Introduce your business and what you do there. 

I’m the internal SEO specialist for Volusion.com, an e-commerce platform company. We sell software that allows people to build online stores.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Content Is Queen Marketing? 

Right now, I'm a one person team working on our internal SEO. We hired them to help out with bandwidth problems. I need somebody to help with the daily tasks that I don't always have time to do.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Content Is Queen Marketing does a little bit of everything in terms of content marketing. Krista (Founder & Head of Content, Content Is Queen Marketing) reviews existing copy and writes new copy for us. She helps out with content audits and does keyword research. Currently she's working on helping us build out a large, scalable backlink outreach program. She touches almost everything that we work on in some capacity. 

What is the team composition?

Krista is my main point of contact. 

How did you come to work with Content Is Queen Marketing? 

Content Is Queen Marketing already had a contract with Volusion when I came on board.  

How much have you invested with them? 

I could only provide a wildly inaccurate guess. I do know that their rates are reasonable and in line with our other contractors.

What is the status of this engagement?

Work began in November of 2018 and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Content Is Queen Marketing is absolutely wonderful. Krista helps so much with content creation bottlenecks. We're working on a large scale content project right now. One of the final bottlenecks is getting the content edited and polished to be as high-quality as possible. That goes far beyond standard copy editing. Krista does a lot of keyword research, considering search intent, restructuring content, and providing visual aids. 

She's just been fantastic. We can give her a vague outline of a project and she'll take it, run with it, and bring back a completely usable result. We've been able to hand tasks off to her and she consistently gets it back on time. Her work always looks great. Now we're considering expanding her scope to include copywriting.

How did Content Is Queen Marketing perform from a project management standpoint? 

We communicate mostly via email. Krista is good about letting us know if she's going to be on vacation. She's always gives us plenty of warning. In terms of responsiveness, usually we get an answer to our email within minutes or maybe an hour. 

What did you find most impressive about them? 

Content Is Queen Marketing is intrinsically motivated to do good work. The major problem with most contractors is having to very carefully spell things out for them and then walk them through the process. Krista is comfortable taking the initiative and making good decisions.

Krista really knows her stuff, which makes her twice as valuable as anyone else. Her work is the best contractor work that I've ever received, and I've worked with quite a few different firms. It's so nice to be able to hand anything to her and know that we'll get back perfectly usable results. 

Are there any areas they could improve? 

No, not really. I can always trust Krista to turn in good work. There are even times when I have her double check my work. She seems to be a holistically good at SEO. She's really good at both the content and technical side. If she has any weaknesses, I haven't brushed up against them yet. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers? 

Content Is Queen Marketing can be trusted to do good work without micromanagement. Give Krista your desired outcome and she will come up with the process to deliver it. She'll do all the work in coming up with methodology and building the report.
