CityTalks is the author of the mobile application which, based on the latest technologies, is an interactive guide to selected cities in Poland. City Talks professional historians and travel guides have identified these events and described the stories of fascinating objects and places around the cities.

The app is providing the audio travel guide consisting of a mobile app and a web platform. The system notifies users while they are passing a historical spot around the city in order to encourage them to listen to the story of the given place.

For what projects/services did your company hire createIT.com?

createIT was responsible for the design, programming and implementation of a system solution consisting of a Web platform, mobile application (Android and iOS native apps) as well as a comprehensive CMS platform to manage the contents sent via API to the mobile app and the Web platform.

What were your goals for this project?

The city is the people who create it. This is the belief which has made us create the City Talks start-up. We wanted to give the voice back to the city residents, so we have collected their memories, experiences, stories, emotions, photos, sounds… and assembled them into City Talks city audio stories.

We knew that in order to meet our goal we needed the right specialists - professional historians, travel guides and lectors to gather credible and amazing contents, and the right IT specialists such as createIT for the software implementation.

We wished to work with a company that had experience both on the local market and on the international scale. createIT was recommended to us by one of our employees. Very quickly, we were able to find common ground and transform our goal into a technological language needed for our solution.

createIT helped us kick off our project with some brainstorming sessions. Accumulated knowledge of our needs and multi-faceted team experience allowed us to scope the City Talks idea.

At the end of this process, a detailed SRS documentation was prepared by createIT to make sure all parties understand the way the system was going to be implemented, its goals, features, and technical details.

The final platform was built based on the combined technologies. System Architecture: REST API, JWT, OAUTH2. Stack: ObjectiveC (iOS), Java (Android), Symfony (PHP)

The project was managed by createIT PM but the whole team stood behind him (UI/UX specialist, system architecture, devops, graphic designers, web and mobile app developers, quality assurance specialists, application testers)

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The solution that createIT created for us is the heart of our business. The application has been gaining more and more interest and we hope for its further development.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

For us, the most important person in the project was createIT PM, gathering our needs, and passing them further along to the technical team.

There were some bump-ups in the system implementation phase (the differences in the construction of the iOS and Android platforms caused some issues with the API integration with the Android version of the mobile app.

The Android version had to be modified towards the API integration). But createIT met the final deadline, and all along the project they were in contact with us informing us about the progress.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The ability to be a real IT partner for the client, with their high sense of understanding the non-technical client’s needs, and addressing their doubts.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Along the project there were some timeline shifts due to the Android platform limitations which surprised the Android developers at createIT, maybe it could have been scoped safer in terms of the timeframes. However, on the one hand our time was very limited and createIT wanted to meet our needs.

On the other hand I am not sure it is possible to foresee this kind of edge-scenarios before the real investigation and digging in the application.

The project was to create a business card website for our company. We needed graphic design and the coding work. createIT, after learning about our needs and goals offered us a solution based on a WordPress platform, with the custom template related to ours brand book.

The site stands out from those of our domestic competition. It was quickly noticed on the market.

We were given the dedicated Project Manager. He was responsible for overseeing my project and communicating with me, so I wouldn't worry about any technicalities. The developers were under the Technical Leader, who kept coding in check.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Professionalism, a sense of security at every stage of the project. The ability to listen to the client and convert their vision into a real website was impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement?

createIT could probably have some surveys done after the implementation of the project to get to know the opinion of their client especially after some time from the implementation – if anything changed/ any problems occurred etc. There is nothing like that at the moment.

You can find a lot of software agencies, but we decided to pick up CreateIT because of Bartek. He is the co-owner of the company and one of the project managers (PM). Very convincing and easy in-person communication, supportive and competent in every case. We saw that it wasn’t their first outsourcing model that they have created. It worked without problems.

We’ve decided to collaborate with CreateIT in the part-time outsourcing model. We simply assigned them different tasks in the project management systems and they delivered ready solutions. They also consulted on tasks when, and only when, it was necessary.

Based on a need analysis CreateIT decided to choose Greg, one of their backend developers. He speaks English perfectly and is smart and well-qualified in terms of software development.

We ended our outsourcing agreement because our IT needs were completed. However, we consider our cooperation with CreateIT a pleasure, and we can strongly recommend them if you need outsourcing or anything connected with IT.

We’ve used Skype, emails, and phone calls. We were okay with this kind of communication, and the quality was really very good. We’ve been speaking in English, and I can say that guys from CreateIT definitely can speak good English.

Every single task we assigned to them was completed in time and they took care of every detail. They paid huge attention to the smallest details.

I’m the head of marketing for an international steel and aluminum manufacturing company.

We needed a website for our subsidiary in Poland.

What was the scope of their involvement?

createIT has completed multiple web development projects for us working with WordPress, Symphony, and CMS programs. For their first project, they developed the website for our Polish subsidiary. They then developed a site for a marketing campaign that people could upload photos and other information to. They’ve developed other informational and marketing campaign sites for us since then including versions of the original Polish site for other countries in which we have subsidiaries.

What is the team composition?

We work with a project manager. There are three to six developers working on any given project for us.

How did you come to work with createIT?

We started working together almost eight years ago. We’d had a bad experience with companies we worked with previously and were impressed by how professional createIT was. They’re reliable and do a good job so we kept working with them. We’ve established a strong relationship.

The financial aspect is also important to us. Because they’re Poland-based, they’re two or three times less expensive than the options we have here in Austria. They’re also willing to do small changes, for example, without charging us given our strong relationship.

We started working together seven or eight years ago and it’s ongoing.

They’ve helped us significantly improve our digitalization. They build for us but also help us come up with ideas to increase our business efficiency. They’ve had a huge impact on our company.

They've never disappointed us so far. They’re reliable and always complete their work on time. They always do their work or even more. We’ve never had any surprises on costs. They don’t just do what we ask, they also think about what we need and how we can improve.

Their project management is well-structured and they work very efficiently—which means we can fully rely on them.  

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be great for us if they had German speakers on staff. That’s not their fault, of course, since they’re a Polish company.

I also wonder how the work would go if we had more than one project going at the same time. We currently only run one project at a time and deal with one project manager. I don’t know the other project managers they have on staff but the experience we’ve had so far has been positive.

Be well prepared and ensure your own internal project management is set up. Explain to them about what you want from them, your budget, etc.

The collaboration can be divided into two stages. The first stage involved one-time activities, which included a technical audit of the portal, keyword analysis, competitor analysis, defining content gaps, and developing a strategy for recurring activities for the coming months. The monthly activities include monitoring the platform both in terms of content and technical aspects, creating content, and building quality content with backlinks to the website. During the collaboration, we managed to improve the rankings for key industry phrases. Additionally, we filled our content gaps and expanded our linking network.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Each month, we receive a report that shows both the rankings for key phrases, the amount of organic traffic reaching the portal, the number of views in organic searches, and the number of clicks and visits to the website. During our cooperation we’ve gained more keywords in TOP10 and got significantly more traffic from non-branded keywords with high competition level such as “zaklady bukmacherskie” (sports betting) position 14 > 9, “bukmacher” (bookmaker) position 36 > 9 (as for june 2024). Thanks to keyword analysis we developed new sport-related content which allowed us to get very high positions on our sport blog, e.g. “liczba goli 1.5 co to znaczy” (goals over 1.5 what does it mean) position 0>3, “gole powyżej 1.5” (goals over 1.5) position 0 > 1

The project is managed by a Marketing Project Manager who presents the plan for the next steps and coordinates SEO-related activities on their end. Additionally, they stay in constant contact with our team, which ensures smooth communication and quick responses to any questions that arise. createIT carries out its tasks without us having to monitor deadlines, and they also analyze data and come up with new initiatives that support SEO.
