Deliverables
Maintenance and Optimization of Ed-Fi Implementation
Based on our previous experience and understanding of supporting, training and sustaining hands-on working sessions with the BPS team regarding the Ed-Fi ODS API, we propose using the agile methodology discussed above for a successful engagement. This will allow us to iterate on and adjust timelines as needed. 

Over the next year, in addition to regularly monitoring and optimizing the existing on-premise Ed-Fi ODS API, we have identified an initial list of tasks that includes but is not limited to other work that is prioritized in the discovery meetings:

• CICD - Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery: We will maintain and enhance your CICD infrastructure.
• Ed-Fi ODS API & toolset upgrade: As new versions of the Ed-Fi ODS API & Toolset get released, we will analyze and discuss with the BPS team the pros, cons and impact of adopting them. If agreed upon, we will proceed with the upgrades and communicate updates to vendors to ensure compatibility and seamless integration with other systems and applications.
  Vendor support: It is very important to support BPS’s vendors with any questions and needs they may have regarding the integration into the Ed-Fi ODS/API. We will support vendors with real life examples and PostMan requests so that they fully understand how easy it is to integrate with the Ed-Fi ODS API. This is not limited to Core functionality and includes any specific extensions that BPS has and will have in the future.
• Ed-Fi customizations and extensions: Our priority is to stay as close to the Ed-Fi Standard Core as possible. We know that the standard does not cover absolutely everything. We will work closely with BPS and coordinate with the Ed-Fi Alliance regarding any extension that we agree are necessary. For us, extensions are suggestions to the standard. It is important to communicate with the Ed-Fi Alliance and ensure that they consider these extensions for further growth and enhancements to the standard. Upon implementation of these extensions, we will also support vendors in the understanding of them and how to implement them.
  Data integrity and enhancement: We will support the Data Checker tool to ensure data accuracy and integrity and implement extensions to meet specific reporting and data integration requirements. When there are no support tickets in the backlog, we will work on enhancements to the Data Checker.

Cloud Migration Assessment and Support
The current on prem infrastructure will be maintained and enhanced during the duration of this project, and while work is happening to support BPS’ current infrastructure, Edufied will deploy an upgraded version of Ed-Fi (ODS/API v7.1 DS v5.0) in Edufied’s hosting environment, create the current extensions, and support vendors to upgrade their integrations. We have performed an initial inventory of BPS’ current applications and understand the level of effort required to migrate BPS to a cloud hosted solution.

We had an application with tech debt that needed attention and additional resources in order to achieve our goal of being fully updated by the end of the year. We were able to achieve this goal by hiring a software engineer that was primarily focused on updating our application's technology.

A second developer was hired for another project to help with updating our unit testing and providing general support. We wanted to make sure that our tests were working as expected in pipelines so that we could more easily catch issues early on, and through his support we were able to achieve that goal.

Our unit tests are now up to date and passing in application pipelines.
Our applications are now to up to date on the most modern versions of their dependencies.

Developers.net has always been very responsive to our needs and happy to accomodate us however they can. They took on the burden of finding individuals for us to interview, helped with the scheduling of those interviews, and when we provided feedback they further refined their candidate search to make sure that we received candidates that met our needs.

When and if the employees we hired through them had to leave, we were able to get replacements for them in short time, and they were in touch with us as needed to make sure it happened.

Everyone at Developers.net has been very friendly and easy to talk to. If I've ever had any questions, concerns, or feedback they listen and have always done their best to make sure we're well taken care of.

There have been some times when the applicants given to us have been off the mark, so further refining the applicants given to us for interviews is a place that has room for improvement.  We were able to find the right people with additional communication and our projects were able to be delivered successfully because of their help.
