I’m the CTO at tiramizoo, a German-based organization working in Europe and Southeast Asia. We build products.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with DevOps Group?

As a growing company, we must pay more attention to our infrastructure to handle the increasing load and customers. Our ultimate goal was to build our infrastructure to keep our solution provider agnostic.

SOLUTION

What is the scope of their involvement?

DevOps Group has helped us with migration from Heroku infrastructure to AWS and Google Cloud computing. They’ve provided knowledge on how the architecture could be improved and how it could be written in the code-to-infrastructure approach. They’ve worked on the execution and production using Pulumi and Terraform. Additionally, they’ve offered maintenance services.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with four teammates from their end. We’re in touch with the head of the DevOps team and a senior DevOps engineer.

How did you come to work with DevOps Group?

Someone in my close network recommended them. He said DevOps Group was a great company; they were reliable and skilled.

I reached out to them, and we started working on several projects together.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent over €150,000 (approximately $163,000 USD) so far.

What is the status of the engagement?

The partnership started in July 2021, and it's still ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The work is in progress, but we monitor internal KPIs. For example, the actual monthly costs have gone down. We’ve also enabled ourselves for a higher scalability capability that wasn’t only connected to the database limitation. 

Moreover, our infrastructure lets us spin off multiple environments without major problems, which is helpful during peak season. We had to perform load testing for the entire system, but it was super easy.

Additionally, we’ve got credits from AWS thanks to the migration.

How did the DevOps Group perform from a project management standpoint?

DevOps Group helps us determine how realistic our goals are and what can make them unreliable. Moreover, they’re highly transparent, and their communication skills are brilliant. We use Basecamp to manage the project and Slack for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their expertise stands out compared to other vendors we’ve worked with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wish that they offered their services 24/7. It’s crucial for our business and infrastructure because our products are located on two continents.

Any advice for potential customers?

Ensure your needs are well explained and be transparent to all the members you work with. The team needs to understand why you want to do certain things and what you need to accomplish.
Additionally, it helps to keep your ears wide open. You’ll hire them because they know better than you, so they’ll have plenty of ideas to improve your initial take on the solution.
