We needed help designing and manufacturing a line of premium bolts and chain latches for horse barn doors. We wanted hardware that looked high-end and could suit different architectural styles, from modern barns to traditional ones. At the same time, it had to work smoothly every day, fit a range of door types, and hold up to moisture and harsh barn conditions. We also wanted one partner who could take the product from concept all the way to delivery in the US.

Cadlete Designs took our cane bolts and chain latches from concept to a finished, mass-produced product line delivered to the US. They delivered several design variations across modern and vintage styles, with production die-cast tooling for every part. The finished hardware passed quality checks, arrived with consistent precision across the production run, and carried a durable PVD finish that met our expectations for appearance and corrosion resistance.During prototyping, we checked how smoothly the bolts and latches operated, how well they fitted different door types, and how sturdy they felt in use. For production, we looked at fit and consistency between parts, the quality and evenness of the PVD finish, its corrosion resistance, and the condition of the products when they arrived. We didn't have any issues with defects or quality that required rework or replacement during production or after delivery; all products were top quality.

The scope of work included exploring multiple creative design directions, developing both partial and full-body sleeve concepts, and refining the forms around organic curves and smooth transitions inspired by natural elements. The team worked to balance aesthetic appeal with practical manufacturability, ensuring the designs could move forward into prototyping and eventual production. The primary measurable outcome was the development of multiple viable design concepts and physical prototypes for the Bukhoor stand sleeve. Cadlete Designs explored several form directions and successfully translated the selected concepts into 3D-printed prototypes, giving us a tangible way to evaluate proportions, fit, surface quality, and overall visual appeal. Beyond the deliverables themselves, the clearest measure of success was the project's progression: it moved the product from an initial functional aluminum burner into a fully defined decorative concept backed by validated physical prototypes. This gave us a clear, confirmed direction for further development and eventual manufacturing - turning an open-ended design challenge into a concrete, production-ready path forward.

We evaluated how efficiently the system could accommodate the required temperature, humidity, airflow, and lighting components while maintaining a practical footprint.Another key benchmark was whether the design could be translated into a functional prototype without a major redesign.
