We had been working with other development companies for the last 7–8 years to provide third-party systems to manage our coaches and customers, but recently decided that we wanted to develop our own platform for the business.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The platform is built on Laravel for the web version, but we have created a mobile product with them as well. Their team handled the process pretty much from start to finish. We provided them with the requirements that we had on our side, and from there they designed and built both the front- and backend of the product.

We have two full-time developers as well as a project manager who serves as our main contact and makes sure things are moving along in a timely manner. The owner is also very helpful and available when I have questions or other specific needs.

I was working with another development partner and was not happy with their performance, so I looked on Upwork and found Citrisbug there. I gave them a small task as a test at first and it was immediately clear that they were a significant improvement, so we made the switch to them full time.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

What I really liked about their team from the beginning was their understanding of technology and their ability to think of solutions for the challenges I was facing that I hadn’t already thought of. As a business owner, I know what I want the site to do, but I don’t always know what the steps should be to get there, and they were able to fill in that piece of the puzzle starting on day one.

On top of that, the quality of their work has been great. We’ve been using the application they built for us for a couple years now, and we continue to improve it and add new features, but it has more than met our requirements since it was launched. Our customers love it, and at the end of the day, that’s the only metric we really have to measure their success.

Their process is extremely transparent, which was one of the biggest improvements from the companies that I had worked with previously. With other outsourced developers, you sometimes don’t even know if anything is working until the final day that they are supposed to deliver and may or may not. Citrisbug always hit their deadlines, which is an incredible quality as a businessperson to have in your development partner.

The team is very approachable and really go out of their way to make the process of working together enjoyable. The project manager who we work with is always on top of things. He makes sure that we are receiving the best quality work from their developers and communicates regularly through our Skype thread so that we know where we stand on every deliverable at any given time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Honestly, their integrity puts them head and shoulders above any other development teams I’ve worked with on its own. The development process is never easy, and circumstances are always changing, but their ability to adapt and keep the focus on making my ideas into reality is extremely impressive.

They understand that the goal is always to have a product that I am happy with in the end, and no matter the process it takes to get there I am confident that they will be able to develop the game plan and implement it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There are always things to improve on, but what matters to me is that they are willing to do whatever it takes to satisfy me as a customer and consistently improve as a team. I haven’t had any reason to question their dedication to those two things, so I don’t have any complaints overall.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

For any customer working with a new developer, the most important thing you can do is to set clear goals and deadlines and then make sure you’re hitting those deadlines. As long as you are accomplishing realistic, small goals on a relatively short-term basis, you will eventually be successful.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Due to outsourcing the work, my cost of development was almost 30% less than local developer. Also, the cost of server setup and maintenance was decreased with increase in profits as well.

Communication with the team was seamless via Skype Chat & Call. For project management and tracking progress we used the Tools as Trello and GITHUB for issues and code revisioning

Not at the moment. As they have been the best team I have worked with so far.

After about 3 months of searching, I came across Ishan and the team. I was immediately impressed with the grasp of the project (something others hadn't picked up on). From this moment, a clear and detailed plan was put in place.

With my help, Citrusbug developed a backend plan, had a detailed plan of the API integration, and then made suggestions on how to build this all into a front end site, which would work well for both my customers and for our team.

During the project, we worked directly with 4 people, all of which were easily contactable and all in charge of specific aspects of the project. Under these were some highly efficient staff members who helped complete the work in a timely manner.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Compared to our previous site, we're really happy. As with every project we keep working with Citrusbug to make small improvements, but it's superb. Conversions have increased massively, as have comments on the various pages of the site.

As mentioned above, the project was initially controlled by Ishan and he was always available for contact. He then introduced me to 2 of his team who handled the day to day of the project.

They communicated with ease and picked up on targets of the job quickly.

I was very happy with them. Having worked with a lot of contractors previously, the team at Citrusbug were really effective in communications. No project is ever 100% but I was really impressed with these guys.

I’ve worked with other freelance developers before, and they were much more equipped to meet our deadlines than past partners. They delivered solid code that required very few fixes or adjustments. Their design skills were also suited for the little design work we asked them to complete.

They’re very responsive to questions about the mobile app, willing to get back to me on weekends with input and answers. We communicate through Asana and Skype. That makes it easy to track their progress.

The clarity of communication could be a little better.

Once receiving our MySafetyNet badge they would have a profile on MySafetyNet.info . Only badged minors can enter the site and by using another minor’s badge number, validate the minor’s existence as a minor. Stopping adults from posing as minors for nefarious purposes. The second being an online validation site and apps. for adults. ThIs site validates a users name and picture through government IDs. It also allows adults to track their meetings with one another via our “meeting tracker” feature, until the meetings safe conclusion via pre chosen safe return pics, and under duress pics.

The adult apps and website are near completion. The apps are n test flight mode on iOS App Store and Google Play Store. The website will be up and running on AdultSafetyNet.net within 2-3 weeks. The children’s apps are up and running in both IOS App Store and Google Play Store, as well the website is up and running MySafetyNet.info .

The workflow was very smooth. We had the concept/vision , and Citrusbug brought that vision into reality. The experience was very good and I would highly recommend this company.
