Dashdevs designed a windows application to work with our existing iOS application. The windows application enumerated all connected printers, exposed them to the iOS application via an API that was developed together, and allowed printing including several settings that control the printing behavior. The application has a UI that includes the ability to change the printer settings, see print count, see connected printers, and which paper sizes are available.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project was developed within budget, delivered slightly ahead of time, at a high level of quality that needed no revision. Dashdevs was additionally able to accomodate several new requirements that were surfaced along the way, including delivering these still within budget and the originally forecasted schedule. Customer feedback on the windows application has been that it is very easy to use, and works very well.

All deliveries were made on time, and well communicated. All needs were responded to quickly with a reasonable discussion facilitated & completed at speed. New requirements were tackled as they arose with good communication & impact analysis.

What was important for us was having direct communication channels with the developers of the project, as we were developing our own iOS application alongside the windows application. Their developers were quick to respond, thoughtful, experienced, and very flexible. The combination of all of these has been a unique experience for us.

Dashdevs developers coordinated well with our engineering manager. They responded rapidly to critical fixes and needs as well. They performed well as thought partners on the technical architecture and were thoroughly invested in the product they were developing.

Dashdevs employs developers that are extremely deep, technically. Their sweet spot where they thrived was the complex problems. They routinely solved challenges that were previously deemed impossible. The engineering leads, specifically, were great at both helping all engineers through their work, and also put a high level of hands-on development too.

Are there any areas for improvement or something {provider_name} could have done differently?

Any global organization faces challenges with communication. There was room for improvement with proactive communication specifically, however their level of interaction was well within good project management practices for software development in a roughly 12 hour time zone difference.

To begin the project, dashdevs provided a team of experienced developers. They asked solid questions to better integrate with our in-house team. The team is building tracking and management features for data transactions and alerts. Within the platform, they built in the capability to manage thousands of pieces of information through multiple stages on the site.

We use an agile method to manage the project. dashdevs adapts quickly and continuously contributes to our success. We also have regular meetings to reflect on areas for improvement and exchange feedback.

I’m the founder and CEO of a fitness tech company that creates social networks for gyms and studios. We connect clients to other customers, to instructors, and the studio to clients and their instructors.

What challenge were you trying to address with dashdevs?

We didn’t have app development experts in-house and hired dashdevs to create the app portion of the project. When creating a community-based system for gyms and studio, there are three components needed: an app for instructors, an element for clients, and a web-based product that focuses on the studio and its happenings.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

dashdevs built our community-based native app using React Native. Using insight from our internal designers, our teams worked closely to create the UI and design. The app displays data for instructors to see who is attending their classes, including their age, gender, and attendance rate. Instructors can send messages to their clients, which gives them the ability to deepen their connection and increases the level of retention for the studio.

Their team also developed a client-based app that allows clients to join the classes and know who else is attending. The app notifies them when friends and others sign up for classes. It also allows messages to be exchanged with the instructors.

What is the team composition?

This was just one of the teams focused on one of the apps that were created. There was also one designer in there. There was a larger team working on the client app that consisted of two project managers and a team of roughly six engineers with one designer. So, over time, the team included roughly 13 people.

How did you come to work with dashdevs?

Our CTO has a friend who knew Igor (CEO, dashdevs), and he made the introduction. Engineering resources are costly in the United States, so it felt better to outsource our work.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $250,000–$500,000.

We worked with dashdevs between March 2017–October 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We wouldn’t have a product on the market without dashdevs. We’ve increased our clientele and have become one of the top five fastest growing partners for one of the platforms we integrate with. People have given rave reviews for the easy-to-use app’s design. Instructors aren’t necessarily tech-savvy. For something to feel intuitive and well-designed for them is a testament to how solid dashdevs' work is.

How did dashdevs perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management style was excellent.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Igor is incredibly knowledgeable in the world of app development. His team is equally skilled. He’s exceptional at dispensing technical advice, and if there’s a problem, he’s the first person to find a way to fix it. Our partnership was completely transparent. Igor asked where I wanted to go with the project and figured out what could be potential roadblocks. He drove his team to make the work happen.

dashdevs is our ongoing production partner and helps with building all the digital assets we require. Our first project was an app for a renowned electronics company. We sold them the idea to create a digital mobile catalog for all of their products and markets. We created the prototypes and dashdev handled the design and all of the coding, using top-notch technology.

We’ve done over five projects together and the quality of all of them has been superb.

They assigned a project manager to us, but there are developers, QA specialists, and a designer involved in our projects.

A friend of mine referred their CEO, Igor, to me.

They provide quality work. Igor is very business oriented and asks questions to better understand the reason behind a product rather than just coding things, which helps us build a better product. He always picks the best tech stack for all our clients’ products.

We do weekly status report meetings, and the level of integration between us is very high. Their communication is of superior quality, and we’ve even learned some Agile and Scrum principles from them. We like the way they structure projects.

They take every project very seriously and ask questions that are five steps ahead of what we’re doing. The results they deliver are two times better than what we expect.
