I am the marketing director for Dream Home Studio. I am in charge of lead generation and online marketing for client aquisition.

We are looking to lead generate by using organic SEO and content driven techniques. Our goals are to drive a positive ROI based on marketing costs and client aquisition.

We did extensive research into the online content marketing and SEO companies. Having a background in PPC ourselves, we were educated on the pros and cons of content marketing. We found Content Powered to be heads and shoulders above the competition.

We have generated multiple content postings and have seen our domain rank increase since working with Content Powered. We are optimistic that we will continue to see positive results and organic rankings.

To date, we don't have any direct feedback other than to keep doing what they are currently doing. The process has been great.

I’m a marketing consultant. I work with many startups and growth-stage companies, and sometimes I’m a fractional CMO or do leadership work for a certain amount of time. Sometimes, I’m an in-house employee. I work predominantly in tech, always as head of marketing.

What challenge were you trying to address with Content Powered?

SEO and blogging are long-term marketing plays; if we could invest early, we would reap compounded benefits over time. I was working with a startup, and we were losing long-term potential every day we waited to invest in a blog. I wanted to start our blog and ensure we were investing in it regularly. However, I was building a team from scratch and didn’t have the time to invest in a blog. 

I needed to divide and conquer because I couldn’t start multiple strategies from scratch, lead them, and nail them all. By outsourcing our blog in its entirety to Content Powered, I could solve staffing and training issues and implement immediate and long-term SEO and blogging as a marketing strategy.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Content Powered provides blogging services for my clients. On our first engagement, they first did significant targeted research to identify opportunities to get on the first page of Google sooner. They identified vulnerable blog posts by competitors that were susceptible to being knocked out of their Google position. Then, they came up with an initial list of blog topics they thought would be good to tackle in the first month or so, with a rationale for why we should go after those first. 

Their strategy consists of writing blog posts for keywords people are searching for that align with the brand's goals. For example, they’ve produced 3,000-word posts with several subheadings and 15–18 pictures that they custom-brand for the post and the brand.  They write posts such as comprehensive guides, step-by-step instructions, and listicles of information. 

Every few weeks, I get an email with recommendations for blog topics and the rationale behind them. I provide feedback, and if I don’t like enough of them, they get back to me with another list. Their work also includes SEO research images and a table of contents on the post. They also post on the blog and do on-page SEO work to ensure that the meta description is right. They’ve also provided a reporting dashboard that targeted specific keywords so that we could see our rankings over time. 

On any given project, we discuss requirements verbally, and I provide them with my client’s website URL and some of their competitors’ websites. Most of the time, my clients sign up for one blog post a week, which sometimes increases over time. However, some brands sign up for 2–3 posts a week right away. I’ve recently engaged them again to work for a new brand I’m currently collaborating with.

Although many different team members have touched my account, I only ever interact with James (Founder & CEO).

How did you come to work with Content Powered?

I stumbled upon a piece of their content months before reaching out to them; the content was unforgettable, so I bookmarked it and waited for the right opportunity. When the right brand came along, I opened the post, reread it, and was convinced to reach out to them. I filled out a form on their website and had a great initial conversation with James. We had a meeting of the minds regarding our beliefs about the value of blogging and the way it should be done. 

There’s a misconception that if a person is a good writer, they’ll be good at SEO or that if they’re an expert, they can write a good blog post. However, blogging is as much a technical exercise as a writing exercise, and James seemed to understand that. Based on our conversation, I gave them a rundown of the brand I was working with and what I hoped to achieve. He returned with a list of blog topics relevant to the brand, the goal, and that we had a technical chance of ranking on Google. That proposal was compelling, and I bought into their week-to-week concept, so we started working together.

How much have you invested with them?

I’ve brought them on to multiple accounts, and each engagement has cost around $25,000–$40,000 a year. This varies depending on the number of blog posts per week. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around April 2020. Even though I left the company and am unsure if the project has continued, my partnership with Content Powered is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

On our first project, site traffic increased by 800% based on the blog work alone. I don’t work with that brand anymore, so I don’t know what’s happened with those metrics since I left. We weren’t only ranking on Google, but users stayed on the site and scrolled through, reducing our bounce rate. Those users often converted to subscribers because the value was so high. 

Content Powered understands that 90% of most bloggers’ content isn’t seen because it’s not SEO optimized. They don’t just produce writing; they create technically optimized content for keywords that are relevant to the market. People click on their posts because they’re searching for that keyword. Moreover, they write content that users truly read from beginning to end and get value from. 

With most companies, clients are lucky to get 1,200 words that don’t require much editing. With Content Powered, my clients get 2,000-3,000 error-free words or even more, plus 15–20 custom-branded pictures for each post. Although I’ve had to fact-correct aspects of the brands’ products, I’ve never seen typos or grammatical errors from Content Powered. 

Additionally, the volume they produced is second-to-one. The team is also engaged in the content. I’ve never had a complaint about the production quality from clients. For every project, I first have the conversation for clients to accept spending that money, and once they do, no one questions it again because the quality is so exceptional. I’ve never seen a company that qualifies as a runner-up outside very expensive marketing agencies. 

On top of that, Content Powered is doing this work at a lower price than hiring a blogger would cost. An in-house writer would cost at least $50,000 a year, and that doesn’t include an editor, a fact-checker, a graphic designer, or an SEO specialist. 

How did Content Powered perform from a project management standpoint?

We predominantly communicate through email, and there’s a dashboard that I can log into and see how our rankings are performing. We have regular communication around topics, and I provide them with feedback. The team produces and publishes the blog posts on time every time. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I have very high standards, and I wouldn’t suggest Content Powered to so many of my clients if they didn’t meet those standards. Their work is as good or better than what I would produce. I’ve always felt confident recommending them because I’m never worried about whether they can handle another client. They have a very clear process and a system that works. Any consultant or marketing leader looking for a brand that’ll make them look good can hire Content Powered. The team treats their clients’ blogs as if they were their own. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m sure there are some process improvements that they’ve enacted over time and will have to keep implementing to keep growing. However, as a customer, I’ve never seen those growing pains. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don't wait to start! Many marketers sit in uncertainty, trying to determine if a vendor or an employee will be the solution they need. Although marketing is a testing game, no one wants to enact something that will fail. For a small business, it’s easy to look at Content Powered’s price point and hesitate. However, that indecision is cutting into your long-term bottom line. Additionally, I’d advise being patient because SEO does take time; it’ll take 3–6 months or maybe even a year for you to get traction on Google.

Our company is an online e-commerce store with our own range of health supplements that we sell and distribute on the amazon platform via FBA / Private label. We also have recently just launched our own online e-commerce store to sell this pro of ducts. I am a co-director with my business partner.

We have our own account manager, SEO specialist but we know that there is a full team of people in support that are there if and when we may ever need them.

this is our first encounter with content marketing and only 4 weeks into the program but our expectations are high and we will post an update in the weeks ahead.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We get our first detailed monthly report this coming week and to date all of our ongoing communication has been exemplary. We are provided with article ideas including written examples for our perusal and checking at all times. All communication with particular emails has been promptly addressed and we also have had some one-on-one calls but usually because the email response being so quick and effective that has been sufficient for all of our work communication to date.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

There is not one single thing we can add at this stage to provide as anything for improvement. To be honest we are absolutely "stoked" with our partnership to date and we know that it is early days but felt compelled to do a review at this early stage. We have had 3 previous experiences with other marketing groups in an unrelated area of marketing that left us disillusioned, untrusting, and very "gunshy" to look at any further marketing groups as such. We have had our faith and trust restored for online marketing as a result of our experience to date.

Long-form, deep-dive content is a tricky assignment. There has to be substance in each article written and they are very good at doing the research and putting it into words.
