What challenge were you trying to address with DEENCE LTD?

I was launching my business and wanted to build a website for my organization. I wanted to develop the ideas I had around my website, so it would become stimulating to anyone that was on the other end of the page.

What was the scope of their involvement?

DEENCE LTD took care of the design and development of the page. They also integrated a blog system for my website. I already have site content, but the way that they've built it allows me to link back to some other pages. It provides an opportunity for me to leverage it for marketing. 

What is the team composition?

My main contact was Lewis (Co-Founder). I know that there was at least one other person behind the scenes, although I mainly communicated with Lewis.

How did you come to work with DEENCE LTD?

DEENCE LTD was recommended to me by someone who I trust, so I started the project as a result of that. I also knew that the quote I was given was reasonable based on my understanding of the market and what I was looking for. I liked Lewis’s energy and enthusiasm; I found him highly responsive during the project.

How much have you invested with them?

I invested £22,000 (approximately $30,200 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in January 2020 and ended in March 2021.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I asked people who did similar types of consultancy what they thought about the site, and they had positive things to say. However, in terms of securing clients, I don't have any strong feedback yet since we just launched the site, but I can say that what I had in mind was executed more than properly.

How did DEENCE LTD perform from a project management standpoint?

When there was something that he had to update me about, or if I had something I wanted to talk to him about, everything was done via email and text. Their team met deadlines. There were occasional points where I needed to go back and make changes, but that wasn't a question of not coming back in the right amount of time. That was the kind of iterative process that I expected, and they were highly responsive.

If I had tweaks or issues during the first 2–3 months after launch, I was able to contact DEENCE LTD and make any changes. I did have a couple of troubles, but that's been taken care of. I don't think I'll be contacting them regularly again, although I may well use their services for SEO in the future.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I think Lewis was very creative. Not only that, their team knew how to challenge an idea, while also working in a warm and gentle style. DEENCE LTD was highly effective in terms of client management, responsiveness, and getting the work done.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wanted to launch in a certain amount of time and it was broad-scale delivered. There was one point where there was a slight misunderstanding in terms of the timing. However aside from that, everything was perfect.

Any advice for potential customers?

I recommend tapping into his creativity and his advice and not being too locked in your ways of thinking. Allowing their team to have the time to work on things without sitting on them is the best way to approach this partnership.

I’m the chairman at ACQSYS Supply Chain Solutions Ltd. It’s an asset recovery company. We recover equipment for companies; like a repo business but in the B2B space.

What challenge were you trying to address with DEENCE LTD?

I wanted a new website. The original one was pretty good, but we have more recently moved into the field of sustainability and pushing the circular economy.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They built our website completely from scratch. We didn’t take anything from the former website. I wrote a lot of the copy, but DEENCE LTD did most of the design all from the ground up. I gave them a free hand to come up with a design for me. While I’m good at writing my own copy, I wanted a good framework to fit it in and DEENCE LTD handled that. We also moved all of our emails to match the website, and they all moved to Outlook from Microsoft Office 365.

I wanted the website to reflect the sustainability angle. There was a lot of thought about initial impressions and there were more graphics on sustainability with things floating in a bit. I wanted something fairly simple because we don’t use it as a sales tool much. Most of our sales come through contacts and knocking on doors. I wanted the website to be like an extremely good brochure. It was designed to tell the story without having to be too detailed or trying to make a sale. What we needed was for leads to be interested enough to make a call.

What is the team composition?

I generally work directly with Lewis (Technical Director). Joe (Web Developer) did some of the legwork on the site, but I didn’t interact with him much and tended to mostly deal with Lewis.

How did you come to work with DEENCE LTD?

Another company recommended we work with Lewis. When I wanted to do the variation and the access, we went directly to DEENCE LTD as I knew of them through their work.

How much have you invested in them?

We invested £2,500 (approximately $3,500 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in June 2020, and it was completed within less than two months.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We don’t use the website as a sales tool so I don’t spend a lot of time on Google Analytics looking at clickthrough rates and things like that. What I’m interested in is that we get a good number of visits. Oftentimes, our traffic is from people we’re already talking to who then look up the website.

This is why I want it to be a good brochure. We can’t measure the website in the way one would measure a sales tool. But it does what I want which is to look clean and fresh. The website gets the message across quickly and it shows all of our clients that in a strong way.

How did DEENCE LTD perform from a project management standpoint?

DEENCE LTD hit every single deadline. There was no problem at all with punctuality. They also have a very interesting communication system that Lewis designed called Feeval. He can send me a link with a page for example, and then I can go onto that link. Instead of having to send emails back to him telling him to change things or that I don’t like something, I can make all of those comments on the Feeval platform.

I update it with my feedback, and he gets it back to me straight away. It’s a smart tool for handling updates. There aren’t any delays, missed emails, or lost communication. Once a week, we’d have a Zoom call to review things, so it all worked really smoothly.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The initial concern that I might have had was that Lewis is young. He has just finished his degree, and we’ve been working with him since he was a student. What has impressed me is that Lewis has a very mature approach to things. He doesn’t panic, and when things need to be changed, he takes it in and gets on with that. Lewis delivers quickly on that. It sounds a bit bizarre but there’s a maturity about the way he works which suits me because I’ve been around a long time and have seen some nonsense in my time. Lewis is very good.

Are there any areas they could improve?

At the time of the engagement, I think Lewis was struggling. He was delivering but it was at quite a cost. He was working too many hours and the one thing that he does have — that doesn’t surprise me — is an inability to delegate. Lewis is a bit of a perfectionist. As the business grows, that could become a problem.

However, I do know that he has already recruited Joe and has other team members now as well. The room for improvement is that Lewis needs to learn how to hand responsibilities out to people, but he’s working on that. It didn’t have any impact on us, but I imagine it would over time as he gets bigger and busier.

Our challenge was to create a brand new website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

DEENCE LTD helped us build and develop a new website from scratch because we didn’t want to reference the old website. I worked with Lewis (Technical Director) and they did the website mapping and construction of each page — we helped them with the design aspect.

The old website was really old, we stopped its maintenance because we couldn’t support it locally. Not to mention its design looked very old-fashioned. We wanted to modernize the website because the business was purchased by another group entity with a completely different type of branding, colors, and wordings.

Moreover, Lewis gave us access to make changes such as pictures and layouts. That helped us cut down on time and it enabled us to get exactly what we wanted. We were at that point where we could try different things before the website went live, rather than having DEENCE do all the changes.

I was just dealing with Lewis throughout the project.

How did you come to work with DEENCE LTD?

Lewis is a friend of my firm. Originally, we spent about a year choosing from 4–5 different companies. We didn’t move forward with any of them because none of them seemed to be listening to what we wanted to do. They were just telling us what we think we should have or how our website should look.

However, when I spoke to Lewis, we started discussing what our requirements were and it just made sense to work with him straight away. He listened to what we wanted instead of laying over what they normally do.

The project went on from June–November 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The quality of their work and attitude were absolutely exceptional. It was a completely interactive experience, and they kept us advised on any changes that were being made. We had full access to the website, which was really good and we’re very happy with it.

They were able to achieve our vision and it looked a lot better than we thought it would. We had certain ideas of what we wanted for the website, but DEENCE was able to enhance it to make it even better.

How did DEENCE LTD perform from a project management standpoint?

Perfect. In fact, they were waiting for us a lot of the time. Every time we slipped on a deadline, they picked it up straight away. We mostly communicated through the telephone and email.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I would say their flexibility, professionalism, and the quality of their work. They were able to give us exactly what we needed, and the results we ended up with were a lot better than we thought — we got really good value for the money.

They were really good at not just talking us through it, but also helping us get to where we want to be. We were so happy with the results.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. I don’t normally do reviews, my view in life is if I pay for a service, I’d expect good service. I agreed to do this review because I thought what they provided was exceptional.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice would be to communicate consistently. During the project, we kept changing our minds. However, since the communication was so good, we could pick up the phone or email them and they’ll respond right away. Keep the communication going with these guys because they’re really good.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

With the new website already in short term, we started to receive many new inquiries which we never had before. Each team member in our team very happy with the performance of the website.

They never say no or that something's hard to do. They always had solutions to our needs.
