weekly meetings with the assembled team, so Martha as the project manager, two developers and a senior graphic designer who in particular impressed me with his work. They all did a marvellous job and were quick about it, so we could get our business off the ground as fast as possible.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

As I said, after Radek and Natalie assembled the team, one of them was present during the weekly calls, the whole process was coordinated by Martha, and the actual coding was done by two developers and a senior UI/UX designer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our business relies greatly on our website. After the new platform was launched, we had more customers than ever before. Now our website is not only a place to order our service but is also pleasing to look at and a place where you can find various articles, news, etc.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.

Really effective, in my opinion, had no problems whatsoever. The project was done fast, and the communication was on point. At all times, I knew exactly what was being worked on. All of the DevsData’s project materials were visible to us, their schedule, all team meetings, we were kept up to date on everything.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It is truly impressive how fast they were able to deliver the project. Working in sprints pushed the progress forward at an extreme pace, and, without a doubt, that was most impressive to me during the whole process. Another aspect is the appealing graphical outlook of the website - modern layout, flashy animations and responsive design. They even connect marketing tools to test and measure user behaviour as well as conversion rates on our target events resulting in a visible revenue increase for the business.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

I don’t think so, I enjoyed every aspect of our collaboration. Will highly recommend them to any business owner in need of a refreshed website design (or any technology project, really).
