Build a platform that allows users to review previous teams and coaches the user has played with within any sport. The platform needs to collect user review data, provide insight for parents, players, and sports organizations, and assist them with making an informed decision about joining an amateur sports team. 

The platform must also make that anonymous data available to the organizations to ensure they can continue to improve their organization and grow their client base. Parents, players, and sports teams must have the ability to interact and share content with each other within the platform.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The ability to introduce new families and players to the platform and have them quickly create a profile and begin to find teams within their local area. The ease with which players found existing and completed new reviews for previous teams.

It's software! Thus, not everything was delivered on time. However we collectively made changes along the way and updated the schedule accordingly.

I am profoundly grateful for the collaborative relationship we have cultivated.

We should have setup a separate design meeting with the key designer; not all the updates were visible via Figma. Which means we had to wait to see the changes in the latest build.

I’m the CEO and founder of WashAutos. A two-year-old company that conducts mobile car washes.

What challenge were you trying to address with Crowdbotics?
We hired Crowdbotics for their app development services. I wanted my app to be up and running within six months so our customers could use it to try our services. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?
The process started with answering Crowdbotics’ inquiries; they asked me to explain what I wanted. Shortly thereafter, they introduced me to a three-man team. From there, they started working on the app.
 
At present, they’re still working on the app. I’ve used a different team to design the app, and I’ve asked the Crowdbotics team to go to my website and use the information, graphics, and colors there to implement the app’s design.
 
The idea behind the app is for users to have on-demand car wash services. Service providers can use the app to connect with customers who need their cars washed. They have to know where each other is, so we’ve asked Crowdbotics to develop a zip code feature. The app is for both Android and iOS platforms.
What is the team composition?
I work with a project manager, a developer, and a coder from Crowdbotics. Jovana (Head of Support) is also involved in the project. She’s my current main point of contact.
How did you come to work with Crowdbotics?
I searched Google for about ten companies and interviewed them. Crowdbotics matched our needs; they were a small company and could meet my expectations in a short time.
How much have you invested with them?
I’ve invested over $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
The project started in December 2021, and it’s ongoing. They’re addressing the complaints I have with the app.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The project took longer than six months, and we weren’t even close to launching the app. I was disappointed, so I escalated my complaint to one of their VPs. They said they could help, and that turned into another six months of working, with little being done. I engaged their CEO earlier this year. To be clear, we never changed the project’s scope; the team simply couldn’t complete certain aspects of the app.
 
For example, users had to enter their zip codes to get the app working; the team couldn’t implement the zip code functionality properly. Without the zip cope, the app wouldn’t work. Crowdbotics eventually fixed this feature, however.
 
In terms of the app’s aesthetics and graphics, I didn’t like how it initially looked. It wasn’t pleasing to me. Opening the app, I saw a lot of blank spaces — it didn’t look professional. Another feature that they couldn’t get fixed was the logins. If I were using one email address, the app wouldn’t allow me to change from being a service provider to a customer and vice versa.

They’re still working on fixing the app’s problems, and they’re about 90% done. The problem with the login and zip code functionality is completely fixed. Around nine new users have signed up since last week, and all nine accounts are functioning properly.
How did Crowdbotics perform from a project management standpoint?
Crowdbotics’ responsiveness has drastically improved. I’m in contact with Jovana every other day, and she’s been extremely responsive. Their ability to meet deadlines and budgets has improved, too. They’ve been upgrading my app at no extra cost, and the collaboration is a lot more fluid. In terms of tools, we’ve used Figma to collaborate on the website. For communication, we use emails and Google Meet.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They know how to code, and they do it well.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There’s still a big disconnect between what they’ve done and what I want them to do.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Ask for examples of their work. In my case, I’ve found some apps similar to what I want to see in terms of functionality and aesthetics. I’ve shared those apps with the Crowdbotics team. Do this in the beginning stages of your engagement with the team. Walk them through another app similar to yours. If your app is unique, spend more time discussing it with the team.

In their last attempt to work with us, Crowdbotics completely overhauled their approach. They recognized the severity of their previous mistakes and committed to making things right. This is very honorable as we know it’s hard to bounce back from a tough situation where trust was initially lost. The scope of their involvement this time included diligently identified and fixed all the bugs and glitches that plagued our previous builds.

They optimized the site for speed and performance, ensuring that it loaded quickly and provided an excellent user experience as we had concerns previously about how long it took for users to login. Unlike their previous communication, this time, they maintained an open and transparent line of communication throughout the project. The group of individuals we worked with is NO LONGER at the company and was replaced by professionals.

The result was a fully functional & highly effective website that not only repaired the damage done but also significantly improved our online presence. Crowdbotics has redeemed itself in our eyes, and we would now recommend their services to others.
