Design Brewery designed and developed our website. The team started with a discovery and planning phase to understand our ecosystem, including workshops, books, schools, parents, and children as users. Design Brewery defined user journeys, created a sitemap, and defined the tech stack.Design Brewery created wireframes for the homepage, workshops pages, books pages, about pages, and contact pages. The team also created a visual design system, including colors, typography, and icons, and designed a mobile-first responsive design.Design Brewery developed the website’s front end and created page templates for landing pages, workshop detail pages, and blog pages. The team also added interactive elements, including forms and filters, and optimized the website’s performance. Design Brewery developed the back end, set up the CMS, and created a database structure.Design Brewery integrated payment gateways and created a certification portal. The team also integrated email automation, WhatsApp notifications, CRM, and Google Analytics. Design Brewery uploaded initial content, including workshops, books, and about pages, and optimized images. The team also implemented SEO basics.Design Brewery tested the website, set up the domain and hosting, and provided go-live support. The team also provided post-launch support and maintenance.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Design Brewery’s website was generally well appreciated. The website’s page load time was less than three seconds, and the mobile performance score was more than 90. The website was fully responsive across mobile, tablet, and desktop and worked on all major browsers. Key pages were accessible within three clicks, and the menu structure was clear. The form submission success rate was 100%, and the payment gateway integration worked.

How did Design Brewery perform from a project management standpoint?

Design Brewery’s project management was extremely professional and detail-oriented. The team was meticulous in planning and execution, communicated clearly at every stage, and delivered everything on time. We communicated via virtual meetings and email or messaging apps.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What I found most unique was Design Brewery’s sensitivity to the educational context. The team took the time to understand how children, parents, and schools would interact with the platform and translated that into thoughtful design and functionality. It felt less like working with developers and more like collaborating with partners who cared about the learning experience.

There wasn’t anything significant that stood out. The process was well-managed throughout.

1. Discovery of the needs and finalising the exact features to be built

3. Fully functional UI ready for hand off to the engineers

1. The research phase and the wireframing phase went well, but UI required a lot of iterations, although it did turn out great at the end

What challenges were you trying to address with Design Brewery?

We hired Design Brewery to help us with our website’s revamp project. Our main challenge was creating a UI/UX design for our site.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Design Brewery helped us with a complete redesign of our site, including UI/UX design. Initially, they asked us for references of sites we liked to get a clearer understanding of what we were looking for. However, there were no similar sites, at least in Asia.

Hence, we provided Design Brewery with a mock-up of what we wanted to achieve based on our ideas and our previous website, and they came up with a mood board and designed the wireframes. As for the technology stack, they used Figma for the UI/UX designs.

What was the team composition?

We worked with 4–5 teammates from Design Brewery, including a design lead, 2–3 designers, and a project manager.

How did you come to work with Design Brewery?

Someone from their design team contacted us on LinkedIn and shared their profile. I saw that they had done some interesting work, including similar projects for organizations similar to ours. Therefore, I got in touch with Design Brewery’s CEO and talked about our challenges and requirements.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in February 2023, and the entire project lasted around five weeks.

Design Brewery understood our product and needs very well. They understood our business so well that they even provided us with suggestions we hadn’t thought of.

How did Design Brewery perform from a project management standpoint?

Design Brewery’s project management was on point. They never missed a deadline, and they actually delivered ahead of schedule most of the time. We mostly communicated via Zoom and email, and we also shared files.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team that Design Brewery managed to assemble was great. Everyone I interacted with from their team was a star, which made them stand out from their competitors. Working with them was a pleasure, and I had a great experience. I handle a lot of service providers daily, and Design Brewery definitely stood out during our collaboration.

On top of that, the way that Design Brewery took and incorporated feedback was very important, and the way they explained things to us was great. Their feedback, responsiveness, and understanding of our goals made me feel like I wasn’t working with a third-party company.

I can’t think of anything Design Brewery could improve on.

The project management was a challenge at first. But they responded quickly to feedback and put things in place to ensure progress. The delivery took couple of months longer due to various reasons. They were always highly responsive to our needs. Their designer took great pains to ensure our needs are met, that they produce a high quality output. I will say they approached it with a relationship driven mindset.

BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder and CEO of Jajal Medical. We’re a medical device company that converts CT scans into 3D models. Whenever there’s a serious condition, this is one of the key components of our complex surgeries and understanding anatomies.

First, the surgeons upload the CT scan. Based on that, we create a 3D model of the patient’s anatomy and provide this open visualization to the surgeon, the patient, and everyone who is part of the healthcare ecosystem.

What challenge were you trying to address with Design Brewery?

We needed someone to create a very simple yet powerful interface that communicated exactly what we do. This platform was something that didn’t exist, but there was a global need for it. We needed it to support very smooth transitions and wanted to build it using My Segmenter.

The platform had to work for surgeons, patients, and 3D printing partners. It had to have a very appealing look as well as an interface that people liked.

We had a high-level concept of what we needed. Even though we had an in-house web development team, we needed help to build the entire UI/UX platform for this.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Design Brewery went through an iterative process to really understand our different customers, what we do, and our problems. They made sure that our branding, colors, and our presentation were accurate and perfect.

The final output is a functional dummy website. It’s a completely cloud-based platform where our development team is able to implement using the UI that Design Brewery has done. It’s a collaborative effort between Design Brewery and our in-house team.

Design Brewery made a suggestion that we should have everything, including the pricing, on our main page. Since what we do is confusing, we don’t want users to have to scroll around to find all the information.

On the main page, we created an animation that clearly explains our services. Users can immediately drag and drop their files and get started. They also suggested that we use Three.js as our backend engine for the visualization side.

I’ve worked with the founder and CEO, a senior UI/UX lead, and another UI/UX person.

How did you come to work with Design Brewery?

I had seen some of Design Brewery’s work in my previous organization, and I was very impressed with it. When I started my company, I never thought I’d be able to afford them. However, I reached out to them, and they were really flexible. They wanted to work with me and said we’d figure out the money aspect.

We started working together in August 2019, and the main project lasted until April 2020. Our partnership is ongoing because there’s always work with changes and updates.

We consider Design Brewery a great partner when it comes to UI/UX development — their work is phenomenal.

After we launched our platform, we got orders from customers asking us to develop their UI/UX. People say it’s an amazing experience. It is exactly what we wanted, and we’re very happy about our relationship with them.

How did Design Brewery perform from a project management standpoint?

Design Brewery is right on time. Sometimes, we’re slow on our side because we have to collect data from customers or surgeons. However, as soon as we confirm the data, they start working.

We use Figma to communicate, which has made the process faster. It makes it easy for all of us to communicate and share information. They send us a message whenever they update something.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I admire the simplicity in Design Brewery’s designs. It takes a lot of time and energy to put something in a way that customers really want, However, They understand very well the need for very clean and impactful tools.

There’s nothing that I’d have them improve.
